Coloured pencils on the corner of my desk

rainbow coloured pencils for the art we drew

moulded erasers tilt their heads with due respect

in salute to all the errors that made their purpose true

Scattered pages of the work so picturesque

Work we'd coloured in together and then could not undo

Did we work together well

or did we stray outside the lines

were the pencils just not sharp enough, or just the wrong designs

pencils remind me of that moment past

a moment when our hands would draw and we'd be unsurpassed

so when we colour, and we will colour,

all the drawings made together will be beautiful and bright
