Cousin, since birth we have played

Never quite understanding

But with each passing day

With each moment of growing

I realized that you were my only friend

I missed you so much

I wanted this period to come to an end

But as usual, no such luck

Miles and miles away

I felt you never knew

Every single day

Felt you were oblivious to how much I missed you

Luckily we can keep in touch

Now I'm happy to talk everyday

Now I can understand just how much

You seemed to feel the same way

You were there through my trips and my falls

Always there through the things I'd gone through

You showed compassion through it all

And this, cousin, is why this book of poems is dedicated to you
