Bumping into Strangers is Fun

Probably Perfect

Caroline

Wake up, that's the first on the list. My limbs felt heavy and my eyes stung as I struggled to get ready. I knew I didn't have a lot of time.

Already 24 years old and it was still hard to get moving most of the time.

My feet hit the cold flooring of my room as I heaved myself out of bed. My phone buzzed with notifications as I picked it up, panicking at the time.

I couldn't risk arriving late and being mobbed by everyone again.

Camera flashes burned my eyes as hands on my back guided me to the huge building with a name faintly marking it.

The interior was dreary but at least I was away from the fans. I loved my fans dearly but it was all too much sometimes, they were all too much.

Ever since I was younger, I loved theatre and acting- so that's what I did. I was a famous actress and I had a large adoring fanbase. I guess my career picked this life for me. I was introverted and valued my privacy, that means that I didn't quite appreciate my fans efforts to get into my life. Stardom had only caused troubles so far for me, it affected my love life, made me constantly relocate, and caused a never ending headache that it was far too late to take medicine for.

My footsteps clicked slightly as I left the carpet of the lobby and followed my manager to get my makeup and hair finished on time before I needed to officially be on set for filming.

It didn't seem like long before it was the end of my day, I got to go back to the hotel now. I could either be lonely or be overwhelmed and maybe it was just better to be lonely then the center of attention.

It was raining as I stepped out of the rather tall office building. Thank god the fans had dispersed as the rain made large puddles in the street.

I wasn't looking where I should have as I tried to open my umbrella. The force of my body colliding with another made me look up quickly.

Piercing emerald eyes looked right into my soul as I froze. My eyes scanned the girl I had run into. She was just a bit shorter and about the same body type- lean and toned with muscle. Freckles over her cheeks caught my attention as my gaze went back up her body. My admiring over the stranger was cut short.

"Sorry, maybe we both should have been looking?" She spoke, glancing down at both of our umbrellas on the ground.

I stood still for a second before I leaned down and picked up both of ours.

"I'm sorry, I was distracted." I looked down as our fingers brushed as she took her umbrella back.

She looked a bit shocked after we both regained our composure that had formerly been ruptured as our skin touched. I think she recognized me. I watched a heavy blush set in on her soft features. I think we both turned into tomatoes.

The beautiful stranger could have been starstruck but I had just been hoping she wouldn't even notice me. Sure, my face and name had been everywhere for a few years now but that didn't mean anything.

Her voice once again shocked me out of my thoughts. "Don't worry about it. Are you Caroline Grace?" She looked more curious then when people normally asked.

"Yeah I guess I am. I like your patches." I didn't know why I complimented her but I was glad I did when I saw how stunning her shy smile was.

"Thank you Caroline. I have to go now." She smiled and turned confident again as she waved a bit and headed to the doors.

I watched after her, smiling a bit. Her lavender hair was pulled back into a messy bun and I remembered the way her angled bangs hung in her eyes. Her bright orange backpack stood out against her faded blue jean jacket. The jacket had been covered in patches and her black skinny jeans had rips. I watched as the cord to her headphones got stuck in the door and she had to open the doors to the building a second time.

I didn't know what caught my eye but now she was out of view and the world got cloudy again. The good thing about the encounter was that she hadn't been obsessed. It was refreshing to be treated normal again.

I met my car by the busy street and was whisked away to go back to my hotel room.

It was a rather dark and rainy day in the city, not that I minded. That meant I could watch Netflix for a while and not feel bad for being lazy. I caught the time, thankfully before I started another episode. It was time for me to get ready for work.

I got up off my old couch and walked the few feet to my small kitchen. My kitten, Piper, wandered in and pawed at my foot before I finally gave her food before I went back to get ready. I pulled on my jean jacket and fixed my hair a bit. My headphones were plugged in to my phone and then put around my neck until I would use them on the walk to work. Thank god I was close so I didn't have to rush in the rain.

I pulled my backpack on and called goodbye to Piper. Then I was on my way.

The walk was quick and then I was outside the enormous old building. It was an office building with all kinds of different things inside, I would be going to the 6th floor so I could broadcast my show. I was the evening DJ for one of the alternative rock stations in the city. It was still a half hour or so until I started- so that meant there really hadn't been any rush and I could go and dry myself off with the hand dryers in the radio stations bathroom.

I was surprised the building wasn't as busy as I had been told it was earlier. About a week ago, we were told about a movie being shot on the top floors and one of our studios was going to be used as well. Apparently it was a Caroline Grace movie.

I didn't hate celebrities but they had the perfect lives, money, fame, not too many worries. I disliked greatly how they took what they had for granted. I always thought Caroline was the same way. She also ignored her fans a lot, avoiding them in public ad refusing pictures and stuff most of the time.

A sigh left my mouth and a puff of warm air showed in the chilly air. I walked up to the doors, as soon as I was under the overhang I decided to close my umbrella... Only to run right into someone. What a great and embarrassing way to start my shift!

My eyes meant light chocolate brown eyes and gentle features. Shoulder length brown hair just barely touched the girls shoulders. She was rather attractive. And familiar?

Through our awkward exchange I had realized who she was. I was a little embarrassed because I ran into a famous person, but I felt a little better when I remembered that she probably wouldn't even remember what I looked like. I would be just another face.

When I finally got to walk away from her, I managed to goof and make a fool of myself, though I wasn't sure if she saw.

Eventually I got to the elevator so I could go up to start my shift, hopefully I wouldn't do something else stupid. I always managed to mess up in front of beautiful girls.
