Ricky

This was the greatest day of Pamela's life. She was having a ball. Jane had picked her up as planned in a plain tee shirt and black-fitting jeans, which was a sin in Pamela's eyes. They were going out tonight! It was a special dinner! This called for dressing up and getting glittered up and sexy!

When she shared this, Jane shared that she didn't have nice clothes like that and left it at that. She was unwilling to share how Aubrey had stolen all her best clothes one time and jewelry. The only 'fancy' outfit she had were the dresses Quinn had given her and that was at the medic's house! Also, they were too formal for a hot pot meal.

Upon learning how little Jane's wardrobe was, Pamela mentally planned to make her some cute shirts and dresses from now on. However, tonight, she would make do with one of her favorite shirts! It was a deep plum-colored asymmetrical shoulder-fitted shirt. It complimented Jane's pants and figure. Also, with some brown and purple eyeshadow and plum lipstick, Jane made anyone swoon.

Any guy would be a fool to overlook Jane. Not that they had a chance with her. If Pamela had it her way, only Ricky could have Jane. 'He better hurry up and confess. I want to be Jane's bridesmaid at their wedding.'

Pamela herself wore a floral dress with open shoulder and halter flare sleeves. It showcased her voluptuous hourglass figure.

Once finished dressing her victim, the ladies headed to the chosen spot. "How do you think the men are getting along?" Pamela asked teasingly, which went unnoticed by the raventte.

"Alright, I guess?" She tilted her head, curiously. "Why wouldn't they get along?"

'Oh boy...the blindspots are strong with this one.' Pamela sweated, wondering if that was a good or bad omen. 'Ricky seriously better make a move soon, before his competition does.'

It awed her how somebody as intelligent as Jane could be so clueless at reading men around her. Maybe she should continue playing Cupid for the two oddballs?

Now let's drop in on the guys.

The men (plus Lyon) sat at their table in uncomfortable silence. Hal and Ricky kept things cordial, but Lyon didn't hide his hostility.

He had been ecstatic when told they would be meeting his Mama Jane for dinner. Dates with his aunt were the best! He had picked out his clothes; the wall-e tee shirt of him giving the plant to Eva. It was his aunt's favorite on him. He had put on his best jeans and he and his dad stopped at the store to get Jane a beautiful flower.

They also picked out a flower for her friend, who Hal explained would be joining the dinner. Lyon didn't like that idea, but his dad told him it was only polite to get Jane's friend a gift as well. The dinner was for that friend anyway. Lyon guessed he could overlook that blunder, but what could not be forgiven was the man who met them at the entrance of the restaurant.

"Why is he here!" Lyon stomped his foot, upset that the shark king had been invited as well. How could his daddy betray him like this?!

Although Hal shared his son's feelings, the man had to be an adult about it. "Because he was invited too, Lyon. He's Jane's friend too." He stressed the word 'friend'.

Lyon seethed. "But he's the shark king, dad! He's trying to take Mama away from us!" Ricky raised a brow, confused at being called a 'shark king.' The seven-year-old growled up at him, shouting that he couldn't have his mama.

People were openly staring at the three now, causing the two men to blush. "A lover's quarrel?" They heard a woman whisper to their embarrassment. "Such a shame. They're both so handsome."

Hal lowered himself to his son's eye level. "Lower your voice, cub. This isn't the place to make a scene."

Lyon wanted to protest and fight the man, but Hal's stern stare made him think better of it. So the child opted to pout, instead of pushing it - for now.

"Uh." Awkwardly, Ricky disrupted the father-son dispute. "Should we grab a table?"

"Yes."

They two made sure to walk a good distance from each other. Hal held Lyon's hand while the kid continued pouting. "It's totally a lover's quarrel." The same woman whispered. 'Seriously, who is whispering those things?!' The men thought unanimously.

No sooner had they sat down, than the girls showed up. Both Hal and Ricky hyper-focused on Jane, memorizing her gorgeous looks into their brains. From head to toe, she was breathtakingly stunning.

