Aizawa struggled not to fall asleep as he sat next to Danny's still form. After four days in the hospital, they deemed it safe for Danny to be transferred to UA's medical facility, where Recovery girl would be healing him. They needed a parent's permission, which Aizawa gave.

The day the CPS agent arrived from America was the day Aizawa finally adopted Danny. He was surrounded by his family as he signed the papers. Yamada would've thrown a party right then and there had they been under better circumstances. He did, however, yell with glee when Aizawa received the text confirming that the adoption went through.

He only wished his kid had been awake during it.

Danny hasn't awoken at all since the accident, but all the doctors and nurses told the hero not to worry. After the stress, his body and mind went through and all the energy being used up to heal him, it's not surprising for Danny to still be unconscious.

A pile of 'get well soon cards, gifts, and balloons lay on the other side of Danny's hospital bed. All from his worried classmates. All of which have visited, the most common being Kirishima, Izuku, Mina, Denki, and surprisingly Bakugou. Izuku and Danny have both bonded over their once quirkless status, and the others were all there during the accident.

  "You awake?" Aizawa looked up with hooded eyes at his twin sister, who stood in the doorway, two coffees in hand. Shiori had provided great comfort for him, calming him down when he feared Danny wasn't going to make it.

"Barely" Aizawa mumbled out tiredly,
gratefully accepting the coffee she offered. His sister took a seat next to him and looked over at Danny's still form.

"From what you all told me about the kid, he's as stubborn as you are. He'll be up and walking around much to the doctor's dismay in no time," She gave Aizawa a comforting smile, trying to lighten the heavy mood.

It seemed to work as her twin brother's face cracked a small smile.
"You got that right... My kids, a damn stubborn one"

He spat his coffee out in surprise when she smacked him upside the head.
"Yeah, 'my kid', speaking of when the hell were you going to tell me you took in a kid!" Aizawa gave her an annoyed glare as he wiped the spilled coffee off his shirt.

"I was going to wait until after I adopted him, Besides, didn't the brat tell you about him?" Aizawa asked, referring to Shinso.

"All he told me was that you took in another stray, thought he meant a damn cat, not a whole ass child" Shiori responded with an eye roll. Aizawa shrugged but didn't respond, instead choosing to drink the rest of his coffee in peace as he stared at his comatose kid.

A few minutes later, they heard a couple of knocks on the door. They turned and saw Yamada and Nemuri, both out of uniform since school had ended. Aizawa refused to leave his kid's side, he didn't know how he'd react when he awoke, and he wanted to be there for him. Nezu had a teacher sub in for him while he was away.

"How's the little listener doing? Has he woken up yet?" Yamada gently asked, sitting opposite of Aizawa and Shiori. Nemuri sat next to her loudmouthed friend.

"No, the doctor said he'll wake up any day now, though. Do you guys want any coffee? I can go pick some up real quick. I have to drop Shinso off anyway, so it won't be a bother," The twin asked as she stood up and grabbed her purse.

"That'd be nice, thank you. I haven't slept much, too busy worrying about our little ghost," Nemuri gave her a grateful, yet tired, smile.

After Shiori left, the three tired and stressed-out heroes all fell asleep, only to be awakened moments later by increased beeping coming from the heart monitor.

Aizawa was the first one by his kid's bedside as the ghostly teen cracked an eye open. A pained groan filled the air as consciousness creeping up on the teen. Yamada immediately yelled for the recovery girl, who showed up seconds later. She gave him medicine and a kiss on his forehead to help with his healing.

Danny's breathing began to speed up as he began to wake up, his heart rate picked up some more speed as he began panicking. Aizawa was immediately next to him, calming him down.
"Hey kid, hey, shhh you're alright. We're in UA's recovery unit, see? Yamada and Nemuri are here too," Danny, who was now significantly calmer, traveled his eyes over to where Yamada and Nemuri stood. Yamada gave him a grin and a wave, while Nemuri struggled not to run over and smother him with hugs.

"wher's... p'rents?" Danny gurgled out, mind still sluggish from sleep and the pain meds.

"They're locked away, far from here, kid. They don't have legal rights for you, nor are they allowed anywhere near here. You're safe kid, you're safe," Aizawa was holding on to his arm as he spoke in a soft comforting voice.

"No.. Legal rights? Am I 'gonna be taken away..?" Danny slurred out, voice wobbly.

"Hell no, you're my kid. I adopted you, there's no way in hell they're gonna take you away from us, Danny" Aizawa waited for his reaction. It seemed to take Danny's mind a minute for him to process and when he did, his eyes became watery.

"You did..? I'm... you're my dad? r'lly? This isn't a dream?" He sniffled and tried his best to wipe his tears away. Relieved that they were happy tears, Aizawa smiled softly and began brushing his hand through his kids' hair.

"This isn't a dream kid"

"Can I have a hug?"

