Safety First {Jäger}

The lights were far too bright along with the pristine white walls that seemed to glow. Doctors and nurses hustled about outside heading to the proper patients.   Y/n's  torso ached with the pain of a broken rib and the sting of a bullet wound.  She looked through the window gazing at the sight of a woman who liked a lot like Elena working with her fellow nurses. She chewed on the end of her pencil instinctively in thought, how could she capture those cheekbones just right? "Knock knock." Marius pokes his head in through a crack in the oak door attempting to recreate Yumiko's voice.

"Hey baby." He smiled brightly with relief  his curly chestnut brown was a mess and he had slight bags underneath his eyes. "You worry too much." He rolled his forest green eyes smiling.

"I'm your boyfriend, it's in the job description." Casting the notebook aside she opened her arms inviting him into her warm embrace. Marius blushes shyly accepting her affection. They had been together for years and he still acted like it was their first date sometimes. Settling himself into her arms he started humming a song. "So what did you do this time?"    Y/n laughed nervously she hadn't really planned on telling him. The injury wasn't a silly one but it could have been avoided and that possibility gave him enough of a reason to be mad.  "I won't be mad." He said with an airy laugh as she ran a hand through his untamable curls. Marius must have had confidence that this was a valid injury then.

"Are you sure?" He narrowed his eyes piecing together he picture quickly.

"You rushed didn't you." She smiled sheepishly attempting to hide herself in the fabric of the hoodie that she had taken from Marius. "Y/n!" He whisper yelled poking her leg instead of her ribs which was the normal place for poking abuse. "I always tell you that snipers don't rush!" He scold frown only increasing to deep as he enunciated each word sharply.

"Yes well it was an appealing option at the time Marius." He raised an eyebrow silently questioning her statement. "What?" After a small moment of silence and a quick staring contest he spoke quietly.

"I can't lose you." She sighed wrapping her arms around his waist as he rested his head atop of hers.

"Neither can I." The shared another moment of silence though unlike the last one it was comfortable and sweet. Marius was relaxing in her hold listening attentively to the song she was humming. Slowly but surely the two soldiers fell into a well deserved deep sleep.

"Got your helmet?" Marius groaned nodding. Sometimes he wondered if Y/n was his girlfriend or his mother. She doted over him slightly, clearly worried. "What I'm looking out for you!" She chastised poking him in the chest with every word. "Now," she captured his attention with the single word. "No peeking at the attackers this time. They don't need to see your pretty face from the parking lot." He rolled his eyes dramatically though smiled nonetheless.

"I got it don't murder the windows and say hi." Marius tugged her into one of his warm bear like hugs promising to see her soon without a scratch on his body. Though they say that it wouldn't be wise to make promises that you can't keep.

Marius sighed sitting on one the the many beds the dull makeshift hospital that had risen up from the ashes of a server room. The border control office had been mostly destroyed in the firefight that afternoon. Only a few rooms both up stairs and down had been saved. The musty didn't help with the bruises on his lungs that flared with pain at every breath. Y/n would not be pleased to find out that had gotten shot doing the very thing that she told him not to. Though she was farther away rooting out the last of the terrorist with her rag tag team. The chatter of the doctors was amusing. He knew that Doc was fond of discussing the days patients with his fellow colleagues. No doubt he would have spoken of Marius to the others though he didn't see why. Tales of his injuries must be like a broken record to the other doctors. Though the chatter came to a halt as a nurse rushed in Ace, a member of Y/n's team. The sniper was bleeding badly. Marius prayed for her silently. Ace was Y/n's right hand woman he knew how much she valued her relationship with Ace. The doctors split apart quickly an operating team already formed and ready to go. Doc was not among them neither was Halo;the surgeon must be located elsewhere. A scout came through the doors next leaning on the shoulder of an operator for support. Four's scouts needed to take better care of themselves. Though perhaps it was that Four's reckless personality was rubbing off on them. He glanced at the operator finding them strangely familiar. They almost appeared to be Y/n though she was an Arctic camo sort of woman. Yet when the hood came down he knew for sure. "Back without a scratch I see." He called drawing her attention. Might as well get the verbal beat down over with.

She smiled though it dimmed when she noticed his wounds. "What did you do?" Y/n say besides him clutching her hand in his. He could still feel her shaking from the intensity of the operation. Marius I'm started his explanation but Y/n cut him off. "Let me guess peaking?" He laughed nervously looking away. She poked his cheeks to get his attention. "Im not mad just very disappointed." That's was almost worse than her being upset. Finally sitting down she watched with concern as the medical staff worked quickly on her friend.

"She'll be fine." Y/n glanced down at him ruffling his hair.

"I hope so I need my sniper. Besides if she dies then Timur will have an aneurysm." Marius laughed as much as his wounded lungs would allow him. "Hey I need you alive too," she spoke gently kissing his forehead. "Wouldn't want to end up having a heart attack because someone couldn't follow the safety first rule."
