Chapter : 11

Red

After taking a bath, I was allowed to wear the usual clothing that Nana gave to me before I left. It showed a bit of a skin, but at least it was comfortable unless like the dress. I wasn't royalty. I was just a normal girl from a town that ran under the creatures.

"Were you able to find my friend?" I asked Luciano as I stepped inside the eating room.

Valarie got me food, but I didn't eat it until he spoke. I wanted to know what happened to Lisa. Did she get someone nice? I was slightly thankful that I got Luciano as my mate, he was somewhat nice and somewhat evil.

"Yes, I know who she is mated to." His expression was a bit gloomy as he responded to my query.

"Who?" I asked as my heart jumped with excitement. "Can I see her? I want to see her," I stated.

"I don't think she's allowed to meet anyone," he trailed off.

The mischievous smile on my lips faded away, "Why?"

"Well, she is someone's mate, and if her mate allows her to meet, only then I can let you, otherwise, no chance." He explained.

My mouth hung open in my surprise. I looked away from Luciano. I wanted to see Lisa; she was the only person I cared about right now.

"But I want to see her,"

"That's enough, Red. I told you, if her mate allows only, then you will be able to see her." The storm returned into his eyes as fury gripped him.

I gulped down and nodded my head, "Whatever you say," I murmured before eating my food.

Now I had to find out who was Lisa's mate.

The creature soon left the house as he had some work to do, and a morning run to complete. As soon as he was gone, I went up to Valerie.

"Do you know my friend, Lisa? She was taken from the town last night," I asked.

"Lisa, I haven't heard that name before. What does she look like?" Valerie was doing the dishes when I stepped inside.

"She has golden hair, blue eyes, and she's pale. She was wearing a red kind of dress last night. I wasn't able to see who took her, but it was one of the creatures," I explained while remembering Lisa.

"I'm assuming that's girl is with the Beta,"

"The who?" I raised an eyebrow at her response.

"The Beta, he's second in command after the Alpha." She said. So, Luciano did know who took her.

"Do you know where I can see my friend?" I asked as I leaned on the kitchen counter.

"The beta resides with the former Alpha in the castle itself so you might find her there," she explained. A wicked smirk formed on my lips as the air thickened.

"Can you take me to the castle?"

"Alpha strictly said not to take you outside this house, I am sorry, Ms. Red."

I groaned and rolled my eyes. "Come on. It won't be an issue. I am just going to go see my friend, nothing else."

Maybe Luciano was worried that I would swoon over other men at the castle, but my urges were in control. I wasn't going to lust over anyone except for him.

"I would love to take you, but it's the Alpha's order, and I cannot go against his instructions," Valerie stopped the tap water and turned her attention at me.

"He won't say anything to you, I promise. Just take me there, and we will be back in no time. He's gone anyways. I am sure he wouldn't return any time soon!" I exclaimed.

Since when did I turn so smart? Ever since I came here, I questioned my own words. A day changed so much in me.

"Yes, he's actually for his morning run, so he won't return till an hour." Valerie sighed before continuing, "I will take you to the castle, but you will have to meet your friend quickly and come back with me."

"I will!" Excitement pumped in my veins as I jolted with happiness.

Lisa and I had so much to talk about.

"Great! Give me a moment, I will grab my bag, and I suggest that you change your clothes. The Alpha doesn't like it when someone looks at you with evil intentions," Valerie said as she stepped out of the kitchen.

I followed her behind and said, "Of course, I will change in a moment!"

"If you need any help, let me know."

"No, thank you, I will do this on my own." I smiled at Valerie before walking inside my bedroom. I swapped my comfortable clothes with a dress and then went back down.

We stepped inside the car that was parked out of the house. Valerie knew how to drive, so she took me to the castle.

"How long have you been working for the Alpha?" I asked while looking outside at the town.

It was massive. Triple the size of Whitebridge. There was a cathedral, church, and many other small shops. Men and women were walking around freely, laughing and giggling.

Were they creatures or humans?

"Over ten years," Valerie responded.

"That's long!"

"Yes, although, I didn't personally work for the Alpha until now." She said.

"Oh,"

Valerie pulled over at the long, metal gates of the castle. The guards approached her and asked what she wanted.

"Valarie Smith, I am here to see the Beta and his mate. This is Ms. Red, the Alpha's mate." She said to the guard, who nodded his head and then opened the gates for us.

Nervously, Valarie stopped outside the main entrance of the castle. Seeing it again in broad daylight made it more beautiful. The peeked behind one of the tall towers.

"Here we are," Valarie trailed off as she switched off the engine of the car and got outside.

I got out of the vehicle as well and immediately narrowed down my eyes when I saw the guards surrounded around me. This wasn't the time to swoon at their looks and imagine sinful things. Luciano wouldn't ever forgive me if I did that.

I quietly followed Valarie inside the castle while keeping my head down.

She laughed as she looked at me struggle, "You're in heat. I am assuming?"

"Yes," I sighed as we went up the stairs.

"Don't worry. It will all vanish away the moment the Alpha marks you,"

We walked through the massive hallways and then towards a thick wooden door. Valarie knocked on the door a couple of times till it didn't swing open. Happiness and excitement danced through my heart as I came across Lisa herself.

"Oh my god!" I exclaimed as I threw my hands on her.

"Red," she whispered as she glided her hands down my back. "I missed you,"

I turned around to Valarie and asked her to come a few minutes later when I was done with talking to Lisa. I didn't want her to hear me backbite and say foul things about my mate.

Once she was gone, I stepped inside the bedroom with Lisa.

"How are you?" I asked her.

A sheer gloom invaded her eyes as she looked at me. She didn't look well. The smile on my lips faded away as I saw the bruises on her cheeks. The hurt and longing laid naked in her eyes. I felt Lisa shudder as she drew in a sharp breath.

"What's wrong?" I asked as I placed my hand on her shoulder. She flinched upon my touch and moved back. Her hair cascaded to one side, and that when I saw the mark. It was red and deep inside the skin like someone bit her.

"What happened?" Worry spread through me as she didn't say a single word. "Tell me, Lisa," her stare drilled in me as she quivered.

"Who did this?"

"My mate,"
