By the time Eve arrived home it was near 11pm
The journey had been a quiet one
Both Sam and Eve lost in their own thoughts
Tempered with that kind of exhaustion
that comes after a long day

'Well... thank you Sam, that was definitely an experience
Shall I ring.... like in a couple of days
For a catch up?'

'Ok, you never know,
I might have another case you could lend a hand with'

'I'll just get my breath back after this one' laughed Eve

Sam watched as the door closed behind her, then drove back to his digs.

The following morning a sleepy eyed Eve walked down stairs and into the kitchen.

'Morning love' Eve's mum didn't look up as she spoke.

It was then that Eve noticed the pair of men's slippers by the chair and that her mum was making pancakes, with maple syrup.

'Eve, there's something I need to tell you'

As  Sam opened his curtains on a new day
His towel removing the last of the shaving cream
There was a knock at the door

Sam unlocked and opened the door
There was a small deputation
'Where have you been all weekend, with that hussy I bet' Minerva Stubbs words came like honey with the bee sting left in.

Sandra Lee bustled through, 'Sam, you'll never guess,
Henry's missing...'

'We think' butted in Stubbs

'.... he's not been seen for two weeks now
And know one knows where he is, and we think his door has been forced!'
