Carus nuzzles my hand gently. "It's gonna be okay Vitrea. I'm sure you'll make a great soldier." She says trying to reassure me.

I smile a little. "Thanks... If they let me stay in school that is. What good is a Mavor with no powers?" I ask softly. I sit on the ground and pet Carus thinking.

Carus sighs. "You can't think like that Vitrea. You're strong. You don't need a to be a soldier. You just need to outsmart your enemy."

I nod a little. "Alright I'll try that." I say thinking. "I'll be a Major just like Mom and Dad." I promised myself. I head to my room. "Carus... How do crystals work on Amicus?" I ask holding the crystal the doctor gave me.

"Oh that's simple. The Ardor energy inside mutates us slightly to use the powers of the Mavor that filled the crystal. It might be a little different from the Mavors powers. It depends." She says.

"I see... So does it take a while to work?" I ask. I wanted to know how long it'd be until I know if it'll work.

"It usually takes a week or so before any powers come through the first time. If you have to change crystals than it'll happen almost instantly." She says

"Oh... Do you think that it'll work on me? The doctor says it might." I ask shyly. I need powers...

"I don't know. I've never heard of a Mavor being able to use crystals before but it might happen." She explained obviously worried.

I smile a little. "I hope it does. Can you imagine me being able to freeze something? Or to fly? That would be nice." I say looking down at the crystal.

Carus nuzzles my hand a little. "I'm sure you'll get powers one way or another." She says. She went to say something but she quickly stopped herself.

"What is it?" I ask confused. Carus didn't usually hide stuff. She tended to say what she was thinking.

"Well your parents will have to tell you." She says glancing around the house a little. "Well you parents found something in the arctic but I can't tell you more than that." She says.

I just look at her a bit lost. "Found something?" What could they possibly find that would have something to do with me? "Okay Carus I'll ask them about it." I pet her a little and look around the house.

My head was spinning. There's no way they found something that could help me with my powers right? There's nothing in the arctic. Just a few animals but that's it. Right?