Aizawa carefully maneuvered his body to where he was able to engulf Danny in a gentle hug, mindful of his injuries. Nemuri and Yamada both left the room, giving the father and son duo some privacy. Recovery Girl stood off to the side, checking Danny's health and the equipment helping him.

She was smiling, it was wonderful how different Danny was then when he first arrived. Frail, underweight, flinching at every sudden move and loud noise. Now here he was, healthy (besides the bullet wound of course), trusting, and best of all happy.

"I don't wanna be here, Dad. Can we escape?" Danny gave him his best puppy dog eyes. Aizawa ruffled his hair with a shake of his head.
"Sorry kiddo, no can do. You're still recuperating from the bullet wound"

"I got shot again?!" Danny looked down at his bandaged chest, only now realizing.

"Again!?"

So Aizawa adopted you?" Kirishima asked once Danny had finished telling him about the events from yesterday. Danny, who was feeling significantly better thanks to his resting and recovery girl, nodded as he watched Denki play Minecraft on his phone. Mina sat on one of the chairs near Danny's hospital bed, while Kirishima sat on the opposite side. Denki sat next to Danny on the hospital bed, so the ghostly teen had a good view of his phone. Bakugou sat closer by the door, silent.

"Yeah, my- the um... fentons don't have legal rights over me, nor are they allowed anywhere near me so... that's good" he ignored the pang in his heart as he mentioned his parents. His chest throbbed at the reminder.

"That's... That's good, I don't want to see them hurt you ever again. I..." Kirishima's voice cracked as he remembered how broken his friend looked, bloody, unconscious, and barely breathing. Danny placed a comforting hand on the spiky-haired teen's shoulder.

"I'm okay, Kiri. Thanks to you, all of you. If you guys hadn't been there..." Danny trailed off, not wanting to think about what would've happened.

Strapped to a dissection table, tortured, cut open for 'science'-

Danny gave them all a grateful smile.
"Just, thank you, guys. You're the best" three sets of arms wrapped him in a hug.

"Oi, careful, you fucking idiots!" Bakugou exclaimed, standing up from his chair. Danny threw him a cheeky grin.
"Aww! You do care!"

Mina grinned as she saw Bakugou's face redden as they all began teasing him.
"Are you kidding, he nearly took a bullet for you- oh Shit" Denki yelped and leaped off the bed as Bakugou stormed forwards to him.

"Dumbass Pikachu!!"

"Guys if you don't stop Recovery Girl is gonna yell at us again!" Danny did not want to be yelled at by Recovery Girl.

"Who fucking cares, I'm still gonna kill this shock-brained dumbass!!"

"Recovery Girl is terrifying when she yells though," Shivered Kirishima. Denki dodged out of Bakugou's way.

"Honestly, I'd rather get shot a third time than hear her yell at us again!"

All commotion stopped.

"THE FUCK YOU MEAN A THIRD TIME???"

"You can't tie your tie but you can braid hair?" Aizawa raised an amused eyebrow as he watched his kid carefully braid his twin sister's long black hair.

"Mina, Ochako, and Hagakure showed me how in a really simple way. Mommadoriya also let me braid her hair when I went over to Izuku's house" Danny explained as he finished braiding Shiori's hair.

"Maybe you're just a bad teacher" Shinso grinned at his annoyed-looking uncle. Shiori snorted, not bothering to hide her laughter.

"Brats, all of you" Aizawa glared playfully at the two teenagers and his sister. Danny gave him a cheeky grin as he tied a fancy ribbon at the end of Shiroi's braid.

"Hey dad, can you hand me my phone? I think Izuku texted me" Aizawa grabbed his kid's phone on his nightstand which was open on messages.

"Why the hell is my name 'Cranky Cat Man'" he pointed to Danny with a raised eyebrow. Shiori and Shinso both began laughing their asses off while Danny sat on his hospital bed, grinning nervously.

"I thought it fit nicely?"

"Got any twos?" Danny asked Ochako. The brunette-haired girl shook her head.

"Nope, go fish," She said, eyes trailing across the cards in her hand, pondering on what card to ask for.

"Isn't it 'GoldFish?' Not 'Go fish?'" Danny said as he picked another card from the pile. Bakugou scoffed from where he was sitting.

"Why the fuck would it be goldfish?" Danny shrugged.

"'Because that's a type of fish, go fish isn't a type of fish, so why would it go fish?" Mina laughed at Danny's explanation.

"Danny Kun, go fish means pick another card, like go fishing for a new one," Izuku explained.

"Ohhh... I guess that makes sense," The ghostly teen looked at the card he picked, immediately brightening up when he got the card he asked for.

"Yay! Fish fish got my fish!" Danny placed the card in the pile.

"For fucks sake, it's fish fish got my wish" Denki laughed at Bakugou's frustrated expression.

"But I didn't wish for-"

"THAT'S NOT THE FUCKING POINT-"

Danny is the smartest dumb person 🤚 he's fucking clever as shit but he also has a lot of moments where he's not💀
