Chapter Five

I slept throughout the night, though not without a visit from Hecate reminding me that I need to protect Harry and prepare the school for another war. I yawned lightly as I got up, leaving a badger Gizar on my bed. I walked to the bathroom and turned on the lights. My tiredness disappeared like smoke. My face was scarred and anyone could see the broken look in my eyes. I stared at myself sadly, trying to stop the memories. I held a hand to my face, leaning against the counter. For a few moments I thought about ending my life, here and now, but then who would protect Harry? I needed to carry on, if not for myself than for him. I threw those thoughts away and preformed my glamour spell, except this time, hiding most of my visible scars, instead of the Voldemort one. I needed Harry to recognize me if we saw each other. We had already been apart for about fifteen years, I had no idea how he would react, if he would even remember having a twin. Sadly, no glamour could hide my eyes, so I put sunglasses on that I found in one of my bags supplied by Hecate. Not wanting to have to carry all of my items, I unloaded all of my space pockets and packed the items in the empty duffle bags, also curtesy of Hecate, and then placed those in my space pockets. Once everything was packed, I grabbed the key to the room and walked down the stairs to Tom, and handed him the keys. "See ya Percy! Have a good time at Hogwarts will ya?" I smirked at him from behind my sunglasses. "Sure Tom. I'll see you, maybe during the summer? Anyway, goodbye for now!" I walked out, waving, and headed to my destination. King's Cross Station, the pillar in between platforms nine and ten, to platform nine and three-quarters. Harry, here I come.

As soon as I reached KCS on foot, I had no problem reaching platform nine and three-quarters. The only thing I didn't understand was the glares I was getting from everybody I walked past that was a wizard. I just shrugged it off until this girl came up to me, all mightier-than-though like, and stood right in my way. "May I help you?" I didn't understand her attitude. "Well. Can you please stop acting like you're Harry Potter? He's my best friend and we don't need a jokester like you trying to pretend you are him. So take off whatever spell you have on and continue your life as a nobody, thank you. People don't like wannabes." I scoffed. "I'll keep my body, thank-you-very-much. This was how I looked when I was born, this is how I looked when I wasn't in the wizarding community, and this is how I wake up every day. If you have a problem with it, take it up with my parents. They created me, as I'm sure you already know. P.S. I've never seen Harry before anyway." I slipped past her, leaving my last sentence to hand in the air. I can't believe the first student I come across has the audacity to accuse me of being a 'wannabe'. And Harry-the-Ham is my twin! Of course we look alike! I silently steamed as I got on the train. I wanted to search for him, but I thought better of it, what if he was with that girl. She said she was his friend, I hope he's not in the wrong group.... I walked to an empty compartment and sat near the window, facing the station. I took my sunglasses off, because it was too dark in here already. I stared at all of the kids coming on the train, trying to find Harry. Gizar slithered out of my pocket and wrapped himself around my bicep, looking for my lost twin as well. 'Master. I found him.' My eyes whipped over to Gizar and I followed his gaze until I saw me.

Harry's POV

"What 'Mione?" Hermione had been trying to tell me something the whole way here, except Ron kept talking to me, trying to talk about the school year and quidditch teams. "Harry, there's this guy that's trying to be your doppelgänger. Do you know of him?" I looked at her strangely and voiced my thoughts. "What's a doppelgänger?" She sighed, exasperated. "Harry, that's when someone looks exactly like another person, like twins." A chord rang inside me and I couldn't think. Twin. What was so important about that word? I couldn't remember.... Twin.... It was on the tip of my tongue. "Harry?" I looked at Ron questioningly, still not being able to figure out the mystery. "What's wrong Ron?" He shook his head. "Bloody 'ell mate, I couldn't get to you. I thought someone might have put you under a love potion." I snickered at the thought. "If I remember correctly, you were the one under it Ron, not me." He blushed. Hermione and I laughed at his suspense, forgetting about the doppelgänger. Harry? Hazza.... Is that you? I whipped my head around, searching for the owner to the voice in my head. Then, my eyes clashed with sea green ones and I gasped. The boy looking at me looked exactly like me. It was as if he was my twin. Do I.... know you? I looked uncertainly at the boy, trying to remember where I saw him before. He felt familiar.... His hopeful face crumbled, replaced by sorrow. "Yeah. That's the guy." Hermione seemed to have seen the boy. You don't remember... He turned away, tears in his beautiful eyes. He shut the blinds just as I remembered... Percy. Perseus Potter... My twin. My only living relative. I took note of where he was on the train and rushed on board, leaving Hermione and Ron confused with my luggage. I couldn't let him go, I needed to make up with him. Figure out where he had been, try to rekindle our closeness. I had only lived with him for a year, more or less, my memory was still a little hazy. It must have been before Voldemort attacked. That stupid, evil, no-nosed man took apart my family, and now all I have left is Percy. I ran through compartment after compartment, just avoiding the students trying to walk through the isle. Percy was near the end of the train, probably so no one would be near him. I was going to change that.

