Chapter 22

What time is it, you ask? It's time for you to VOTE

Percy's POV

I could feel her; her hand on my face, her lips on my forehead, but couldn't do anything about it. I wasn't even able to look into those beautiful, gray eyes. "Annabeth. Where'd you go? Why can't I feel you anymore?" The thought of her brought me back to reality. My eyes opened to see a swirling portal and I immediately knew that Annabeth was there. It took everything I had just to crawl towards it, and as I got closer I could see the faint outline of a girl clutching her stomach.

"Annabeth!" I crawled faster and began to panic. "No no no no no. This can't be happening. She has to come back. I need her. I love her."

"Percy, no!" It was her voice. The voice of an angel that paralyzed me, causing me to, against all of my willpower, let the portal close. Right before she left my sight, I voiced a promise. "I'll save you."

Third Person POV

Him and Nico were barely able to hold the portal open, but when Annabeth jumped through and Percy tried to go in after her, Jason knew that they had to close the portal immediately. Nico, however, had other ideas.

"Jason, don't stop the spell! We need to let Percy in with her." Jason shook his head as he argued Nico's statement.

"We've already lost Annabeth, we can't lose him too."

"But Percy's the only hope that Annabeth has. You saw his power, Jason." Still protesting, Jason impatiently retorted.

"In his condition, all Percy would be able to do is die with her. We don't have much time, Nico!" As they all heard Annabeth's plea from the other side, Nico was finally convinced and let the portal disappear. When the portal disappeared, Percy's face was revealed to them. Annabeth took Percy's mask off when she kissed him, letting Jason and Nico see a dark expression on the son of Poseidon's face.

"Percy.......-" Percy stopped their words abruptly and replaced them with his own.

"I need to focus," after a second he added, "Reassure them that Perseus Jackson is dead." Using the great amount of rain that continued to pour down on them, Percy, aware that Jason could fly, formed a thin wave that pushed Jason and Nico off the cliff. He then proceeded to sitting cross-legged and closing his eyes.

************************************

As the two spawn of the Big Three fell to the ground side-by-side, Nico turned to look at his cousin.

"Well he sure wasn't in a talking mood." Jason just sighed and used the wind to let them float safely to the ground. Before they even landed, everyone had already crowded around them. Immediately, Jason took his role as a leader and addressed the many words that were being thrown at the two of them.

"Everyone!" Silence filled the air, "It's good to be back, but now is not the time for a 'welcome back' moment. The good news is, with the help of Annabeth and-" He then remembered what Percy said to them- "..... the masked figure that appeared, we were able to fend off Destruction. You guys no longer have to worry about him." The reply to this news was deafening cheers throughout the woods. When everyone quieted down, Jason was about to continue when he heard a girl yell his name.

Piper had just returned to camp after getting word of Destruction. As soon as she stepped into the borders, she felt her heart speed up and ache at the same time. She felt a love in her chest that she hadn't felt since........

She ran to where the crowd of people were, plowing through them to confirm her feelings.

"Jason!" His electric blue eyes melted into hers as the two demigods saw each other for the first time in what seemed like an eternity. Piper couldn't be out of his arms any longer than the ten years that they had been apart. They wordlessly embraced, the decade between them just melting away as if the lovers had never been apart.

"Piper, I'm sorry. I wanted to come back."

"All that matters is that you're here, and you won't leave me again."

"Never again." Piper took a step back so that she could see Jason's face.

"How am I supposed to keep other girls away now? You're even more handsome than before." Jason smiled at this, but changed the direction of the conversation to Piper.

"Well now you know how I've felt all these years of watching over you and making sure no other guy comes your way." It warmed Piper's heart that her boyfriend had been watching over her during the lonely years she lived through without the one and only person she'd ever love in such a way.

"I love you, Superman." Before Jason could come up with an equally annoying name for Piper, Thalia, who had returned to camp shortly after her brother's girlfriend, stormed (excuse the pun) through the swarm of people to glare at Jason.

"Hi Thals," were his simple words to the powerful, intimidating woman standing in front of him. Holding Piper at his side with one arm, Jason waited for the onslaught of fury that awaited him.

"Ten years." Thalia's voice was deadly calm. Anyone could feel the anger emanating off of the daughter of Zeus. "It took your ass ten freaking years to come back."

"I'm sorry Thalia." Jason looked to the ground in defeat, with no other words of defense.

"Is that it?"

"I tried my best." Thalia slowly walked towards Jason while Piper stepped away from him, not wanting to get in the middle of this. Everyone was silent out of fear for Jason. The King of the Gods' two children were both stronger than ever before. No one knew how ugly this was going to turn, but they all were ready to run if need be.

Thalia was inches away from Jason when she stopped and looked him in the eyes. She observed the emotions that lied there, searching for a good reason as to why she shouldn't slap her brother in the face. Jason knew that Thalia would understand and didn't waver under her intense glare. Finally, she broke the silence.

"If you do anything like this again-"

"I won't. I promise." That was all it took for Thalia to rush towards her sibling and squeeze the life out of him.

