6:59 AM KST
it was cold and damp.
he couldn't see anything because he was blindfolded, and he couldn't get up because his wrists were handcuffed behind his chair with what felt like a zip tie handcuff, and his ankles were shackled to the chair legs.
he was probably out cold for about a few hours—maybe three? four?
he didn't know where he was, what he was doing here, and why he was here—the only thing he remembered seeing was a text from the man that had started talking to him a few days ago; he was sure that it said 'look behind you'.
and maybe he did, maybe he didn't; but that didn't change the fact that he was here.
"awake?"
jungkook snapped his head up, trying to direct his face to the source of the voice—his attempt was futile anyway, since he was blindfolded and he was swimming in darkness.
"who are you?" jungkook asked, his voice cracking a little, sounding a little more timid than confident. "and why am i here?"
"it wouldn't be fun if i told you," was the reply, his voice distorted. "you're here for a reason, jeon jungkook. i thought you already knew that."
"am i here because of...because of what happened a few months ago?" he asked, his voice shaking a little. "i-i'm sorry. i didn't mean to."
"why are you apologizing to me?" the voice scoffed.
"i-i just wanted you to know that i'm really sorry for what i did, and—"
"you...sent an innocent man to jail for seven years. you wasted, no, even worse than that, you ruined his fucking life. he was an aspiring police officer. now, he's a convict."
"i know, i-i just panicked! i didn't mean to! i'm not a bad person...i didn't mean to...i was just...scared..."
jungkook could feel his long-hidden lamentation and reproach tie a knot in his throat, heat building up behind his eyelids, and his hands dripping with cold sweat.
"take off your blindfold."
"what?"
"take off your blindfold."
"i-i can't," jungkook strained against the handcuffs. "my hands are—"
"this room is smeared with gasoline, including your chair," he talked, ignoring jungkook's pleas. "and a candle is lit on the other side of the room. when it runs out of wax...well, you know what happens. you wouldn't want to blow it out, either—i don't like cheaters, and blowing the candle out would cause even bigger misfortune than as of now. before you can escape, though, you will need to break free from the shackles and the zip tie cuffs you have there—the next step would be to find a key to get out of here. you can figure that out on your own."
"no—no. this is impossible. how am i supposed to—"
"that's up to you to figure out. you probably have a good two to three hours before the candle burns down; and don't worry, i believe in second chances. it's not impossible."
"but—"
"goodbye."
