prologue

My face grows tremendously hot as I breathe into what appeared to be the back of some type of bag, which was thrown around my head. My mind was still bustling with what was going on and why Jade would do something like this, but most importantly, she was alive. And furthermore, she was an alpha.

How?

I didn't have an answer yet to that insane question, but I had a gut feeling that I would figure it out soon. Someone drags me along as I stumbled across what felt to be concrete, but I wasn't for certain. I had a feeling that it was Jade, but her grip was much stronger than what I remembered. Then again, she was a werewolf now, so it would make sense.

I wanted to say something. I wanted to ask whoever was tugging on me what was going on and why they wanted me, but I couldn't do it for some reason. All of that confidence I had when I was dead was gone because well...I didn't have much to lose then. Now I had to fight to stay alive, and I had a feeling that was going to be a lot more harder in Beacon Hills.

I feel something trickle down the side of my head as I try to look up, but it was too dark under the bag to see anything. If I had to guess, it was blood from where Jade had knocked me out, meaning that she must have hit my head harder than what I had originally thought. It felt weird to actually bleed again; to know that I was actually alive.

Other than thinking about all of these things while I was being dragged along, I couldn't help but think of Allison. I kept repeating in my mind over and over again that she would save me, but she left. She's on a plane right now, flying high above over the ocean, listening to some rock band on her phone while I was being kidnapped. She might even be taking a nap right now, waiting to finally reach her destination so she could FaceTime me, but I wouldn't be able to answer. I wondered if she would think I had betrayed her of some sort for practically cutting her off, but I knew better. She would have to think something was wrong and come back...right?

As much as I wanted her to come and get me out of this mess, I didn't want her involved. If these people wanted me, it was for a reason, and if I am able to get out of this, I don't want them knowing that Allison means that much to me. They could use her as some type of leverage that way, and I didn't want her getting hurt. It was the last thing I'd ever want.

All of a sudden the hand jerks me downwards so that I'm kneeling on my knees, my hands still tied behind my back. My chest heaves huge breaths as I wait for something to happen, trying to listen to my surroundings, but it was as quiet as a graveyard. All I hear is someone walk around in front of me, feeling as if I had a million eyes watching me.

"Take it off," I hear a low voice say, almost sounding mysterious. Light floods back to my eyesight as my eyes flick up to the voice, seeing a muscular man standing there with a cane in his hands. It wasn't until I looked at his face that I noticed that he had glasses on, indicating that he was, in fact, blind.

I try and study his facial features just in case, but I stopped as soon as the woman in front of me catches my attention, it definety not being Jade. Red eyes burned into my own as she snarls at me, her teeth poking through her lips. There was something about her that gave me a weird vibe, maybe because she was barefoot and looked like she gave no shits about who knew what she was.

"Well if it isn't the famous Corey Walker," the man says, a smile spreading across his face. It made me wonder what he meant by famous, but I guess I was about to find out.

I grunt as I try to pull the rope that was bound around my hands, but it was useless. "How do you know who I am?"

"Know who you are? Well, it's not that hard considering your best friend told me everything there is to know," he says as his fingers dance along the top of his cane, sending chills up my spine. "It's not me knowing who you are you should be worrying about, but what I want from you."

My heart races. "What do you want from me? Girl scout cookies?"

"Another sarcastic one," the girl groans slightly, rolling her eyes. "How lovely."

I raise an eyebrow at her comment. "There's more where that came from."

She growls at me before the man turns to her. "Kali, that's enough. Why don't you go fetch our other hostage."

The girl, Kali, nods her head before turning and walking off, her claws clicking against the concrete flooring. It was then when I looked around at my other surroundings, seeing that this place sure was broken down. There was debris everywhere, and to me, it appeared to be a bank.

"How rude of me, I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? My name is Deucalion, the leader of the alpha pack," he says with a sinister smile, causing goosebumps to rise on my arms.

"So you're the one who did this to Jade," I say with spite in my tone.

Deucalion takes a deep breath before continuing. "Well, yes. Only because we saw something in her that's hard to find these days...strength. But you already know that, don't you?"

