On September 9, 2001 four coordinated attacks were launched against the US killing almost 3,000 people and injuring more than 6,000 more.
Two planes were flown into the World Trade Organization, and in less than two hours they were completely flattened. The debris voided the rest of the organization to collapse as well.
Once the US had a suspect, the war on terrorism had begun.

Many other countries made changes as a result of this event. There was now tighter security when traveling to and from the US as well as many others. The world that people were born into post 2001 would never be the same.
