Chapter 2

**Found this picture on Google and thought it was the perfect one to give you an image of what I see as the two destructive boys you'll meet in this chapter ;-)**

Dedicated to ImagineSkyline for guessing who's being introduced!

Haley's POV

After a long day filming, my favorite thing to do is ballet.

Was it crazy that I like to do more physical exercise after a grueling work day?

Yes.

But, ballet has always been my comfort zone. It reminds me of my childhood, of my parents, and of dancing in my childhood backyard under the twinkling stars and the light of fireflies around me. There's a relaxation to it that released all the tension from my limbs and made me feel like anything I'd gone through in the day had been rendered obsolete.

That, however, can only happen when I don't have my twin nephews yelling at the top of their lungs about how much they love bananas and yogurt while running away from my sister who was trying to get them into their shirts.

"Oh my God! Daniel and David, shut up about the bananas already! Nobody cares!" I yelled at them from my spot on the floor where I was trying to regain my sanity in order to begin dancing again.

My twin two year old nephews stopped in front of me to stick their tongues out and sing some more, and their stop allowed my sister the reprieve she needed to capture them in a deadlock while she wrestled their shirts on. They pouted adorably at the offending plaid shirts, but when they went to take it off, my sister gave them her scary mom look.

"Try it. Just try it."

They looked at each other with wide eyes and wisely chose to run upstairs to watch TV while Amy slumped down next to me.

"There, there sis. It's not that bad. They're little angels, really." I reassured her. She looked up at me and glared.

"Ugh, shut up. It's all Noah's fault, anyway. Don't worry, he says, we'll be fine. We can absolutely start trying to have a baby. We survived a month of the Intensive Death Camp for Dancers; a baby will be nothing. This is what I get for listening to that clown. Not one, but two monsters that are just like him."

I snickered at the thought of my carefree brother in law, Noah. I still remembered the the day Amy went into labor and was shouting every curse word known to man as she went through labor pins for twelve hours. Noah just stood next to her with his mouth gaping open at what he was seeing, until he finally fainted after seeing Daniel's head start coming out of Amy.

"Speak of the devil and he arrives," Amy murmured softly as the sound of the front door opening up reverberated throughout the basement, followed by the quick pitter-patter of the twins feet as thy ran to greet their dad.

Amy and I walked upstairs after my failed attempt at relaxation, and we were greeted by the heartwarming sight of Noah with my two nephews on his broad shoulders, twisting them around in the air until they begged to be let down.

"Oh sure, now you get here, after I've gone through all the work of putting the shirts on the boys." Amy grumbled at Noah with a glare. His eyes turned to her with a mischievous spark hidden in their painfully familiar turquoise depths.

"Baby, I just got back from a ten-hour intensive dance rehearsal. As much as I would love to fight with you on how terrible a husband I am, I would much rather enjoy my absolutely gorgeous bride."

Amy quirked a stern eyebrow that stopped him in his tracks as he went in for an embrace.

"If you think you are getting within a five foot radius of me while you stink to high heaven and while I am remembering what I have had to go through today alone, you are very sorely mistaken Noah Steinfeld. So, I suggest you go and take a shower and think real hard on what you can do to make this day up to me."

Noah smirked and hugged her tightly before she could run away, dipping her until her black ponytail hit the hardwood floor, and gave her a kiss worthy of an MTV best kiss award. When he got them straightened up again, he pressed his forehead against hers and pressed one last kiss on her lips, before separating from her and giving her the smile that I'm pretty sure made her fall in love with him.

"How's that for making it up to you, sweetheart?" He asked with a wink. "Nice to see you, Hales, we'll catch up after I shower so the princess doesn't smell my sweat."

He left the room with a spring in his step and his work out bag over his shoulder, and I turned to see my sister struggling to stay mad while her lips twitched, desperate to smile at Noah's antics.

"When he doesn't exasperate the hell out of me, he makes me fall in love with him all over again. How am I supposed to stay mad at him when he does that?"

And so, chuckling at my very suave brother in law, both of us went on to the kitchen to get dinner ready.

One Week Later

"Hale Bell, the phone wants you!" Maiko yelled from her spot in the living room.

I came out of my room, still drying my hair with a towel, and glared at the petit girl lounged comfortably on the plush, gray couch watching NCIS:LA.

"How exactly do you know it's for me?"

She looked over at me with a serene smile as I went to grab the phone that her lazy butt wouldn't.

"I didn't, but I felt that you should be the one to pick it up. Thanks, love."

Rolling my eyes, I picked up the relentless phone as she went back to binge watching her show.

"Hello?"

"I have got an absolutely great new project for you!" My agent's voice answered excitedly through the phone. She never announced who she was, she simply expected me to know her voice and move on with the conversation.

"Ellen, I love you. I really do, but I'm also considering murdering you. Do you understand the fact that I just finished filming a movie a week ago? I do not want to think about a movie until another week goes by at the very least." I grumbled, plopping myself to on the couch next to Maiko who was munching on popcorn and snorting at my misfortune.

Ellen sighed.

"Haley, you forget I know you better than you know yourself. You've always been the type of person who needs a project to work on. Heck, I bet you're already going stir crazy."

I pursed my lips and narrowed my eyes, hating the fact that she was right and smart enough to know it.

"Okay fine, you got me. I'm bored and I want to do something besides trying to come up with new songs. What's this new movie about?" Ellen squeals through the phone.

