Chapter 45
Chapter 45
It was time to say goodbye to Gloucester, a town I had just started to love. Goodbyes were always hard for me but this time it wasn't. I had my family by my side, my own family, the one I thought I had lost forever. Nana was missing along with my Mother but I knew from the bottom of my heart that they were looking down upon us.
Smiling.
"Are you ready?" Anna asked, heaving in a breath. "I thought I was but I'm no longer. This was such a fucked up adventure." She remained calm even with her use of dirty, frustrated language.
I glanced out of the car window. The mountains covered in snow were flashing by along with the treacherous trees. "I am ready." I stated with no regret. The town gave me a lot, it gave me life and I'd forget it.
"Of course you are." She grunted, shifting in the back seat and making herself comfortable as the ride to the port lasted for a few.
We were being driven by one of Dillion's men. I was beyond ready to run out and fly back, nothing could hold me here anymore. Anna was beside me only while the other's were driving another car.
A smile erupted across my face and my eyes sparkled for a second when the car parked at the port of Gloucester and I saw Luciano, waiting for me in the cold like it was his first time.
He gazed at me. I jumped out and wrapped my arms around him out of complete satisfaction. I was happy, excited and thousand more feelings surged through me in that minute.
"I can't believe we are going." I said while parting myself from him.
His cold fingers traced down my face as he cupped it. "We are and it's going to be amazing, Red."
A blush appeared on my cheeks and I narrowed my eyes, enough to shy away. I never thought this day was going to come as problems always rose and I had separated every time, sometimes from Luciano or Fiona.
"I can't wait to see our daughter. She'd probably won't remember me but it's fine, at least we will be together at the end of the day." A warm tear traced down my cold face. They were tears of happiness, not sadness.
"Yes," He reached down and kissed my forehead for a long second. It felt so right, so pure.
Our little, harmless session was interrupted by Anna and the other's that had arrived at the port at last. When Luciano saw Dillion, he got a little confused as I didn't tell him yet.
"I convinced him to come along with us." I told before he assumed anything else.
"Oh, wow, okay." When he looked over me, his eyes gleamed with desire and he gave me a quick kiss on my cheeks before turning around and ordering the men that stood behind us.
Wait.
I spotted an entire jet standing behind us. How did that happen? There was a crew along with it as well, talking with Luciano.
Anna came behind, "Is this one of the perks off being a King?" She asked me as if I knew the answer to that.
All along I thought being a King in this world, and time was just about power and not money. A shudder ran down my spine and I shook my head.
Focus, Red, we are going back to our home. I reminded myself. This was all about returning and gathering again, after months of being torn apart from each other. And, also, claiming what was going to be given to me at Lunaris.
I waited till Ben and Anna went into the plane. Followed them was Dillion and Cordelia. They didn't go as one but I knew for sure they'd be in there together. There were a couple wolves under Dillion that went in, for protection reasons and then, it was just me.
I enjoyed the winter breeze off England, knowing I was going to miss the cold once I went home. The sun was sinking and it was getting darker. The flight back home was going to be long, it was presumed to be more than eight hours.
Luciano swung his hand over my shoulder while standing beside me, "Do you want to stay here?"
I breathed hard, "No. I'm just a little terrified of going back home. Your parents, our daughter, your men, my foes—it's going to be hard, isn't it?" I peeked over to him and found no worry on his face. He always managed to stay unruffled while I was a mess.
"It is but we will go through it, I promise. Come, we don't want to get late."
I looked down at his hand when it reached for mine, wrapping me in it's ease before taking me away from the land I was standing on. Promises and words of honesty rung in my ears and I cracked a smile.
Luciano never let me down, not till date. He came here, looked for me, found me, and now he was taking me home.
Oh god.
How was I ever going to pay his kindness? It was a debt to me now.
We got inside the jet at last. The flight attendants greeted us warmly and showed us around the area. They were humans, neither witches nor wolves and I felt more comfortable than I could do ever.
It was a luxurious, sleek private plane. I sat down on the beige seats, just in front of Luciano while the attendant bought us wine. Nodding my head, I agreed on drinking some.
"How did you even get this in a short notice?" I raised my brow at Luciano. It was definitely suspicious. I could understand the over-flowing of gold and riches but getting a private jet in a town like this was nearly impossible.
"Contacts."
My brow stretched further to my forehead, "Contacts?"
"I know people."
"Around here?"
"Yes."
"Wolves?" I was no longer thinking about the plane but the people Luciano knew around here.
"Yes."
"I was attacked by a wolf..." It came out quick and by the time I heard my own words, I slapped my hand over my mouth and wished I could take them back.
Luciano jerked forward, "What? When did this happen? And where?" He checked on me immediately, not only with the thousands questions but swarming his hand across my arms and legs till he found out the cut on my left leg. "How did this happen?" He asked, kneeling beside me.
"It's nothing—it doesn't hurts."
"Who attacked you, Red? Was it Bernard? Because I will leave this plane right away and kill him if I have too." He gritted his teeth and almost growled between humans.
"No. Someone else. Not from here." I said, "I was practicing to shift with Cordelia nearby woods because I thought I lost my wolf but the second I shifted, someone attacked me."
"Was it someone from Dillion's pack? Did you kill him?"
"Yes, yes, Cordelia killed him or her but it wasn't from Dillion's pack and it wasn't a rogue either." Between the breaths, I shrugged and looked away. "It could be anyone that saw an opportunity to kill a wolf and decided to take it. Nothing serious." I turned my eyes on Luciano again and flattened my palm against his face. "We are leaving and it's okay."
"It's not." He groaned and got off the ground. "You were hurt and you didn't tell me." He said, sitting back on his seat.
I stood up and went over him to sit on his lap instead of a leather plane seat. I draped my arm over his shoulder and the other one across his chest.
"I'm sorry, I was just overwhelmed." I pouted, hoping he'd understood and let it go. Cordelia did manage to kill whoever attacked me and that was all.
"Don't hide anything from me again."
"Yes, Luciano, I won't."
"Good."
