Maybe if he was fairer, they'd love him
Maybe if he was outspoken, they would love him
Maybe if he was bold enough, they'd cheer him on
Maybe if he was more handsome, they'd want him
Maybe if he was slimmer, they'd stop complaining
Maybe if he did better in school, they'd be proud of him
Maybe if he was funnier, they'd always be around him
Maybe if he was better at sports, they'd accept him
So many maybes
But he isn't all those things
He's who he is and he's proud of how far he's come
He would become better not for anyone but for himself
Because at the end of the day, he's all he has.