"Okay, so have you heard of the book "The Dancing Princess"?" She asked.

"I think I saw it on a trip to the bookstore the other day, but I don't really know what it's about."

"Okay, well the book skyrocketed in popularity and it was immediately taken into consideration for a movie. The author has given the production rights to Universal Studios, and they managed to get Cecilia Stewart to direct it." My jaw dropped at the big name director that every actor dreamed of producing a movie with, but Ellen wasn't done.

"Honey, you will not guess what Cecilia said the second she read the novel and the script and started thinking of the cast."

"What?"

"She remembered you from that movie you did two years ago, The Long Way Home, and she thinks you'd be perfect to play the lead!"

"Are you serious! That's amazing!" I exclaim, thinking of the wonders this movie could do for my career.

"That's not all! Because the movie is really centered on dance, she also thinks Maiko and Lindsey would be great to costar as the girls who become the leads' best friends."

"Maiko and Lindsey would be with me? Oh my God, I feel like this is project sent down from the heavens just for me!" Maiko looks away from the TV screen as she hears her name and frowns at me, but I put a finger up so she knows to wait a minute.

"Yes, I thought so as well. Now, you would all still have to audition, and I know Maiko has never been in a big name movie before and Lindsey has only played minor roles, but I really think you girls can nail this. So, are you interested?"

"Obviously!" Ellen laughed.

"Alright, then I'll send you a text with everything you need to know after i hang up. Ciao, darling!"

I hung up the phone and turned toward an annoyed looking Maiko.

"What did the the talk-o-matic want?"

Maiko had dubbed Ellen the "talk-o-matic" the second she met her, claiming Ellen "talks way too much for her own good and never gets to the point". She, of course, never mentioned this in front of Ellen herself who'd gotten her all of her gigs as a dancer to date.

"She's found a movie that's going to be looking for a cast list soon, and she thinks all three of us will be able to audition for it."

Maiko's eyes lit up and she opened her mouth to speak, but just as she did so, Lindsey crashed through the front door in her typical dramatic flare, threw her purse and keys on the coffee table, and flounced unto the loveseat. Looking at us from between the golden strands covering her face, she raised an eyebrow at our apparent excitement.

"What's up besties?"

"The talk-o-matic called and said she found a big name, dance centered movie that she thinks all three of us can get a part in." Maiko explained. Lindsey shot up in her seat and grabbed the HP laptop from the table.

"What's the name of the movie? I want to look it all up this instant." Lindsey demanded.

"Ellen said it was called 'The Dancing Princess', and that it was going to be adapted from a book, but not much else."

Lindsey searched the title in Google and then plopped herself in between us, helping herself to a bit of popcorn on Maiko's lap and getting crumbs everywhere.

"Okay, so it says 'The Dancing Princess' was published two years ago and became an instant hit. The author, an Evelyn Rodriguez, was contacted within a year for a movie deal." Lindsey said, reading off of Wikipedia.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, whatever, get to what the freaking book is about," Maiko demanded. Rolling her eyes, Lindsey clicked on the extended plot summary for the actual book and continued.

"The Dancing Princess is a teen fiction and romance novel that follows an eighteen year old girl, Scarlett Carlisle, whom grew up as an orphan in a small village in California, but whose life was completely turned around when a man arrived on her tenth birthday telling her that her biological brother had sent him to find her because she was the long lost princess of Lavern, a small sovereign country near the coast of England, for which he became king after the slaughter of their parents. She moved to be with him, leaving behind her best friend since early childhood, Dillon Montgomery. Eight years later, she returns to the village to help out the music program that helped her so much as a kid and that was going to be shut down from lack of funds, and she reunites with Dillon, who's become a famous singing and dancing sensation and comes to help as well after hearing the program's misfortune. The two reunite as best friends after a few heated arguments, and they slowly begin to fall in love. However, trouble comes from Scarlet's brother as he brings her back home once the music program has been restored, refusing to allow her to become a dancer and wanting her to stay as a noble in Lavern. Dillon, then, has to find a way to convince her to fight for her dream to become a singer and dancer, and break free from the future her brother wants to impose."

"Wow," Maiko deadpaned. "That was a ridiculously long summary. Did you have to pick the overly long description of the book?"

"Well, I wanted to know as much as I could about it, so I would know if I wanted to audition or not." Lindsey immediately answered defensively. I put myself between the bickersome twins to put a stop to the argument.

"Okay girls, focus. Look at the big picture. Should we audition for this movie or not?"

We looked at each other uncertainly for a few seconds before Lindsey finally breaks the silence.

"I did like how the plot summary sounded, and honestly, it sounds right up our alley. We all love romantic comedy."

I nodded as she spoke, knowing that my favorite were always the ones that dealt with romantic comedy. We both looked over at Maiko to find her inspecting her nails boredly, but she looked up as she felt our stares and sighed.

"Oh, what the heck. I'm more of a horror movie girl, but there's no way I'm going to stay in this house alone waiting for the talk-o-matic to find something for me to do while you guys have all the fun."

"Alright girls!" Lidsey exclaimed, clapping her hands with excitement. "I'll go call Ellen and tell her to set things up! This is going to be so great, you guys just watch!"

As she left the room, Maiko shook head and turned to me with a raised eyebrow.

"Mark my words, Hale bell, something will happen on this project. I have that feeling of foreboding. Whether it's good or bad, I'm not sure yet, but something is definitely coming."
