Chapter 19

Red

"It's a girl, your majesty," The midwife said, wrapping a white cloth around the baby that I had just pushed out. My insides were still crippling with pain and it was never-ending, it felt like I had just died and was bought back to life.

Sweat covered my entire forehead as I breathed, occasionally glancing over the baby and then at Luciano who was right by side. Once wrapped and covered, the midwife handed my baby to me. The poor baby cried in my arms, her eyes still closed as I pressed her against my chest and cried along with her, a few giggles interrupting our sobbing session.

"It's beautiful," Luciano said, his hand covering her forehead as he caressed her skin.

My legs were numb and so was the rest of my body yet I held my child in arms, close to myself, hearing her little heartbeat and cries that were never-ending. She was indeed beautiful. Her tiny hands lingered around the air, holding onto anything she caught.

"What are we going to name her?" I asked, looking at Luciano.

"We have all the time for that, Red. You need to rest right now," He replied, his eyes glancing at my legs that were still wide open. I hadn't moved a inch and it showed.

"Fine, fine. Here take her," I gave my child to Luciano and he took her away into another room where the healers could clean her up and ensure that everything was alright with her.

In the meantime, Jaqueline gave me herbs to lessen the pain ripping through my body. The human medicines barely worked at me and the werewolf medicines only harmed me. The herbs were the only thing that helped me throughout the pregnancy.

After the servants cleaned up the entire bedroom, I laid on the bed and Jaqueline sat beside me. All I could think about was holding my child and Luciano was bringing her back to the room in a few.

"Don't squat at all, drink a lot of water and make sure that you rest at all times. Trust me, the quicker the pain goes away, the better. If you need any help with anything, I'm right here, okay?" Jaqueline asked, her hand comforting me.

I nodded my head and released a deep breath, "I can't believe I did that,"

"Yes, you did and you should be proud of yourself. You're going to become a wonderful mother!" She whispered.

"Is my baby fine?" I asked her with worry. She wasn't back yet and every second that passed by without her worried me.

"She's fine. The healers are just checking her levels. Luciano will bring her in no time," Jaqueline replied.

For the first time, I felt complete peace. My heart wasn't racing with panic and I wasn't worried about anything. The only thing I could think about was my babygirl, her cute eyes looking at me, her small hands wrapping around my finger and her frail body against mine.

I never wanted to know the gender of the child for my own reasons. Jaqueline knew that it was a she and so did the healers but none of them told me or Luciano as I requested them not too.

When Luciano appeared on the doorway, I jolted, excitement running through my veins. I wanted to hold my baby for the rest of my life. The sound of blood rushing to my head echoed. Jaqueline stood up, flashed a smile at Luciano and then left us alone.

"I was worried,"

"I know. The healers cleared everything. She's perfectly healthy," he replied, looking down at her.

I stood up, under the moonlight that ducked in through the large windows and went over to him to look at our little baby. She was all cleaned up and covered up in a beautiful cloth that kept her warm. Her tiny eyes were shut and she was sleeping peacefully.

I stopped biting my lip and instead, started crying at the sight of her. There was nothing better than having a child. My heart shone with happiness as I took her away from Luciano's hands and onto mine.

She melted in my hold.

"You have had enough time with her so she's mine for the rest of the night," I whispered to him, making sure that I kept my tone low as I didn't want to wake my princess up from her soft sleep.

"You can have her all you want. I'm going to take a shower, all right?" He wrapped a hand around me and kissed my forehead before leaving for the washroom.

It had been a long day of pushing and screaming. Finally, our little child was with us, in my hands.

There wasn't a single moment I kept my eyes off her. As soon as Luciano disappeared into the washroom, I went over to the rocking chair and sat down. I winced as my body ached with the sudden pressure but I ignored the pain and held my baby close to myself.

By the time Luciano had stepped out of the shower, I had done breastfeeding the baby for the second time in the past few hours. She quickly slept after drinking and after crying for a few minutes.

"Are you going to be there for the whole night, princess?" Luciano asked, heading to my direction. By now, I hadn't moved from the rocking chair in a few hours. My bottom was sore but it didn't matter.

"Shush, don't disturb my baby." I said, pushing him away from me.

He laughed and got on the ground, "What are we going to name her?"

Our greedy mouths came to an conclusion to name our baby just in a few minutes. We both were dying to name her. Luciano had nice suggestions but I didn't like any of them and he didn't like mine so we found a middle name that both of us fo.

Fiona.

"She's going to be called princess Fiona," Luciano said, his gaze set on our babygirl. She was still asleep and it surprised me as I thought babies were always whiny.

The longer I looked at her, the more concerned I got. The smile faded off my lips and I got off the chair before heading to the crib we had gotten. I gently placed her down on the comfortable bed and turned to Luciano, worry crippling inside me.

"She's a witch,"

"What?"

"I sensed something and it's the same feeling I get when witches are around. God." I slapped my hand over my head as tears stung my eyes, "It hasn't been a day and I can sense that she's witch. Why?"

"Calm down, Red." Luciano ran to my direction and grabbed me before I lost control. A stream of tears poured down my cheeks and I hugged him tightly. "It's all right, we knew that she was going to turn into something. It's better that she's a witch than a werewolf—the transformations are agonizing,"

"But—"

"We don't have to worry, Red." He cupped my face and whispered, "She will a choice to become one or not, just as you did. For now, we just have to be worried about her healthy life and upbringing."

I nodded my head and said, "You're right,"

We watched Fiona for most of the night and when it was time, we went back to our bed and curled our bodies against each other. I was doing a lot better, Jaqueline's herbs worked out well. There was going to be a small celebration at the castle tomorrow to welcome the princess of the Blackmaw Manes and I couldn't wait for it.

I couldn't wait for everything. From taking care of Fiona to watching her grew with every minute, it was all going to be wonderful.

I had the perfect family.
