The school day has come to an end, its christmas break, and you've got 2 weeks before you have to come back on campus. You and Ria are chilling in the dismissal section outside of Southside High School along with 30-50 other students, waiting for yall's ride to come pick yall up. She's talking with some friends, and you arent far from her, leaning on the wall scrolling through social media on your phone. Fifteen minutes later, your aunt, who you call TT pulls into the school parking lot in a red Hyundai. Seeing this, you walk over to Ria and notify her that TT has arrived saying "TT here let's roll" and then you start walking over to where TT has parked. Ria ends her conversation with her friends, says her final goodbyes, and then quickly catches up to you as yall walk over to TT. When yall get there, you offer to let Ria sit in the front, as you always do, and she usually accepts your offer, but this time she shakes her head no, as she sometimes does. You offer the front seat up one more time, saying "Are you sure? You can sit in the front, I'm used to sitting in the back anyway." Again she shakes her head no and says "Naww you good you can sit in the front, I dont mind" You reply with "Aight". Although you don't show it, you are a bit dissapointed with yourself that she didnt accept your offer. Both you and her hop in the car and close the doors behind you, then TT pulls off. You expect her to take yall straight to the house, but unexpectedly, she makes a stop at a local kroger instead. She parks a few spaces away from the store then gets out and says "Im about to go get some stuff out this store, I'll be back in a lil bit" and then closes her door and heads toward the entrance. This isnt the first time you've waited in the car while TT went grocery shopping, and it usually takes her around 40-45 minutes maybe an hour depending on what she was getting, so you know your going to be waiting for a good minute and you quickly make yourself comfortable, placing your phone on your lap after putting your headphones in and playing your favorite music playlist on repeat while leaning back and relaxing in your seat. While your vibing to your music, you are interrupted by your ringtone, indicating that someone is calling you. You grab your phone to check who it is, and immediately answer when you see that its Shaun, your childhood friend who you've known since elementary school. [He was absent from school today]The first thing you say is "Yo wassup big dog?" and Shaun says "Nun much just checkin on you, making sure you straight" Then yall start joking, goofing off, making eachother laugh, checking eachother, you know, the usual. The conversation reaches 24 minutes and actually gets pretty good until he asks you a question out of nowhere that catches you off guard. "Aye, have you asked Ria out yet?" You answer his question saying "What? Nigga where the fuck did that come from?" He then says "Ion know, I was just curious🤷🏾‍♂️" This causes you to roll your eyes as you respond with "Bro you stay asking me that same question all the time🙄" This shifts the conversation to a completely different subject, with Ria now being the main topic. This is how the conversation goes:

Shaun: So?
You: Why you always asking me that?
Shaun: Dontchu wanna go wit her?
You: No foo, that's my sister.
Shaun: She ain't your real sister, yall not blood related.
You: I know, but still.
Shaun: So you don't like her?
You: Naww foo.
Shaun: Shidd, I guess that makes sense, she shol is talking to somebody already anyway🤷🏾‍♂️
You: What??!🤨
Shaun: Yea they been talking for about 3 days now.
You: On god???!!
Shaun: Yea foo.
You: You lieing??
Shaun: I'm deadass serious G😐
You: Dayummm😭
Shaun: Naw I'm just playing🤣
You: Huh?
Shaun: Gotcho dumass. You do like her😏
You: Wha- god dammit🤦🏾‍♂️
Shaun: Hell nal I'm ded, yo ass got mad as hell🤣🤣
You: Fuck you bitch
Shaun: 🤣🤣🤣
You: How the fuck did I fall for that shit🤦🏾‍♂️
Shaun: Shidd ion know ask yoself that🤷🏾‍♂️
You: Shidd you right tho, I do like her.
Shaun: I know it😏
You: I ain't gon lie foo Ria cute. Nokapp I would've been asked her out if I had more self confidence😐
Shaun: Mane go shoot your shot, see wassup.

You: Well for 1, like I said, I dont have any self confidence. And 2, I'm like, 95 percent sure that she wouldn't feel the same way.
Shaun: What makes you say that?
You: Well you know me and her live together right?
Shaun: Yea and?
You: I be acting weird asf and doing some stupid shit when I'm at the house, and I know she be looking at me sometimes thinking "what the fuck wrong with this nigga". Theres that, and the fact that I'm like a brother to her doesnt help my case any better.
Shaun: Bro, what does you acting weird gotta do with you asking her out? As a matter of fact, being weird is actually part of dating. I ain't never seen a relationship where the nigga or female dont be acting weird around eachother, it's natural.
You: Facts, you right.
Shaun: And as for you being family to her, she might see you as a brother, but like I said, yall ain't related, her perception of you could easily change just like that.

You: I dont know bro, it's like I've just always been insecure about my looks ever since I was little whenever it came to me asking out somebody I like🤷🏾‍♂️
Shaun: Foo you cant be scared of rejection bro. The worst she can do is say no. And if she does reject you, yall still gonna be close, you still gonna be a brother to her, it's not like she's gonna stop talking to you just cus you asked her out. It's not the end of the world if she says no foo, I mean, it's probably gonna hit hard for a minute, but you'll get over it eventually. And at the end of the day, at least you got that shit off your chest right?
You: True, but like, whenever I like somebody, it's like, just the thought of them saying no gets me all in my feelings, then when I'm around them I start feeling ugly as fuck and then I get hesitant and start anticipating rejection.
Shaun: didnt you once tell me that she said ain't nobody ugly to her?
You: Yea
Shaun: And she's single right?
You: As far as I know, yea. I'm not sure tho, she could be taken. But as of now, yes she is single.
Shaun: Then you needa stop bullshitting and hurry up and ask her foo.

