SEVENTEEN

Louise was healing surprisingly quickly and was wandering around the facility annoying everyone as usual. She had somehow managed to smuggle a segway into the building and had been rolling around and annoying Stark as much as she could.

"Do you not have anything better to do?" Stark asked her. She grinned.

"I'm bored." She complained. "You keep telling me to 'be careful' and 'don't leave the facility because I might get hurt'."

"You just got kidnapped!" Stark told her. "I told you to take it easy."

She held out her hand, opening the fridge and grabbing herself a can of diet coke."easy is boring and Peter's gone home. I'm bored." She told him.

"Stop using your powers for trivial things." Stark told her.

"Do I have to tell you I'm bored again?" She asked. He sighed.

"If you want to be helpful, I could use any details you picked up." He told her. She wheeled around in a circle and thought.

"Um... let me think." She said. She did another lap of the room. "No I got nothing."

"Seriously?" He asked.

"Can we go watch a movie or something?" She asked. "Please."

"Look, we gotta stop him once and for all, so if you remember anything, then I would really appreciate it." He told her. She did another lap of the room.

"He just wants to take you down, he didn't say much more than that." She told him. "He's kind of a lunatic."

"Dont talk about your brother like that." Stark joked. She wasn't impressed.

"Hilarious." She rolled her eyes and checked her texts. Peter had helped an old lady with directions and she had bought him a churro. It seemed everyone was having a good time apart from her.

"Look, I have a business trip tomorrow, so why don't you come with me? You can help me and then we can work on fine tuning your powers." Stark told her.

"Will there be food?" She asked.

"Of course." He told her. She nodded.

"I guess so." She sighed and did another lap of the room, earning another sigh from Stark. "Hey can I try on your iron man suit?"

"No." Stark replied. "Why don't you see if Happy is still here, you can help him pack up the stuff from the storage warehouse ready for it to be brought here.

"Why did you leave the tower?" She stopped beside her father.

"We needed a more secure, out of the way base." Stark replied. "Avengers tower was kind of obvious, and we needed to be more protected."

"Where are the others?" She asked. Stark finally looked at his daughter.

"I don't know kid." He replied. He seemed so sad about that fact.

"Can we go for icecream?" She asked, quickly changing the subject.

"If we do, will you put that thing away and find something else to do?" He asked her. It seemed a fair bargain, so she agreed slowly.

"Deal."

The business trip Stark had taken her on was becoming increasingly boring, although she was fascinated by the beautiful scenery of the country they were in, although she wasn't exactly sure where they were. It was too hot for her liking and she had already been scolded from Stark for not wearing sunscreen. He was trying to parent and he was doing a decent job, and she appreciated that he was trying.

She was sat in the car, eating some chips that Stark had gotten for her, whilst he was on the phone, scolding someone who wasn't her. It sounded like Peter, and she hoped she would be able to talk to him. She missed her friend, more than she would care to admit. And though her father was trying, he wasn't the best company. Clint had gone back to look after his family and Rhodey, she wasn't actually sure where he was but when she had asked him he had just told her he was busy. Which she supposed was fair enough. She was used to people having no time for her.

She had never had many friends, which is perhaps why the few she had made since going to live with her father were so important to her. Stark hung up the phone and began to drive.

"Who was it?" She asked, finishing her bag of chips.

"Peter, he's causing mayhem with that suit I gave him." Stark shook his head. "Its fine don't worry about it."

"Why? What's going on?" She asked.

"He had a run in with that vulture guy that's been out and about. I told him to leave it to the police." Stark replied. She frowned.

"Shouldn't we do something about this guy?"

"The police can handle it, it's nothing serious, just a low life thug." He told her, she still didn't completely believe him, but accepted that he knew best in this situation.

"Hmm, okay then." She opened her can of soda and took a swig.

"Come on, the faster we get back to the facility, the faster we can start training you." He told her, pulling onto a main road.

"But we won't get back until tomorrow." She pointed out.

"And we will be stuck here for another day if we don't make our flight." He told her with the same expression she had just looked at him with.

"Why can't we explore just a little bit?" She asked. "Its a private jet, it's not like it's on a schedule."

"Not this time kiddo, another time maybe." He replied, he must have had a good reason, and she respected that. But she wanted to spend time with her father that wasn't work related.

"Promise?" She asked childishly.

"I promise kiddo, I promise." He told her, she smiled at him and nodded, not bothering him with any more questions or queries.

Although she didn't particularly want to train with her power either. She was still scared of it and she wished that Peter was going to be there, she felt calmer about working with her power when he was there. She wasn't sure why.