It was true. Jade was one of the strongest people I've known, other than Allison. She was one of those girls who always hid in the back of the room, but if you were to lay a finger on her, you'd regret it. I didn't learn that until the day her sister had gotten into a fight at school, causing Jade to go attack mode. When I had gotten there to see what she had done to the guy, I could barely tell who it even was.

"Moving on from Jade," Deucalion says, starting to pace back and forth. "Tell me Corey, have you ever heard of a seer?"

My eyes narrow, wondering what this was all about. "What are you talking about?"

"A person who uses supernatural insight to predict the future," he says while stopping finally, his hands resting on the top of his cane. "Sometimes however they can see the past. Think of it as like a psychic, if you will."

I shake my head. "What does this have to do with anything?"

Deucalion looks over his shoulder as Kali walks back, someone with a bag over their head in hand. For some reason the person's figure looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. It wasn't until Kali tossed the person to the ground and ripped the bag off of their head when I saw that bright blonde hair...Erica.

"You know her, don't you?" Kali says, a smile stretching across her face.

I shake my head, swallowing the lump in my throat. "No, I-"

"Of course you do," Deucalion smirks. "You might play me as an idiot, Corey, but even I know that you died a couple of months ago."

Erica looks up as her hair falls to the side, confused as to what was going on. For some reason, some type of rage built up inside me as I stared at Deucalion, mad that he had kidnapped me and Erica for a reason unknown to me. It also seemed that he knew almost everything about me, meaning that he was dangerous. He could expose me or even go after Allison.

"So what do you want with me," I say, gritting my teeth. "Just get to the damn point."

Deucalion starts to pace again, making my heart race faster. "I've only heard about one other person coming back to life the same way you had, but they're too dead to be of use to me. You, my friend, have an ability that no one else has, and that is why I need you."

"Do you expect me to know what you're talking about? Because I don't," I snap. "If you know everything about me, then you should know I've only gotten thrown into this whole supernatural drama a couple of months ago."

I could tell I was testing his patience. "Why don't you try it out yourself?"

I have no fucking idea what he was even talking about. It was like he was expecting me to know everything that he said, but I didn't. After a couple of seconds of just sitting there in confusion, Kali finally marched over to me and untied my hands, yanking me before my right hand rested on Erica's arm.

I couldn't describe what happened after that. It was like I was getting some type of vision...a vision of the future or the past, I couldn't tell. But what I saw was Erica, looking completely different than what she did now, crying in her room. I didn't get to see that for long before the images were changing--shifting. It was like I was getting a whole glimpse at her life story, literally making my brain hurt.

I feel my hand get tugged away as I gasp, my eyes wide as I tried to focus where I was, here and now. The first thing I see is Kali grinning down at me, her claws almost digging into my wrist. I worried at first that they were going too deep, but blood wasn't drawn yet, so I was fine. I'm panicked as I look around, trying to read both of their faces.

"You saw something, didn't you?" Kali grins, her red eyes burning into me.

I shake my head. "H-How-"

"You'll learn to control it," Deucalion says. "But in the meantime, I hope you enjoy your stay."

Kali laughs then, grabbing my hands fiercely before tugging me off of the ground, walking over to something that appeared to be a bank vault. I try to get away from her, but it was useless. She was stronger than me, and even if I were to get away, where would I go? It wasn't like I could run.

I grunt as Kali throws me inside of the vault, causing me to land on my hands and knees. My eyes search the darkness quickly before I look back at her, watching as she grabbed the handle to the vault, starting to shut it as she grinned at me.

"Hope you're not afraid of the dark."

With one swift pull, the last light beams disappear as I'm plunged into darkness.

--------

So like I'm addicted to writing these chapters now, it's unhealthy.

But a new ability for Corey! I thought that since I practically stripped him away from all of his others, I'd give him a new one. Plus, it's a reason he could stay involved with everything else going on around him, such as the werewolves, banshee's, kitsunes, ect.

Vote and comment maybe?