I came upon Percy's car after a little running, I was winded and probably looked a mess. I tried to open the door, but I found it locked. I cursed to myself and calmed my breathing. Once I got my breathing under control I leaned my ear against the door and heard the sound of crying. It was so soft that I almost didn't hear it. I tentatively reached out my mind, maybe able to contact him again. All of a sudden I could almost see the line connecting our minds. I gently tapped it and I could hear his thoughts. He doesn't remember. He'll probably think I'm some crazy weirdo trying to gain popularity. He'll probably think I'm some wannabe like that girl. He'll want nothing to do with me and then everyone'll shun me. Curse you fates! Curse you! I've already had enough pain and heartbreak in my life, I don't need this! I should probably just go back and say I can't do it.... But then so many innocent people will be dead! Uhhh, curse you stupid fatal flaw! I was shocked at what I was hearing. P-Percy? Hello? The crying turned to sniffles and he slowly unlocked the door. Once I heard the click, I opened the door. When I looked at Perce, I gasped. He looked terrible. His eyes were puffy and his hair was in disarray, but his eyes. Oh god, his eyes. They were shattered into tiny little pieces, some even missing. The beautiful sea green was still there, but it was overshadowed by the horrors that played in his eyes. It reminded me of a part of a song Dudley listened to. When you feel my heat, look into my eyes. It's where my demons hide. It's where my demons hide. Don't get too close, it's dark inside. It's where my demons hide. It's where my demons hide. I wrapped him in a hug. "Oh, Perce. What happened to you?" I muttered, sadness layering my tone. At this, a video started in my mind. It was so clear cut that I almost couldn't believe it.

It started out as Percy, coming out of the womb and then me, one minute later. Then everything that happened with our parents, our first smiles, our laughter, the silly faces, the amazing magic. I saw our childhood through the eyes of Percy. Then, the day Voldemort came. After the searing pain, blackness for a while. And then him crying until I reach the door. {I might have missed some stuff, but I was trying not to be lazy for my readers ;)}

