Darkness' Grip
A scratch on the pane
Wakes my sleeping brain
Raising my alertness to a higher level
Though the room may be cold
My legs blended into fold
My mind just tells me to snivel
The long hours of night
Can cause great fright
To people who may not know what lies
They may have fangs
From ceilings they may hang
Or maybe so, they can somewhat fly
Though the dark holds us
Attention on the cusp
Of our breaking point in some way
But while I lay
Quiet I will stay
The darkness hold my final breath
