Britain's Ghost
~Some Time Long Ago~
It was simple, get the data needed to find Makarov then get out. Reliving this moment haunted him greatly.
Task Force 141 was the group to handle the hardest jobs no other group could handle, and they were discarded like an empty carton of cigarettes.
The revolver of General Shepherd's clear in his face before those fateful words rang out.
"Good job, that's one less loose end." Then BANG!
Ghost jolted awake in the crumbled building, earning the attention of his fellow Servants.
"You okay Archer?" A man in purple armor asks.
"Peachy mate, just peachy." He replied, looking over his ACR assault rifle.
Equipped with a red dot sight, extended stock, a magazine of 30 bullets, and a fore grip.
Sighing, he stood as he walked over to the window.
"I'll take over Sir Mordred." He said silently as the blonde Knight nods.
Laying on his stomach, he pulled out binoculars as he surveyed the area.
Master Ritsuka sent him, Mordred, Saber Artoria, Lancelot, and Bedivere to scrounge for supplies, the usual resource gathering.
But this was a challenge, the hoarders kept changing areas where the resources were left, to avoid any thefts.
They needed these materials greatly to help with the restoration of Chaldea.
Here he was, a future soldier fighting next to who were thought to be myths, Price would be impressed.
Even if he didn't know them personally, they were his kinfolk, fellow Brits like himself and that brought closure to him after failing Roach.
Ghost looked through the binoculars again to see the security beginning to lax, soldiers playing cards and others drinking the night away.
"What I wouldn't give for a Guinness right about now, lucky bastards." He joked.
"What are their defenses like now Ghost?" Bedivere asks, anticipation and eagerness in his posture.
"Easy Round Table, looks like the chaps are enjoying a small party, drinks and food galore." The SAS soldier replied.
"Hmph, you'd make a great scout of the Round table." Artoria smirks.
"You flatter me Your Majesty. Not everyday you get to work a job with legends." Ghost looks through the binoculars again to see the soldiers beginning to fall asleep as midnight shrouds the field in darkness, save for the lamps.
"Alright Bravo, we got light drinkers and resources just ready for the taking. Let's move out." He announced as he stood, cocking back the bolt on his assault rifle.
The others brandish their swords and lances as they quietly make their way to the depot.
"Black keys, Dragon Fangs..." Lancelot reads off as Ghost grabs a few canisters of Mystic Gunpowder.
"Fuckin hell, looks like these blokes were readyin' up for war." He spoke as one soldier stirs from his sleep.
Before any of the Round table could get to him, Ghost already slit his throat, holding his mouth to avoid him alerting their presence.
"What the hell Ghost?" Bedivere snaps as the SAS turns to him.
"War ain't pretty boy, I thought you Knights knew that." He retorted.
"But killing unarmed soldiers?"
"Let me run it by you, if we took him alive, he would find a way to escape and tell his friends and then we'd be compromised! We'd have to deal with unloading cargo as well as deal with reinforcements. We get this done, fast, and as secure as possible to minimize casualties Bedivere." Ghost snapped as the Knight turned to Artoria who shook her head.
"Ghost is right Bedivere, as much as it pains me to kill unarmed soldiers, the cargo is more important to us." She agreed.
"Fast and easy, for our mates back home." Ghost pats his shoulder before making his way down the base, silently killing guards one by one.
Killing the guard near the office, he gently places the body under the desk as he pulls out a flash drive and begins to download any information they had before the sound of a revolver handle cocks back.
"Step back from the computer." The voice ordered as Ghost raised his hands.
Quickly hitting the gun with his elbow, the man yelped before a single gunshot went off as Ghost snapped his neck.
"Aw shite." He muttered, grabbing the files before grabbing the drive and rushing back to the other.
When he arrived, every one was ready for a fight.
"The strongest, carry the boxes back to the LZ, the rest of us will hold this position." He ordered as Artoria and Bedivere stood, ready to fight the enemies on their way as Mordred and Lancelot grabbed the boxes and left.
"Bravo Team to Baseplate, be advised, we're gonna be under heavy enemy fire behind lines, how copy?"
"We read you Bravo 6, if you can get the materials to the LZ, we'll take over from there." A Chaldea worker replied.
"Dig your knickers in lads, bloody blokes are pissed." Ghost remarked as he ADS to see armed men in swords rushing the Knights.
"Piss off wankers!!" Ghost shouts as he fired his rifle, killing a few.
Mordred and Lancelot appeared again , grabbing two cases each as more soldiers arrived.
"Fuckin hell." Firing more, he realized they were beginning to lose ground.
"Shite." Shooting more bullets, Mordred and Lancelot grabbed the final cases as one soldier tossed some explosive near them, exploding their cover.
Bedivere groaned as ringing sounded in his ear, he never heard of such a weapon before Ghost grabbed his shoulders.
"ON YOUR FEET SOLDIER, WE ARE LEAVING!" Ghost shouted as he nods before retreating.
Ghost covered their exit before an arrow narrowly missed him and stabbed Bedivere in the back of shin.
Tumbling over, Saber grabbed Bedivere before he shoved Artoria forward.
"Leave me, I'll only slow you down!" He said as Saber could only frown before leaving him.
"Ghost, hurry your ass already, exfil is here!" Mordred said through the comms.
Ghost fired at more enemies before slinging his rifle behind him as he knelt down, wrapping one hand around Bedivere's head and the other around one leg as he rested the injured Servant on his shoulders.