Ricky's eyes widened, shocked, as Jane's eyes landed on him. A lump formed in his throat as the stunning beauty picked up pace with a warm smile. Her smile widened and she opened her arms as if to hug him, making Ricky question if this was real or a dream. Either way, he gladly welcomed the sight. He opened his arms, awaiting the impact of Jane's body molding into his.

In his delusion, Ricky had forgotten about the man and his son at the table. If he had, he would have heard Lyon's squeal of delight at the sight of Jane. He would have realized that Jane had eyes solely for her baby nephew, who launched himself at her.

Ricky dropped his arms, crushed by his own foolish expectations. Never in his life had he felt incredibly jealous of a child. Was it normal to be this petty towards a kid?

"Mama Jane!" Lyon lovingly rubbed his cheek against Jane's and laughed when she kissed his sensitive neck, leaving a lipstick stain. "I got you a flower, mama." Lyon proudly held up the lily. That earned him more kisses on his face, which he greedily accepted.

Ricky and Hal were forced to pick up their jaws (and pride) off the table. It must be pretty devastating to know that a child had more courage to approach a gorgeous female than the two grown men did. They envied the cub for that.

"We got one for Ms. Evens as well." Hal was the first to gather himself and offer the yellow rose to Pamela. "Congratulations, again."

"Thank you." Pamela accepted the gift, touched by the simple gesture. Hal was a gentleman, but she still wanted Jane to end up with her brother. Curiously, she asked, "Is that your son?"

Hal nodded, already knowing the model's next question. "Mama Jane is his nickname for her. She helped me raise him since he was small, after all."

The group took their seats and decided on what to order before the server greeted them. The food came no sooner than that, and then the conversation continued. "Can I ask; where's your wife?" Pamela lowered her voice, being sure to be as delicate as possible with this question.

Since she sat by Hal, it made it easier to ask this without Lyon overhearing them. Fortunately, Jane couldn't hear them, because Lyon was too busy chatting her ears off, along with Ricky trying to inject in the ravens' conversation.

"She's...not in the picture," Hal replied. It was understandable that Pamela would ask that question. A lot of people did when the topic of Lyon's mother came up. It was a complicated situation for both Hal and Jane. Something, they didn't want to go into details with around Lyon. Not yet anyway. "We divorced a long time ago and she left when Lyon was a baby."

"I see." The model smiled, empathically. It was unfathomable that a mother would up and leave her baby. She could never imagine her parents leaving her. Her heart ached for the man by her. He must have been through a lot.' She watched the kid and his aunt laugh at Ricky when he accidentally burned his tongue on the meat. Jane's love for the kid was evident. It was no wonder why the kid called her mama. "Jane's a good mother."

"She is." Hal agreed. At least one Evens saw them as a family. He relaxed around the plum-hair Evens. "And you must be a great friend to her."

Pamela blinked. "I am?" She felt it was the other way around.

Hal chuckled; his deep reverbing tone tickled Pam's ears. "Jane's pretty guarded, in a lot of ways. It's not like her to let anybody talk her into doing things like dressing up and modeling for them. The only other person I can think of Jane giving that power to is Quinn." Pamela blushed at the mirth in those honey-hazel eyes. "Jane's got a soft spot for you."

Ok. Now Pamela felt bad. Hal was a great guy and he had such a swooning voice. Pamela figured she should cheer him on if he won Jane's heart. After all, if Jane had such love for the model and pushed for her happiness, then Pamela should return that sentiment.

The atmosphere went from awkwardly tense, to surprisingly comfortable. The adults made light conversations; with Hal and Jane sharing their most funny memories of raising Lyon, embarrassing him. The seven-year-old screeched, protesting that those stories weren't funny, only to receive gentle smooches from his aunt.

"I'll never forget the day I thought I lost him." Jane shared, still traumatized. "We came back from the park and I went to make lunch. It didn't take long either: just two sandwiches. When I came to the living room, Lyon was gone! I searched everywhere. His room, Hal's room, the kitchen cabinets. He was nowhere to be found. I honestly thought he left the house and went back to the park. Turns out, Lyon was hiding under the coffee table. He pulled a Matilda and held himself up under the table. He gave himself away by falling, the second I opened the door to storm the park."

