One Final Effort

~Dusty Field~

All around her, various Servants had either fallen in battle or were gaining their breath at the moment. Fighting a rather advanced army as well as an almost powerful god does that as Ritsuka knelt, holding her arm in pain as their enemy merely chuckles.

"The Great Chaldean, Humanity's Last Master, what a disappointment." He booms.

"To think spirits from long ago could stand up to me, you are sorely mistaken."

From the corner of her eye, she glanced over to see their newest Servant, the green armored Archer struggle to his feet.

He had indeed been a new addition, an advanced super soldier from way in the future, a legend among his people, the Legendary Spartan 117.

His stats were incredible as well as his will to fight, standing upwards, defying the supposed God King.

They had arrived in Greece, during the fight against a unified country against the tyrant king Xerxes as someone from the future came and gave the king a rather technological upgrade for their time.

"Oh, you continue to fight Armored One? I commend your bravery, but you have lost." Xerxes said as John simply grabbed his rifle and stared at the God King.

"It's over Spartan, we've lost!" Leonidas said as John turns to him.

"No, we're just getting started." Was the super soldier's response as he took a step forward before hearing the collective sounds of rifles being aimed at him.

"I do not wish for more blood shed, 117, but if you kneel and pledge your allegiance, I will make you a god." Xerxes said.

"Humanity are not gods." 117 said before bending a bit, then taking off at speeds even Cu Chulainn was impressed by.

Racing down the field, the Spartan raised his rifle, firing at Xerxes who hid behind a force field as his army opened fire.

"What a waste." He muttered as he watched the Spartan gain more ground, killing more grunts.

The Spartan's Noble Phantasm was his trump card, Weapons of the Mind.

"Commander, I need you to supply me with mana when I say so." Chief's voice appeared in Ritsuka's mind as tended to the wounded.

"Chief, what are you doing?" Was her reply as Nightingale looked at her.

"What is that Archer doing?" The medic snapped.

"I can bring down the shield and hold his fire long enough so you and the others can leave." Chief replied.

"Us? What about you!?" Ritsuka's mind began to race a mile a minute in fear of losing him as well as losing more.

"I'll provide cover while you leave, don't wait on me."

Ritsuka looked outwards to see the Armored Titan crashing into the army, summoning various weapons of futuristic design, as Chief slaughtered the God King's army.

John switched from UNSC weapons to Covenant on the fly as he reached the shield generator, taking out the guards and summoning a Spartan Laser, charging and expunging the deadly laser into the generator's battery, completely taking it offline as well as scaring the God King.

Xerxes guard began to corner Chief before a shining light blinded the army and Xerxes as a reality marble was erected, a rather jovial green plains, mountains large that Earth's, and a bright and vibrant blue sky.

Standing behind Chief, Ritsuka was in awe at the planet they were on, it was Reach, the human military stronghold where Chief was raised and trained as a child.

She looked at the back of the armored man to see damaged areas here and there as well as a small, blue hue coming from the back of his head.

Turning over to them, they gasped at the Chief's damaged visor, the Spartan walked over to them and nod.

"Master, you need to rayshift back home. I'll take care of them and return home, that's a-"

"Don't make a girl a promise, if you know you can't keep it." Ritsuka interjected, a sad smile on her face as Chief merely nods.

"Are you sure we cannot fight with you Spartan?" Leonidas spoke as Alexander the Great marveled at the reality marble.

"I only ask that Commander Ritsuka supply me with as much mana as she can, enough time for you all to leave. One final effort is all that remains." Chief replied.

"Fair travels, John." Nightingale salutes as the other Servants nods.

"You will return, 117." Gilgamesh ordered as John nods.

"Everyone, back onto the ship. By order of my Command Seals, John 117, I order you...to win this fight against Xerxes, I replenish your mana reserves, and I give you the strength to fight on." Ritsuka said as all three seals disappeared.

Chief felt a surge of power within him and nods before patting her head lightly.

"Thank you, Ritsuka." He spoke softly as the Servants entered the large ship, awaiting their Master as tears fell down her face.

