chapter 37

KIKIOPE

It was a bright Thursday,  the day for the primary election for the prefect post whereby each candidate would be called in to get interviewed by some teachers, and then they would vote.

"It's your turn," Abimbola said belligerently immediately she got out of the staff room, the idiot didn't back down from contesting for the Social Prefect girl.

I nodded before turning to my friends, "I'll go in now."

"Okay, make sure you answer all the questions correctly oo," Abee said and I smiled. He'd decided to go for the Chief Comportment officer boy while Kunmi finally agreed to go for Senior Prefect post though Bimpe had been threatening him.

"Even if she doesn't, it's not like they have any other person," Kunmi pointed out.

"There's a cockroach praying it won't happen oo," Bimpe snickered as she pointed at the glaring Abimbola while the others laughed. Khalid wasn't here so far he wasn't running for any prefect position rather he was nominated as the SRC Chairman so also Doyin, their own election would be on the field.

"Okay sha," I laughed before walking into the staff room.

"Kikiopefoluwa Ademidun right?" Aunty Flourish asked.

"Noo, Flourish Omoge," I mumbled to myself before nodding, without waiting for any of their response, I sat down in front of the panel of judges that consisted of Mr. Adeyoyo, Aunty Flourish, Miss Grace, Mr. Nelson, Stone face and Ìyá Ìbón.

Why on Earth will Ìyá Ìbón be there? Not like she could ask anything reasonable, I just hope she doesn't make me laugh throughout Sha.

"We don't even need to interview her, she's the only potential candidate," Miss Grace voiced out and I smiled at her.

"But we interviewed the other person, and she passed, so, we should interview her too," Stone face countered and I rolled my eyes. So, the foolish Abimbola escaped the primary election Sha.

"I agree," Ìyá Ìbón added.

"Why won't you agree?" I muttered.

"So, looking at her records, she has been on top of her class and is among the best students in her set, she was also the social Prefect girl back in junior school, so, that's settled," Mr. Adeyoyo said as he flipped through the book in front of him.

"There are two of you contesting for this post, why should we choose you?" Stone face asked.

I resisted the urge to roll my eyes before mumbling, "You can ask Google."

"What did you say?" Aunty Flourish asked.

I adjusted my sitting position before plastering a fake smile on my face, "I said I'm a very social girl, as you all know, I've represented the school in lot of singing and dancing competitions, I helped the last Social Perfect girl during her reign which was successful, I organize the class parties in my class, after exams, I make sure the school is fun, I..."

"That's enough," Mr. Adeyoyo said and I nodded.

They kept on asking their stupid questions for some minutes before I left the staff room after they'd announced I passed, not like they have any other choice though.

"So, how was it?" Bimpe asked.

"It was fine jare, just that Stone face was trying to look for a fault in me."

"Hope you didn't allow him to?" Kunmi asked and I shook my head.

"Better," Abee gave me a thumbs up and I smiled in return.

"We're still the last person to get interviewed bayii," Bimpe complained and I chuckled.

"Sorry, anyway, I'm hungry, so, I'm going to class," I told them, and they nodded before I left.

While walking back to class, I sighted Abimbola entering Khalid's class, so, I decided to go there but first I went to my class to pick up my snacks before going there.

"Hey," I greeted before pecking Khalid who looked surprised to see me.

"What are you doing here?" Abimbola bellowed and I ignored her as I tore the nylon of my chin chin.

"Aren't you eating?" I asked Khalid who smiled before dipping his hand into the chin chin.

"So, you're done with the interview?"

"Yeah,"I replied while chewing the chin chin.

"How was it?"

I shrugged, "Fine."

"I even trust you, not like you needed the interview because you'll still be the social prefect even without any election."

"Have you forgotten I'm also contesting for the post?" Abimbola who had crinkled the corner of her eyes asked on top of her voice.

He turned to her, "I already told you to change it you're just wasting your time."

Her eyes narrowed, "So, you're trying to tell me that you won't vote for me?"

"When I'm here, though I don't need his vote, but because you desperately need it, maybe he'll vote for you sha," I patted his cheeks, and he chortled.

"Are you mad?" She pointed at her head and I rolled my eyes.

"Shouting here won't solve anything, see, you need to start campaigning though it'll surely end up as a waste of time but at least you tried, start going around and bribing people, infact you can hire me to write your manifesto."

Her nose flared, "Are you trying to mock me?"

I shook my head, "It's just a friendly advice."

"Friendly advice, my butt!"

"Is it your small yansh na?"

She glowered at me, "Stop talking to me"

I shrugged before turning back to Khalid who had almost finished my chin chin during the course, then I slapped his hand away.

"Don't touch it again," I carried it away from his side.

"Gimme na," he begged.

I placed my index finger on my cheeks before talking, "If you want me to give you, then you have to back me."

"What!" Abimbola shouted causing all eyes to be plugged on us.

Khalid rose, "That chin chin is delicious, so, I can't miss it, it's not like you're even heavy gan."

"Khalid!" Abimbola shrieked and he turned back to look at her.

"Just because of chin chin you want to carry her, how much is the chin chin that you can't buy, h..."

"It's not like she's heavy and this isn't my first time carrying her."

Abimbola's pupils grew huge while I dashed her a smug smile before getting down.

"You can't ..."

Before she could complete her sentence, he swept me off my feet while his classmates kept on cheering, Abimbola seethed in anger before eventually dashing out of the class while I smirked.

"Oya put me down oo," I beat his shoulder, and he chuckled before dropping me.

💢💢💢💢💢💢

"You mean Kunmi asked you to be his date to the Valentine dinner?" I asked yet again and Bimpe nodded.

Then I wriggled my brows, "Hmm, this one that you're even smiling about it, hope it..."

"Shut up jo," she slapped my hand and zipped my mouth.

"But wait, when did it happen?"

A smile appeared on her face, "On Sunday, we were actually doing video call though."

My eyes widened, "So, you guys have been doing video calls behind our back abi?"

She pursed her lips, "It's not like we hate each other to that extent."

I twisted my face, "Hmm"

"What is hmm?"

"Nothing oo," I raised my hand in mock surrender.

"So, now we all have a val except you."

"Who told you I don't have a val?"

She scrunched her brows, "You ke? Oya who is the person?"

"Khalid."

"What! What did you just say?" Abimbola who had been listening to our conversation snapped her head back hastily to the extent that I feared for head not to roll down from the neck.

"Why are you surprised about that?" I eyed her.

She smiled, "You're joking right? How is that possible? I'm his girlfriend, you're nothing to him, why would you be his val?"

"Keep on rambling there, it'll shock you like barb wire."

"You shouldn't have told her so, she'll faint that day," Bimpe uttered and I nodded.

"I didn't tell her but it's good, so, she'll prepare her mind, better start looking for someone, Longwire is there, Pimples factory is ..."

"Shut up!" She hit her hand on the table while Bimpe and I glanced at each other before bursting into laughter.