"She made him wear a kid leash that whole year after that stunt." Hal roared, laughing. The Evens siblings joined him, picturing a panicked Jane ready to traumatize some parents on that beautiful summer day. "And what did you learn that day?" He teased his sister-in-law.

"Kids have a sick sense of humor." Jane deadpanned, earning some more laughs. Lovingly, she poked her baby's chubby cheek. "Also, my little cub got a knack for stealth. Looking back, I'm impressed."

"Ah, my stomach hurts so much." Pamela wiped a tear from her eye. "If I ever have a kid, you got to show me how to parent, Jane."

Jane chortled, ruffling her nephew's hair. "I'm sure you'll do fine, Pamela. If anything, I'll probably adopt you kid as my niece or nephew." She was positive she'd come to love the brat as much as she loved her nephew.

Pamela clutched her chest. "I'd love that!"

Ricky loved that too. Funnily enough, he could picture Jane having children of her own. Smiling while she warmly rubbed her expecting belly. It was a pure image - one he hoped would involve him in the future.

"Is that who I think it is?" The four adults' eyes locked onto the intruder. She was a well-endowed, strawberry blonde with a show-stopping smile. Teal eyes gleamed at the friends. She appeared friendly and sweet as her voice, but to the Evens siblings, the girl was evil incarnate. "Ricky!"

Ricky stiffened as the full-figured woman came around his way and hugged him. "What a lovely surprise." Her voice dripped with honey as her chest came a little too close to Ricky's cheek. He stared straight ahead, not daring to stare where the girl intended him to.

The girl feigned hurt. "Aww, you don't remember me, Rick?" At seeing Pamela, her grin grew. "I bet you remember me, Pammy?"

"Hello, Samantha." Pamela made a face. "You still got balls, I see." At seeing Jane cover Lyon's ears at that, she winced. "Sorry, Jane."

Jane and Hal glanced at each other, confused by what was transpiring in front of them. The overly childish Evens were uncharacteristically hostile to the woman. Pamela, especially bristled at Samantha touching her brother, though the strawberry blonde continued smiling, as if mocking the plumette.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Samantha straightened up. Her eyes latched onto Jane and Hal. "How rude of me. I'm Samantha Greyson; Rick's ex-fiancee." Much to their bewilderment, Samantha sat beside her ex and continued chatting away. "Are you four on a double date?" Seeing Lyon curiously eyeing her, she gasped. "How cute." She reached to ruffle the boy's hair, but Jane pulled him closer to her. Retracting her hand, Samantha commented. "So you moved on to single mothers, now, Ricky? How sweet of you." Ignoring the shocked expressions, she turned her attention back to Pamela. "I heard about what happened with that photographer Pammy. It's good that you moved on so quickly."

Pamela turned red with rage. This was the bimbo who cruelly snatched her brother's heart and played it worse than a fiddle. She wanted to murder the strawberry blonde and dump her body in the deepest core of the earth. Luckily, she didn't have to.

"Samantha Greyson's you name?" Jane asked, recapturing the woman's attention. Eyeing the woman up and down: her outfit was tight and embarassingly junior high for a woman of their age. "What does it matter to you if your Ex-fiancee is on a double date?" The lady gaped at her. Smiling innocently, Jane placed her hand on Ricky's arm. "So what if he enjoys time with a single mother now that you're out of the picture? And so what if Pamela moved on quickly? At least she's moving on. Based on your actions, I'm wondering if you ever moved on?" Her smile turned menacingly. "Now that you figured all this out, please leave. This is a private table for our double 'date.'"

Everybody gaped at her, stunned at the words that came out of her mouth. Jane knew what she said was out of line, and it wasn't her intention to lie, but she didn't care to play nice with Samantha. The woman had insulted her friends and her in one breath, expecting not to be called out on it. Jane hated that kind of behavior. She hated seeing her friends hurt and Ricky so pale at the blonde's presence. So why shouldn't she insult the bimbo back?

To drive the lie further, Jane slid her hand over Ricky's. "Tell her, Ricky."