"I don't want to lose you John." She cried as EMIYA walked over and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"Spartans never die Master, we're only missing in action." Chief said as he saluted the two and turned to face his enemy. Ritsuka walked onto the ship as she watched the Armored Titan make his final stand against the God King and his army.

Raising a hand, the group watched as UNSC ships appeared as well as Forerunner, taking aim at the advanced army.

"MAC rounds authorized." The message read on the Chaldean ship as Artoria turned to Ritsuka.

"MAC Rounds?" Was her question before a thunderous boom could be heard.

Glancing out the window, the Master and Servants watched as the human ships fired at the group as well as orange death balls flew from the advanced ships and into the army, disintegrating some and ripping others apart.

Ritsuka rushed to the controls as she began to activate the thrusters, maybe she could save Chief before they left.

"Master!" Nightingale shouted as Ritsuka shuffled through her pocket before retrieving two Saint Quartz, the material to summon Servants as well crafting other useful items.

Popping them into the reserves, the ship began to tremble at the unknown energy as Ritsuka piloted the ship around, gaining a visual on their Green Goliath.

"Nightingale take control!" She ordered, taking off past the Medical Servant and others as she approached the bay door, lowering the lift as she stared over the plains of Reach.

The Master Chief was like a scalpel compared to the army of Persia, he summoned the weapons needed for the right situation.

For every rifle shoved in the Chief's vision, a Fuel Rod was returned in kind, for every launcher, a triple burst.

Ritsuka surveyed the battle as Chief made his way to the God King's Throne, killing any grunt in his way before stopping in front of it.

"Commander, I've reached the generator, once I arm the nuke, it'll be a long shot back to the ship." Chief's voice resonated in her mind as well as the rest of the Servants.

"A nuke? Is he crazy!?" Jeanne Alter shouted as Artoria Alter glanced at her doppelganger.

"A nuclear device? Is that wise?" EMIYA asked.

"Chief, you know that's a one way ticket." Gilgamesh replied.

"I'll take my chances." Was the Spartan's response.

Ritsuka watched as a blinding light erupted from the generator site, before a mushroom cloud took form, the shockwaves beginning to form, reaching the ship.

"We are leaving!" Nightingale shouted as she raised the lift, purple energy bouncing off the ship before a portal of blue energy opened, allowing the ship to enter.

"Chief..." Ritsuka fell to her knees as Artoria knelt next to her in Hope's of comforting their saddened Master.

"He said he'd come back, that liar..." Ritsuka began to cry into Artoria's shoulder as the Saber servant held her close.

Gilgamesh punched the wall in anger as the ship returned to Chaldea.

Dr. Soloman approached the ship, followed by Leo as they held smiles.

"You're back, and the Singularity disappeared!" Solomon said.

"What happened?" Leo asked as the Servants came out followed by Ritsuka and Artoria.

"What happened, was a terrible victory." Artoria said as Ritsuka released her grip, wiping away her still flowing tears.

"We lost a great man as well as other Servants, I think Olga was right about this one." Ritsuka replied as Mash entered the room.

"That was never my intention to be right, we've certainly lost in this victory." Olga said as she walked in from the shadows, a sad yet strict glare on her face.

~Greece~

As the fire and death began to dissipate, a large crater remained as no trace of life remained.

In the middle of the crater, a blue box remained as the reality marble dissipated.

As the box disappeared, a lone titan remained.

The Master Chief stood and surveyed the area as Xerxes's army laid dead, the False God King long gone.

"Hm." Was all the Servant could mutter as he looked over his armor, all scratched and roughed up, then to the sky as the clouds parted for the brilliant sun, casting a rather ethereal glow against the Spartan's armor.

Grabbing his rifle, Chief began to walk away from the battlefield, and walk he did.

The Master Chief began to conserve how much mana he needed to survive and since Ritsuka used all three, he had at least a year's worth of mana if he regularly rationed it.

And so he walked, forever waiting for the next enemy or his commander.

One Final Effort was all that remained.