As soon as it was over, which had only spanned the time of around two minutes. I had tears in my eyes and clung to Perce tighter. How... Why did it happen to you? If I could have been there.... No. Hazza, it's fine. If I hadn't done it, I would feel terrible for putting it on someone else. I just wish that I could have been there for you. You went against our parents' killer. That is worse, by a ton. I shook my head, pulling Perce back into the compartment and closing the door behind us. We sat down and Percy pulled me into his lap, hugging me like I might disappear. I love you, little brother. I looked at Perce in surprise, but then softened my gaze. And I will always love you, big bro. We smiled at each other, tears streaming down our cheeks. I buried my head in his chest and he cuddled me closer, finally being able to hold me after so many years apart. I felt safe in his arms. Like I was whole, free, and unburdened. Then I remembered why Perce was here. I looked up at Percy, a happy shine visible in his broken eyes. I decided to forget about it for now and choose something happier to talk about. "So.... Mom and Dad are in that locket?" I looked at the necklace hanging around Perce's neck, hopefully. He looked down at me, a little bit of sadness tinting them now. "Yeah. They wanted to see you too. Here." He gently placed me next to him and took off he necklace. He opened the locket up and I saw our mother sitting royally, and our father looking like a cunning trickster. "Mum.... Dad...." I couldn't keep the tears in check again. Mother looked at me and reached out, crying. "My son! Oh... How long I waited to see you! I was so happy when I found Percy, because I knew he would find you too! Now I can see both of my sons for the rest of their lives!" Percy winced a little at that, and then I remembered he was immortal. I side hugged him, rubbing his back. He leaned into my touch and nuzzled his head into my hair (because he was taller. No fair!). I looked at Mum and Dad. "I missed you both so much. I thought I'd never be able to see you again, talk to you..." I trailed off, thinking about all of my sad thoughts. "Well now you don't have to worry son. We are right here, and aren't going anywhere. I want to see how my boys are doing and I darn well will! I am here to stay and so is your mother. We couldn't bare to leave you, but at least we got to protect you, if only once." I nodded, smiling slightly. All of a sudden the train jerked as it started rolling and a loud hiss could be heard as a snake fell off of Perce. "Gizar! What are you doing?" Percy picked up the snake that was Gizar and chided him on his behavior. I chuckled to myself at the sight of Percy scolding a snake. "Ok, Masssster. I won't do it again. Promisssssse." The snake spoke, and I understood it, being a parseltongue. "Good. You better not forget it, Misssssssster." It seems that Perce is a parseltongue too. "Percy, you might not want to speak in parseltongue when you're around other wizards. I did it once and everybody hated me for it." Percy looked murderous while our parents looked on in interest. "You both speak parseltongue? Hmmm.... I don't know where that came from. But Percy, I do think it would be best that you hide it. You should keep all of your tricks up your sleeve until you need them." Perce nodded at our father's words and smiled slightly, even though it was full of sadness. I sighed and once again dug my head into his chest, not wanting to see his sad and broken expression.

We talked for the rest of the way to Hogwarts. Mom and Dad wanted to give us some time to get to know each other better, so they had Percy close the pendant. We talked about everything and nothing as I snuggled in Percy's arms, just as we had been before Voldy, as Perce called him, attacked us. The time flew by and before we could blink, we were suppose to be getting our robes on.

"Uhh, Perce?" Percy looked at me questioningly, robes already adorning his body (with Gizar in his pocket, of course). "Yes, Hazza?" He had resorted to calling me that, just to annoy me.... and I loved it. I pushed Percy away gently with my arms. "Quit calling me that. I need to get my robes, and they're with Hermione and Ron." Percy frowned when I said their names, but turned back into a slight smirk a few moments later. "Well, then let's go get them!" He scooped me up in his arms and walked out of the compartment, me struggling to get out of his hold before anyone saw us. "Hey! Perce, let me down!" I tried squirming, but he had an iron grip on my small body. He started laughing, but that didn't loosen his hold. "Perce! C'mon mate! I need a leadership type look in front of my compadres!" His laughing suddenly cut short and he looked down at me, sadness and pain etched deep in his eyes. Then I realized what I said. "I sorry Perce. I didn't mean it like that. You were a great leader. They way I see it, you guys wouldn't have won if you hadn't been there to help them all. So cheer up, your friends wouldn't have wanted you to sulk and plus.... Your in the wizarding world! Where anything is possible!" He snickered lightly at my horrible pep talk, but conceded.

"Ok, little bro. But I still am going to carry you. Bridal or Koala style? We missed out on all the fun when we were little." I frowned, finding no way out of it. "Fine. Koala please." He smirked and suddenly I was slipping around in a circle. I let out a girly yelp at being caught off guard, but focus myself in the koala position, snuggled into Percy's back. I tried to lay my head down, but it was too uncomfortable with my glasses. I frustratingly huffed and slung my glasses on Percy, not needing them to rest. "Dude, I don't wanna wear your circle glasses! How do you even see with these?" I smacked Percy playfully behind the head. "By looking through my eyes, dimwit. Just wear 'em. I'm gonna take a nap." I yawned, the whole day coming back to me. Goodnight, little bro. I snuggled closer to Percy as I slowly started to drift off to the realm of sleep.
