Dana brushed the back of her hand over her forehead and stared down at the mangled and ruined body of Presley White. He was struggling to breathe, clutching on to the silky sheets of the hospital bed and gasping for air.

His eyes locked onto her's for a brief moment before his lips curved up into one last sad little smile.

"I'm really going to miss you, you know..."

Dana pinched her nose as her eyes filled with uncontrollable tears that spilled down her cheeks.

"Please...Stay with me..."

Presley shook his head and faced the ceiling.

"It's time for me to join my dear Monica in the light-"

"CUT!"

Dana immediately straightened up and her eyes flashed with annoyance.

"You've got to be kidding me?"

Presley sat up in his makeshift bed and pulled on his hair.

"We've done that one scene a million times!"

Darcy walked forward and adjusted one of the pillows on the bed, grimacing apologetically and flapping back the curtains to allow herself further entry.

"The camera isn't picking up on your face. The fabric was in the way. Not to mention this glare is horrible..."

Dana rubbed the sides of her temples and willed her breathing to slow and her irritation to fade away.

"Okay, okay...From the top, then..."

Darcy hesitated for a beat before throwing the pillow aside.

"Actually, let's end it here. We've gotten a good amount of footage down."

The director, Tom Fellings, stood up from where he sat perched on his wooden seat.

"We're going to be taking an extended break from this movie anyway. We'll end it here, then, on half-time."

Dana raised an eyebrow. "Extended break? Oh, right! The tour."

She rolled her eyes and dropped down on the bed next to her co-star, groaning into the forgotten pillow. Her face twisted into an expression of displeasure.

While her head was down, Darcy and Tom shared a side-long glance and a knowing look.

"Actually, Dana, the break has nothing to do with the tour."

Dana slowly picked up her head. "What do you mean?"

Presley immediately started panicking. "Did something go wrong?"

Tom shook his head. "No, no...Presley, you'll be going on the tour, but Dana...We've got something a little different in mind..."

Dana blushed deeply and ran a hand through her unkempt hair.

"If this is about complaining about the super tight schedule earlier, I'll have you know that I completely-"

"No, it's not about that."

Darcy wrung her hands together and smiled nervously. "It's about the other thing you said..."

Dana wrinkled her forehead in confusion. "What?"

She quickly shook her head. "...Whatever. The point is, I'm totally up for-"

Tom held up a hand, stemming the flow of words issuing from her mouth.

"Well, it's not up to you. Darcy suggested-And I thought it was a good idea too...-"

"What?" Dana asked, standing up from her seated position.

Tom and Darcy glanced around the big production room. Every actor and cameraman was listening in on their conversation.

"Walk into the dressing room with us for a second, Dana."

Dana flicked her gaze from Darcy to Tom, hesitating as her heart pounded against her ribcage. She couldn't afford to not go on the tour, however much she didn't want to. She hoped running her mouth like she did wouldn't cost her that much...

With a last uncertain look at Presley, Dana pushed herself off the bed and quickly followed after the mysterious duo.

As soon as the door plaqued with the golden star shut tight behind her back, Dana ran a hand through her flyaway hair and started on her rant.

"Please don't cancel the entire thing for me. I really need this, you know how it would look if I didn't go? They'd probably make a huge scene out of it. You heard the tabloid stories for Ryder last time he didn't show up, right?"

Darcy opened her mouth to speak, but Dana cut her off.

"Oh, Darcy, you know how much paperwork they're going to have to go through if another rumor spreads. It'll be all on you!"

Tom smacked his lips and was about to speak, but Dana rose her voice an octave and plowed over him.

"And you! You know how much revenue not doing this will cost? Aren't you the frugal business-"

Darcy grabbed Dana's arm and shook her out of it.

"Dana! We know. But you haven't given us a chance to explain why we're canceling the tour for you."

Dana took in a deep breath and licked her lips clear. "Oh. Then...Why?"

Darcy pursed her lips, trying to hide an illy concealed smile.

"Remember....Remember telling me you wished you could do things normally for once? Without worrying about the tabloids and messing up? Without...I don't know...Obligations?"

Dana slowly nodded and crossed her arms. "What? So you're canceling the tour to give me freedom of self? Look, I don't-"

Darcy raised her hand up in the air and shut her eyes.

"Listen. We've been pulling some strings on our end and been in contact with a lot of different people to get this to work."

Dana furrowed her brow and let out an exasperated whine. "What?"

Tom let out a long breath. "You've never been to school, have you? We've had Alphonso tutor you over the years, but that's about all the education you've ever received."

Dana crossed her arms. "Hey, Alphonso has been a great-"

"Yes, yes, yes...We know. Alphonso has been a wonderful tutor, but we just thought...-"

Dana raised an eyebrow as Tom's smile grew twice as wide.

"-You'd like to go to high school."

There was a moment of silence.

"High school?"

Dana laughed and hunched over the doorway. "You guys are hilarious..."

It took her a few seconds to realize no one was laughing with her. She immediately cleared her throat and straightened up.

"You can't be serious?"

Darcy smiled. "We are! You start at Lakewood next week!"

Dana's jaw dropped as she stared at the two of them in turn.

"H-High school? B-But I've never even...I can't even...Th-This can't possibly-"

Tom waved a hand in the air dismissively.

"Oh, it's very possible. Obviously, we'll need to make a few modifications as for your appearance. Maybe a haircut...How do you feel about a dye?"

Dana fingered her waist-length dirty blonde hair and widened her eyes.

"Dye?"

Tom laughed. "How about black?"

"B-Black?"

Darcy and Tom exchanged a hearty chuckle and Darcy consolingly stroked Dana's shoulder.

"I think this will be a good experience for you to be social. Maybe find out what others think about you as a person. I imagine their responses will be a bit different when they think the celebrity in question is out of earshot."

Dana went quiet for a few moments as her brain struggled to process everything going on. Eventually, she could scope out a rough outline of what was happening, and that made her face split into a grin.

"That's so cool!"

Darcy nodded and swiftly reached into her purse for her phone.

"Isn't it? As a matter of fact, we'll get started on modifications right away. I booked a barber shop appointment for tomorrow, and we'll need to find some nice contacts in a startling shade of blue...That'll throw them off...And we should also get you....-"

Dana zoned out as Darcy ticked the many things they'd be doing to her face out on her fingers. All she needed to know was that things were going to be very different for her.

In this life of camera's, action, and fast-paced drama, Dana felt she needed a quiet break.

Little did she know, high school was anything but it...
