Boris/Theo: 17

"Stop moving and let me braid your hair."

Boris lay on the floor of Theo's room. "Do you think octopuses are normal sea animals?" Boris said, his hair splaying out under him.

Theo responded from his perch on the bed, "What?"

"Do you think other sea animals look at octopuses, like, 'what the fuck is that with all its arms and shit?'" They were both drunk, it seemed to Theo as if they were always drunk. Why would this moment be any different?

"I don't know, Boris." Theo flopped down onto the mattress, tired of holding his body up. "Maybe they don't care? Because I sure as hell know I don't care."

Boris sat up suddenly, his hair sticking up from the static electricity of the carpet. "We should go out!"

Theo groaned. Boris always wanted to go out when he was drunk. They usually ran around town doing stupid shit, occasionally Boris would get Theo to steal something. Theo didn't think he was a regular kid, but those were the moments when he felt like one.

"Seriously, Potter, let's go out and run through the dirt and shit," Boris said, bouncing up onto the bed to further annoy Theo.

"Why don't we just get crossfaded here?" Theo whined. "We don't need to go out to have fun, right?"

"Ah, that is a good point, Potter." Boris turned to grab at his jacket, which was still on the floor. He pulled a joint and lighter out of the jacket, "Should we take this outside?"

"Fuck you." Theo shoved Boris and the polish boy tumbled off the bed, before getting comfortable with his position on the floor. "The point was to stay here," Theo whined, before pulling himself off the bed and beginning to walk downstairs, completely ignoring Boris.

They ended up sitting on the edge of the pool, Theo had rolled up his pants and dipped his feet into the water, while Boris had opted to remove his pants completely.

"Do you think-" Boris started a lot of questions with 'do you think.' "The stars are watching us?"

Theo took the joint from Boris, who almost looked like he was going to drop it into the pool. "I think you need to stop asking stupid questions."

"Come on, Potter, do you think the stars are watching us?"

Theo actually thought about it before answering. "I don't fucking know, Boris, chill out." Boris looked at Theo with the most reproachful look. "Fine, I guess it makes sense that the stars could be watching us. Especially if you believe in aliens."

"Ooh, aliens. Do you believe in aliens, Potter?"

Theo rolled his eyes, "Aliens aren't right." The weed was starting to hit him, making so nothing he said made much sense.

Boris looked at him funny, "Aliens are in space. Like, Godzilla!"

"Godzilla isn't from space."

"No, I think he is," Boris retorted before stripping off his shirt and slipping into the pool. Theo sighed and joined him, not even bothering to remove his clothes.

The silence of the pool was deafening, the quiet feeling in his head was overwhelming. The silence felt like a new day, a new life, being born again. The pull under felt like an overwhelming pressure, reminding him of the pressure of the dirt and the silence in his ears. Reminding him of the MET, the bomb, the noise that had enveloped his entire life. It only stopped when he was with Boris, the silence in his head was wonderful.

He was pulled out fo his thoughts by Boris, who dragged him to the surface of the water, "Fuck, Potter. Stop trying to kill yourself, God." Boris' face was contorted into some sort of pained expression.

Theo coughed, he hadn't inhaled any water, nor was he trying to die, this time. "Sorry," he whispered.

"Let's just go inside, you're not to be trusted by water, or cars, or knives, or-"

"I get it."

They pulled themselves inside. Theo sat on the bed, carding his fingers through Boris' curly hair. "Do you have a hair tie?" Theo asked.

Boris turned his head, to look Theo in the eyes. "Are you going to braid my hair," Boris asked, sounding excited.

"Maybe, if you stop moving." Theo shoved Boris down into a position where it was easier to braid his hair.

Boris wiggled around, trying to get comfortable, but just messing up Theo's chances of getting a good braid to stick in the boy's curly hair.

"God, stop moving and let me braid your hair!"

"Come on, Potter, I'm just trying to get comfortable," Boris told him. "You can't get mad at me."

Theo shrugged, "Too late, I'm already mad." He fake growled at Boris, pretending to be grumpy.

Boris smiled and closed his eyes, getting lost in the feeling of Theo's fingers in his hair. The feeling of nails against his scalp lulling him to sleep.