Nico stood to the side looking at the ground. Right before him and Jason had left, Nico and Thalia had had a moment. Their faces had been less than an inch apart before Artemis showed up and Nico had to leave before she decided to punish him. Nico thought about Thalia every day since then and didn't know how to approach her now that he was here. Knowing that no one felt like paying him any mind, he just sulked to the side while everyone was focused on Jason's return.

With this in mind, Nico was beyond surprised when Thalia turned to him with tears in her eyes.

"And you." Nico had no clue what to say when he saw that Thalia was crying for him. "Does she really care about me?"

The only reply he could muster was, "Me?" She stepped towards him much faster than she went to Jason. The next thing Nico knew, she was a foot away from him.

"No Nico, the other guy that I left the Hunt for. YES YOU!"

"You......" Nico's mind was racing a mile a minute. His thoughts were too jumbled up to put into words. Thalia put her hands on her hips.

"Well?" In that moment, all Nico could think about was when him and Thalia's faces were so close.

"Well I don't see why we can't continue from where we left off." Thalia placed her hands on Nico's face and they shadow-traveled away the second before their lips touched.

Everyone was struck speechless at what they just witnessed, even Jason and Piper. No one ever thought in a thousand years that Thalia would leave the hunt for a man. The only question was how she was able to get out of her supposed sacred oath. Jason was worried that she would get in trouble, but figured that him and Nico weren't the only ones that surpassed the Gods. That's when he realized that he never shared the bad news with everyone.

"As I was saying guys, with good news there is almost always bad news." This got everyone quiet. "We had to open a portal to send Destruction back to his prison, but the plan didn't work out as well as we expected. The portal was open, but me and Nico were too busy keeping the portal open to physically push Destruction in. The masked man was down after going one on one against him, but Annabeth appeared and tackled Destruction into the portal. The only problem was that she went in with him and we had to close it."

Jason let this sink in. All of the campers looked up to Annabeth, her being one of the Legendary Seven that everyone was told so much about over the years. No one had anything to say to the news that Annabeth Chase was pretty much dead by now, so they all just went back to their cabins. It was about the time of their curfew so all the lights went out at once. Jason was left alone with Piper who took a shaky breath and sat on the ground beneath her. She was joined by her boyfriend a second after as they both sighed in harmony.

"Jason, I know you know who that masked man is, and I could tell that him and Annabeth have some kind of relationship."

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're Athena's daughter." Piper didn't laugh.

"I'm serious." Jason knew that he couldn't tell anyone about Percy. It wasn't his place to say anything, but he didn't want to keep secrets from Piper.

"Piper, it's a really big secret. He doesn't want anyone to know. When did you see him anyway? You weren't here when he first showed up."

"Someone made an iris message while I was on my way, but that's not important. I know it's impossible, but when I saw him, I couldn't help but think of......... Percy." She whispered this last part, the pain evident in her voice. Everyone knew that Annabeth had been in the underworld all of this time and couldn't find Percy's soul, but at the same time, they all witnessed his death.

"There is one thing that guy wanted me to tell everyone." Piper looked at him expectantly.

"He said to assure everyone that Perseus Jackson is dead." Hearing this shocked her into silence as she felt tears threatening to escape her. Piper rested her head on Jason's shoulder and let the tears escape her multi-colored eyes. They sat and comforted each other until they laid back and slept on the ground.

*************************************

Percy was starting to realize just how powerful him, Alpha, and Omega were. If not for Chaos who had healed him from his planet, Percy probably would've been dead by now. At one point, he wanted to learn to be able to live without Chaos constantly saving him all the time, but for now he was worried about getting Annabeth out of there.

When he saw Annabeth, Percy could sense the prison itself. It was worse than being in the presence of Tartarus.
"Worse than Tartarus.........No. It can't be that place." Percy was reminded of the place below that hell he went through with Annabeth. It's formal name is the Abyss. When this thought came to Percy, Alpha & Omega decided to speak in his head.

"Where Chaos keeps Destruction is worse than the Abyss. The only entrance to this place is located in Tartarus and it is called the Chaos Void, named after the Creator of the Universe. If you wish to go there, then we must train and master each other's abilities."

"But Annabeth needs me. There's no time for training."

"If you wish, we can help you teleport there for a very short amount of time. You will not be able to take Annabeth Chase with you, but you can try to provide her with what she needs to survive until you can get to her."

"You want me to just leave her there?"

"The training room that Chaos made for you is a special place called the Chaos Time Chamber. You can go in the chamber and train for decades while only having a month pass by in actual time." Percy was amazed at this.

"Do you guys think that Annabeth can survive long enough?"

"She is one of the strongest mortals that I've ever witnessed. It will definitely prove difficult, but I'm sure she can survive a month with your help."

"Can I go to her now?"

"Yes, but brace yourself."

"For what?"

"Absolute Chaos." Percy was unsettled by this warning, but knew that it didn't matter how bad it was. Before he began mentally searching for the Chaos Void, he took his mask back off, wanting to let Annabeth see his face. After this, it only took minutes for Percy to disappear in his usual flash of sea green light. The only thing that remained was his mask that laid on the ground he sat on moments before.