Shaun: Yes foo. I think theres a female that's trynna talk to her too.

Shaun: Yea foo. She stay flirting with her in 1st and 3rd period, and I'm pretty sure she be in her DM's too.

You: In the store shopping with her mom.

All of a sudden, while you and Shaun are in the middle of chatting, you hear the notification sound indicating that someone has texted you. You grab your phone to check who it's from and tell Shaun to hold on while you check thit notification real quick and he says "Aight"  You unlock your phone and open the message that you recieved and see that it's from Ria and it says "Awwww❤". This confuses you, as you have no idea what she sent that for, So you reply with "?". The word "read" pops up and then 3 dots appear, indicating that Ria is responding. She send a message that reads "Turn around". At first your like "What is this girl talking about🤨" because this is comming outta nowhere and you still have no idea why she texted you in the first place, then your heart beats faster and you get some butterflies in your stomach as you start to put the pieces together. You slowly and steadily turn around to look behind you and then nearly drop your phone, startled, saying "Oh fuck😱!! It turns out, Ria has been sitting behind you this whole time. She bursts out laughing after your reaction. You can hear Shaun constantly asking what happened over the phone, but you quickly dismiss it saying "Aye foo imma call you back" and hang up before he can even say anything back. After a few seconds of akward silence, with you looking away from her, you finally say something and start a conversation. This is how it goes:

You: Uhh...Sooo?
Ria: Sooo?
You: Exactly how much did you hear...?😬
Ria: Everything😏
You: Ahh Shiattt🤦🏾‍♂️
Ria: 🤣🤣
You: Bro why you ain't say nothing?😐
Ria: I dont know, I guess I just thought it was cute, I wanted to hear what all you had to say🤷🏾‍♂️. How you ain't know I was here anyway🤨
You: I dont know. I do not fucking know🤦🏾‍♂️
Ria: Oh my god, you funny as hell you know that?🤣🤣
You: And there I go again unintentionally making people laugh, but when I try to I'm lame as hell🥺🤦🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️
Ria: 🤣🤣You ain't think not once to check and see if anybody was in here with you?
You: No foo. I could've sworn I heard you open your door and get out😭

You: You dont got no boyfriend or girlfriend or nun like that?

You: what about that girl shaun was talking about?
Ria: Oh that's who you was talking on the phone with?
You: Yea
Ria: What girl you talking about?
You: You know, your female friend that you be hanging out with at school.

You: Shidd ion know her name, uhh shaun had told me that she stay flirting with you in 1st and 3rd period.
Ria: You talking about Aliyah?
You: Ion know, probably🤷🏾‍♂️

Ria: Yea, we stay flirting with eachother all the time, it's just something we do for fun, ain't nothing serious😅

Ria: 😂then yea, as if now we are officially dating.
You: Les goooooo.

Ria: Damn boy you happy ain it🤣
You: Well, yes but like, can you blame me? Wouldn't you feel happy if you got to date someone you liked?
Ria: True, true🤷🏾‍♂️
You: So you wanna keep this on the low orr?
Ria: It dont matter, we can if you want to tho.
You: Nah see I thought that's something you wanted to do, that's why i suggested it, but if its up to me, i want everybody to know that you mine. On god😌
Ria: Welp, there you have it.
You: Well anyway. Lemme start this relationship off with a bang. Lemme get a kiss right quick
Ria: Commere😘

The conversation ends there as you do as instructed and lean towards Ria, and she pulls you in for a quick kiss on the lips to start off the first of what you are sure to be many kisses in the future.

After that's over with, you and her just chat and have a good engaged conversation for about 15-20 minutes, when you see TT comming with a shopping cart full of groceries. When she gets to the car, you get out, help her load the groceries in, get back in and put your seatbelts on, and yall head to the house. You had been holding in so much excitement on the ride home, as you didnt want to look like a idiot in front of Ria, so as soon as you arrive, you quickly help TT put the groceries in the kitchen so she can put them where they go, and then rush to your room, locking your door behind you and turning on your TV. You pull up youtube and put on some random music, turning the volume all the way to max while in the process. As soon as you do, you immediately let all your joyous emotions out from your happiness towards the fact that you just became Ria's boyfriend and start celebrating like you just hit a game winner for your schools sports team saying "LETS GOOO!! LETS FUCKING GOOOO!! STOP MOTHER FUCKING PLAYINN WIDD ITT!!" over and over again, being goofy and hype asf in a good ass mood, unaware that Ria is standing right outside your room door, and can hear you clear as day, despite how loud you have the music playing. She originally was going to ask you for your help with something, but instead she just stands there and listens, as this puts a smile on her face, makes her laugh, and flatters her at the same time. When you finally calm down, turning the volume back to normal setting, and catch your breath from all that jumping and screaming you just did, Ria quickly leaves the scene unnoticed, with you being clueless that she was ever there in the first place, having gotten put in a good mood herself after overhearing your "celebration". This is looking like it's going to be a long, fun and happy relatuonship.
