"Do I have to?"

Jimin looked at me with a raised eyebrow. "Tae, we talked about this."

"Fine. Okay, um, here I go." I stood up slowly from my chair next to Jimin and made my way to Jungkook.

"Hey," I spoke softly as I placed myself gently next to him.

He glanced up from his phone. "Hi." His gaze once again would not meet mine.

An awkward silence filled the air. I knew the meeting would start any moment, and I wouldn't be able to do it after.

It had to be now.

"Look, I don't want anything to be awkward between us."

"It's going to be a little awkward," he stated, still not meeting my eyes.

"I-I like you too, Jungkook, okay? And I wanted to see if you wanted to grab an early dinner after this meeting?"

Jungkook's eyes finally met mine. "You don't want to do that."

I raised an eyebrow at his statement. "Excuse me?"

Jungkook looked around before abruptly standing up. He pulled me away from the circle, where nobody else could listen in.

"Tae, I confessed that stuff to you and now you want to go on a date with me out of pity. You don't need to. You don't like me. You don't need me in your life. I'm fine without you, okay? I don't need you to convince yourself you like me in return."

He started to walk back to the group, but my hand grabbed his, stopping him.

"You think this is out of pity? Jungkookie, my God. How could you think so lowly of yourself? You don't understand how I feel. I had these feelings before you confessed to me. Your breakdown only made me realize that I needed to do something. You don't just need me, Kook, but I need you. We need each other. I asked you on this date because I think we can really be something, but if you're not interested, then I won't bother asking again."

Now it was my turn to walk back, just as Rosè called the meeting to order.

After saying our prayer and adjourning the meeting, I rushed out of the building with flushed cheeks.

All throughout the meeting my body felt like it was on fire. Maybe it was the adrenaline coarsing through my veins.

As I began my walk home, Jungkook shouted my name from behind me, making me stop in my tracks.

I turned around to face him, watching as he sprinted the few yards separating us.

"Tae, thank God I caught you."

I pursed my lips together, crossing my arms across my chest.

"I-I would've said this before, but the meeting started. Tae, I'm sorry. I'm not used to people... needing me in their life. It's been just me and Yoongi for several years, with the break in there for Yugyeom. It's hard to accept outsiders."

"What exactly are you saying?" I questioned.

Jungkook sighed. "Are you hungry? I'd like to give us dating a try, if you still want to?"

"I'm not hungry," I stated, watching as his face fell.

"I-I understand, um... Okay."

I shook my head, putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'm fucking starving. Let's go."