"What are you doing Ghost?" He demanded as Ghost made his way to the exfil, albeit a bit slower than expected.
"I'm not failing you like I failed my old team." He said, remembering Roach and his old strike team from Makarov's summer home.
"I'm not leading more brothers to their deaths." He continued as he jumped over a hurdle of debris, arrows whizzing past Bedivere.
"You wanna be useful mate? Take my rifle!" Ghost ordered as Bedivere repositioned himself to Ghost holding him bridal style to face the rushing enemies and grabbed the barrel of the ACR.
Firing wildly, the gun then stopped as he expunged all the ammo.
Thankfully, they arrived as Ghost set Bedivere down near Lancelot, removing the arrow.
"Not bad, with some proper training, you'd make SAS in no time." He praised as Lancelot went about healing his injury.
"Baseplate, we're gonna be outnumbered here in a bit, where's our ride!?" Ghost asks, loading a new mag in and firing in bursts.
"Be advised Bravo team, rayshift inbound."
A glowing cylinder covered the team before the familiar walls of Chaldea replaced the charging enemies.
"Cuttin' it a bit close ain't we?" Ghost asks as Ritsuka rushed over to them.
"Apologies Ghost, the intensity of mana was too much on our side. We'll have technicians check it out." She apologized before he rubbed her head.
"Not your fault kid, but I'd prefer if next time that doesn't happen." He replied before the other Servants walked up to him.
"Thank you Sir Ghost, for everything." Artoria bows as Riley shakes it off.
"All part of the mission ma'am." He replied as the King nods.
"You would make a good Knight, maybe even give Mordred a run for best Knight." Lancelot jokes, earning the irk of the red Knight.
"Shut your mouth Lancelot." She mumbled as Bedivere smiles.
Ghost removed his glasses and balaclava, showing off his brown eyes and black hair.
Sighing, he looked at his shaking hand before gripping it tightly, unaware of Bedivere noticing it.
"You okay?" The fellow Brit asks, sitting next to him.
"Just old memories." Was Simon's reply as Bedivere shakes his head.
"You didn't fail us Simon, I know your friends are smiling at you." He said, gripping his hand softly.
Simon smirks lightly as the Knight walks away, leaving the man to his thoughts.
Walking to the cafeteria, Ghost looked out at the sea of various Servants enjoying themselves or trying to pick fights with each other.
Emiya grinned as he served the Brit today's meal, just a regular burger and fries as he placed a cup of tea next to him.
"Thanks mate." He said before two others sat next to him.
It was the silent Berserker Bardock and rowdy Archer Cayde-6.
"Everything else taken?" Simon asks as Bardock gives a nod.
"I think they'll have to make more room soon, already there are people using the ground." Cayde points out.
"Aye, seems about right. What about you Bardock, any new fights break out recently?" Simon asks.
"You mean besides the two bickering Alters, no, nothing new." The Saiyan replied.
Simon chuckles before digging in.
As he finished, he said his goodbyes before leaving the cafeteria and made his way to his room.
A simple bed, dresser, desk, and chest was all he needed to call home.
Placing his rifle on the desk, he tossed his mask and sunglasses next to the weapon before sitting on his bed.
Racing his hand through his hair, he fell backwards onto the soft mattress before staring at the ceiling.
*Knock Knock*
Glancing over, the door opened as Bedivere opened the door, a curious look before smiling lightly.
"Come on in bugger." Ghost spoke as Bedivere blushed red in embarrassment.
"I-I'm sorry..." He apologized before Simon waved his hand as Bedivere closed the door.
"You're fine mate, so, what is it you need?" He asked as Bedivere pulled the chair in front of him.
"Are you sure you're okay? You haven't been...normal I suppose. On prolonged missions, you've woken up in a sweat, even during training missions." He spoke as the door opened to reveal the Round Table and Ritsuka.
"Are you takin' the piss?" He asks as Lancelot, Gawain, Tristan, and Mordred encircle the two. Ritsuka and Artoria sat on opposite sides of Simon.
"Is some kind of intermission?" The SAS soldier asks.
"We've heard from Bedivere about what happened and your behavior in recent times Simon." Ritsuka spoke as Simon cringed lightly at his True Name being used rather then his call sign.
"Are you sure you're okay? You've been waking up in cold sweat as well as screaming at night about a roach as well as avoiding some Servants." Bedivere explained.
"You cheeky wanker, I'm fine okay. I have these problems but I can handle them, one of the cons of being a military man all my life. I'm dead now so..." Simon retorted before Ritsuka stood, causing him to shut up.
"Simon, I know you're a Servant and all powerful against mere humans such as I, but I care about you and everyone else in Chaldea. I know you cared deeply about Roach, I've had dreams of your past life, so if there's something bothering you we're all ears." Ritsuka said.
Simon glanced at the other Servants as they kept a trained eye on him, but also looks of sympathy as well.
"I keep reliving the moment I died, the betrayal I felt as soon as I saw the barrel of that bloody wanker's revolver and those words. I failed my unit and I failed Roach, I wish I'd been fast enough..." Simon admitted as his steely eyes gave way to tears.
"I don't want to fail anyone else." Simon looked up with a determined look as tears continued to stream down his face.
Ritsuka didn't say anything before Mordred walked over and offered her hand.
"Well, you're not gonna make a difference if you're gonna sit there crying about it, Ghost." She smirked as Simon looked at the Knight before rubbing his eyes and grabbing her hand.
"Too right mate."
Ghost is best
