Chapter 2. Special Delivery
The (Last Name) residence was... loud. But, that was completely normal. The eldest daughter, Veronica, gabbed away the hours on her phone with her boyfriend or her clique of friends. She acted like a regular teenager, despite being in college.
Veronica sneered at her younger brother as he ran past her with his racecar. "Toby! Watch it, you little crap stain..."
Toby, continuing to chase his remote-control race car around the living room, stuck his tongue out at his sister. "Imma tell Mom you cussed!"
"Tell her, then! Tell her exactly what I said."
"Fine! I'll tell her that you said 'crap stain!'" Then, Toby smacked his hands over his mouth. "Oh, no, now I said 'crap stain!'"
"Haha! You said it twice now. So, I guess we're even, huh?" Veronica smirked. Then, she snapped her fingers at him. "Now, hush! I'm making a very important phone call." However, before she could turn her attention back to her mobile phone, a loud knock sounded from outside. Veronica growled angrily before stomping over to the door. "WHAT?!"
(Name) blinked in surprise. She held up the small box in her hands and whispered, "There was some mail and I forgot my key."
Veronica sighed and moved out of the way so that her younger sister could enter the house. "Yeah, whatever, sorry for yelling."
As (Name) walked over to the dining room table, Toby ran over to her and look up at her. "Veronica said 'crap stain.'"
"Toby!"
All three children turned toward the stairway to see the family matriarch, Natasha (Last Name). Natasha came down the steps, glaring at her son. "Tobius Alexander (Last Name), what did you just say?"
Toby whined in protest to being caught saying bad words, "No, Veronica said it first! She called me a crap stain!"
"Because you are, and you're annoying!"
"Toby, Veronica, both of you stop this bickering!" Natasha snapped at them. The two children lowered their heads in defeat. "Now, (Name), what have you got there?"
"Someone left it on our doorstep," the young lady explained, setting the package on the table. "Can we open it?"
Natasha sat down next to her youngest daughter and studied the box for a moment. "Well... I suppose. It was supposed to come here, but I'm not sure who sent it."
(Name) immediately ripped the box open. She gasped in surprise when she saw the contents of the box.
Veronica sneered in disgust as her sister revealed the stitched up doll. "Ugh, what is that thing?"
"It's a Good Guy doll, I believe..." Natasha said, staring at the doll. "I thought they stopped making these a long time ago."
Toby leaned close to his sister to get a better look at the doll. "Wow! He looks so cool! Can I have it?! Please, please, please, please?" He begged his mother.
(Name) held the doll close to her chest. "Oh, no way, Toby! You'd just leave him somewhere once you found something you like better! Mom, can I have him, please? I would actually take care of him!"
"Yeah, we all know that (Name) is a little doll wiener." Veronica said, shoving her finger against (Name)'s forehead.
She pushed Veronica's hand away, glaring at her. "Shut up, Veronica! You're so full of crap!"
"(Name)! Watch your language!" Natasha said to her daughter. Then, she turned to Veronica and said, "and, Veronica, be nice to your sister."
(Name) looked down into the doll's icy blue eyes. She smiled before gently running her finger over the stitches in his face. "Look at this; all these stitches. I wonder what happened... Mom, please let me keep him. Please?"
"Well..." Natasha began.
Toby started jumping up and down and whining. "That's not fair! She always gets everything she wants! What about what I want?! It's not fair!" Then, he simply started whining loudly.
"Oh, just give him the stupid doll already!" Veronica screamed over her little brother's whining.
Natasha sighed before turning to her daughter. "(Name), can you just let him have it, please?"
"But--"
"I promise, next time, things will go your way."
(Name) frowned at her little brother before looking down helplessly at the Good Guy doll. She really wanted to keep him, even if he was damaged. The (Hair Color) haired girl pouted before gently thrusting the doll toward Toby. "Here..."
"Yay!" Toby snatched the doll away and smiled at it. "These things talk, right, Mom? Say something cool!" He shouted in the doll's face.
For a moment, the room was silent. Then, the ginger doll spoke. "Hi, I'm Chucky."
Toby pouted. "That's not cool..."
"And, you're a spoiled brat." Chucky said. (Name) couldn't help but laugh, but she covered her mouth to try and save face. The fact that the doll had called her brother a brat was absolutely hilarious to her.
"Well, that's not what they're suppose to say." Natasha muttered in distaste. "Maybe it's some rare model."
Toby shook the doll and shouted, "Say something cool! Do something!"
"Toby, quit it!" (Name) shouted, unable to watch her brother torture the doll anymore. She yanked Chucky away from him and held him out of reach. "If you don't treat him right, then give him to me!"
"No! He's mine!" Toby tried to jump and get the doll back, but he was just too short. He kicked at (Name)'s legs and shrieked, "Give him back! Give him back now! Give! Give! Give!"
"Tobius, that is enough! Go to your room, now!" Natasha grabbed her son's arm and basically dragged him up the stairs since he was still throwing his little tantrum.
Veronica snickered and flipped her hair behind her shoulder. "Wow, all that drama over a doll." She plopped down on the couch and began texting.
(Name) ignored her and took her new doll upstairs to her room. She cradled him in her arms like a toddler before setting him down on the bed. She knelt down beside him and smiled sweetly at him. "Welcome to my room, Chucky. I hope all of that Toby mess didn't bother you too much. Do you like it here?"
Chucky blinked twice before turning his head toward (Name), startling her a bit. "Absolutely!"
She smiled, finding the doll's response cute. Chucky stared at her for a moment before she looked away toward the door. She looked back at him, and said, "I should hide you so Toby doesn't steal you from me." She picked him up and set him on one of the shelves above her dresser. As she placed Chucky on the shelf, a strange device fell out of his overalls.
(Name) picked it up and glanced over it. The black device had a little screen and a light on top of it. "What's this thing?"
