The only thing left on in Idle is a lantern light hanging above the mouth of the mine. Twenty-eight years ago there was an explosion of sorts–fireworks, really–just enough to turn up some ground. And what turned up was more valuable than all the postcards and hats in the tourist trap that was, together. It was a shard of garnet, a burning red coursing through the crystals, pumped from some invisible heart within. People with keener senses than Mom, Dad, and their three kids, flocked to this rock and discovered that it was the least of Idle's secrets.

This is a story of a town destroyed. The mine like a puncture wound, infected with construction crews and soldiers. Anyone still above ground must make do as rats do, bringing scraps home to dark, abandoned, used-to-be saloons. This story is what you make it.

CHARACTER FORM

Name: What is your character's name?

Age: What is your character's age? All ages are accepted.

Gender: What is your character's gender?

Appearance: What do they look like? This can also include the type of clothes they often wear, or any important accessories. If you want to, you can include an image link in this section but it is not required.

Personality: What are they like? Your character does not have to fit any specific role in this story. The tasks they face will be open enough that they could respond to them as a hero, a villain, or anything in-between.

History: What has happened to them, what have they done? Are they from Idle, or have they just arrived? This is also a good place to talk about any other important people in their lives if there is such a thing.

Activity: What do they do? What makes up a typical day for your character? This is a good place to mention their profession if applicable, their place in Idle, and what their goals in life are. One restriction for all characters is that they must spend time in the mine underneath Idle, as this is where the story of this competition will take place. Maybe they are a soldier investigating the area, one of the construction workers or miners who spend long days carving ever-deeper to the core. Or maybe you are a remnant, sneaking underground in the night for knowledge or wealth or food. Perhaps you are none of those, as long as you have a reason to be in the mines.

Other: Anything else you want to add? Could be a fun fact or any information that doesn't seem to fit in the other sections. There used to be something about the residents of Idle. Whether you would call it special or strange is down to your perspective. They had powers, and things they were powerless to control. From androids, to warlocks, to monsters, to water. Most of the newcomers do not share this trait, but if you would like to write a character with an oddity, go ahead. The government is watching, though, so be subtle about.
