Chapter Three:
I nearly drop the fawn from my arms, I'm that shocked. The pale wolf takes a few more steps towards me, causing me to stumble back in surprise. The large creature watches me with his keen golden orbs, nose lifted to sniff the air.
'What are you doing Maurice,' Aris growls at me, fighting to get to the hulking make wolf, 'Go to our mate!'
But, he's a wolf? I retort unsurely, A wolf and a tiger being mates is unheard of...
'Are you questioning the Moon Goddess's pairing?' Aris growls, shocked, 'She is the maker of all shifters, we must go to our chosen mate!'
Aris, no I'm not questioning the Moon Goddess, I plead, I just don't know what my parents will think...
'Who cares?' Aris growls out, straining for control, 'He is mine!'
Aris pushes harder against the barrier separating our minds, making pain explode in my head. I growl out loud, getting angered at Aris for forcing control and I push back.
Aris, stop it! I growl at her, strengthening the barrier between us, This is foolish!
'He is my mate,' she roars, 'Do not attempt to keep him from me!'
I'm not, Aris! I snap back, Quit it! You're giving me a headache!
By now I'm gripping my head at the massive pressure building in my head. You're not meant to fight with your animal. Now I know why.
'Then-' she starts, but his interrupted by an obnoxious cough.
Opening my eyes, I look across the clearing at a man that has taken the wolf's place. A hunky man, might I add. Scratch that, he's damn fine. Sexy. Aris is purring up a storm in my head at just the sight of him.
No surprise there.
"What's your name?" a deep voice cuts across the small clearing.
The voice sends goosebumps across my skin. It's so deep and sexy. His dark brown hair and liquid gold eyes, only add to it. Not to mention his chiseled torso and sharp jawline. Yum.
"You done?" his devilish lips curve you in a mischievous smirk.
Damn that smirk suits him well.
Blinking, I shake off my daze and realize I was blatantly staring at the half naked Adonis before me.
Wait. Clothing.
Hanging loosely from his defined hips, are a pair of black basketball shorts. Huh? Maybe he had some in the forest behind him and changed while I was distracted by Aris.
"Who are you?" I frown, turning away from him to find the young fawn.
"I asked you first, babe," his smirk widens, if that's possible and crosses his muscled arms across his chest, accenting his defined physique.
"I'm not your babe!" I growl at him, refusing to meet his gaze.
The soft material swishes against my legs as I walk around the clearing, searching for the cowering fawn. I smile slightly when I spot it quivering behind a bush, on the edge if the clearing. Only my smile drops when I hear his booming laugh meet my sensitive hearing, making me cringe but my heart undoubtedly beat faster.
"Whatever you say, babe," I frown at him, but choose to ignore him and focus on the quivering animal before me.

"Hey there, little guy," I whisper to the scared fawn, "Poor thing, you can't be over a day old."
"You killed it's mother," he points out.
"Thank you Captain Obvious," I roll my eyes, sarcasm dripping from each word, "Not helping."
"You never answered my question," his brow dips slightly.
"And you never answered mine," I retort, gathering the fawn in my arms, "What are you doing here anyway? This is Tiger territory."
"I was out on a run," he rolls his eyes, as if it's obvious.
You know he's quite childish, despite his looks.
"How old aren't you anyway," I voice my thoughts, "You act five. Not a very good first impression."
"I do not," he blushes faintly, red tinting his sharp cheek bones.
"You just contradicted yourself," I smirk at him.
He glares at me, but keeps quiet, his fists clenching at his sides.
Ooh, some ones getting angry.
'Calm mate,' Aris pleads me.
No.
I need to show him that I won't be one of those mates that bow down to their mate. I'm a Princess, I do not kneel.
"I think I'll name you Faen," I grin, nuzzling my new pet and he licks my nose in return, making me giggle, "Ewww, gross!"
I rub my head against Faen's small body, scenting him so other predator's know to leave him alone. Marking him as my property. Faen let's out a small yawn and snuggles deeper into my arms.
Awww.
Even Aris let's out a purr at the sleeping creature, her motherly instinct making a show.
"Please, tell me your name," he grits out, obviously getting frustrated with my ignoring him.
"Why?" I peer over my shoulder at him.
"Why?" he exclaims, "Because you're my mate!"
"Doesn't mean I should reveal my whole life story right this instant," I scoff, "You need to earn that."
"Just a name, please," he whimpers softly, "My wolf is begging you..."
'Please Reece,' Aris whimpers, 'Give him at least your name, even mine at least...'
Guilt tripper, I frown.
"Reece," I call out to a moping male, "You may call me Reece. And Aris says hi."
"Reece," he rolls the word around his tongue, testing the sound of it, "Aris. Beautiful names for beautiful beings."
"You could return the favor, you know," I cross my arms, trying to hide a smile that threatens to show itself.
"Oh, right," he smiles sheepishly, scratching the back of his head, "Keely, Keely Fox."
A frown creases my features, the name ringing a bell. Keely Fox. Now where have I heard that. I freeze when I remember my parents mentioning him in one of their many conversations.
"Aren't you that Alpha," I say uncertainly, "Of the Moon Dust Pack?"
A proud yet surprised look takes over his handsome face, "Yes, that is me. Alpha Fox."
"Alpha Fox, huh," I smirk, "Kinda ironic when you're a wolf, not a fox."
"A little, I guess," a small smile graces his pink lips.
Lips that look so kissable.
"Uh, you might want to leave now," I say quickly, trying to shake my distracting thoughts, "I've called the Castle Chefs to fetch the deer carcass. You won't want to be here when they get here."
"When can I see you again," he calls out as I turn away to disappear back into the forest, with a sleeping fawn in my arms.
"Wouldn't you like to know," I grin mysteriously, "Keely."
I quickly disappear into the shrouded forest, my dress flowing out behind me. I leave behind my confused mate. Leaving the dead doe for the kitchen staff to handle.
