"Did everyone finish their book analysis I assigned last month?" Mrs. Goldberg asked as soon as we could see her coming through the classroom door. She never says 'hi' or lets us get settled in or anything; she gets right to teaching and keeps us working until the bell. Yeah, she's that teacher.
She's an older lady who always wears a business outfit and has a neck thing for her glasses. Before I met Mrs. Goldberg, I never believed such teachers actually existed.
Whispers arose throughout the room as people muttered obscenities towards the assignment they forgot. Luckily, I remembered to complete my assignment. It's surprising how much one can accomplish with no phone to distract them, yet still be dead bored all the time.
Out of a class of like twenty kids, Mrs. Goldberg received about nine sheets of paper. She assigned detention to anyone who didn't turn it in, and all of the irresponsible suckers groaned.
"Of course Logan did the freaking work," muttered the kid behind me. His name was Perry. I wasn't sure why he was popular; I never paid attention. He liked to be a nuisance and bug the heck out of me, but I ignored him a good percentage of the time, much to his dissatisfaction.
I felt him lean forward and whisper close to my ear. "Did you notice the only other people who did the stupid report were girls?"
"Sweet," I replied, not even bothering to turn around and look at him. "I heard girls like responsibility."
"Dang--"
"Is there a problem, Mr. Banks?" Mrs. Goldberg was giving Perry the eye. Well, technically she was giving him both of the eyes.
He leaned back in his seat with an annoyed grunt.
Mrs. Goldberg gave the class something new to work on until the bell rang. Soon, the bell did ring, and I was prepared to attempt to get to my next class as quickly as possible.
I scooped up my things, not even putting them in my backpack, and bolted out the door. I made it about halfway before it happened. Again.
Tiffany Hancock. She wasn't too popular, or super nerdy. She was mostly average, in terms of popularity. But she was freaking weird.
I mean, I knew who she was before this year. She was just that girl Tiffany people would mention every now and then. I guess she never knew who I was, though, because as soon as she laid her eyes on me about three weeks ago, she jogged up and said, "Who are you?"
Basically, I'd keep brushing off everything she said and try to get to class in peace, but it turned into and everyday thing. Tiffany would try to lure me into who knows what.
"Hey, Logan!" she called, hurrying to catch up with me. "Where were ya back there?"
"I'm trying to get to class."
"What's the rush?"
"What's the point in going slower?"
Tiffany flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder, hitting me with it as she did so. I rolled my eyes.
"You could talk to friends or something," she said.
"No, I'd rather be out of the hall and away from the stupid people," I replied, hoping she'd get the message.
I mean, I certainly didn't want to be rude to her, but this was getting ridiculous.
"Yeah, people can be pretty stupid," she agreed.
"Don't you have somewhere to be, Tiffany?"
"Just here with you."
That's when I lost it. I tightened my grip on the stuff in my hands and ran away from her. I'd deal with the aftermath later.

The first thing I heard when I opened the door to my house was Anthony.
"Mom, why does the toilet paper only have one layer?"
"I forgot to buy more last time I went to the store, so I had to break into the emergency stash," Mom told him.
"Why does the emergency stash only have single ply toilet paper?!"
"I don't know. For some reason your dad thinks if you're fighting for survival, you need to rough it."
"An emergency is no excuse for discomfort."
"Try telling that to your father."
"Maybe I will." He threw himself on the couch and picked up a comic book.
"Oh, hey honey!" Mom said when she saw me.
"Hey, Mom."
"Walmart called. I chewed him out for trying to call you during school, but told him he could call back later."
"Oh. Oops."
Mom snickered.
It was silent for a few minutes before Mom said, "Oh, shoot. I have to go pick up my glasses. Could you go get the kids from school for me?"
"Which kids?"
"Anna and Presley."
"Where's Lily going?"
"Oh. I guess you'd better go get her, too."
I sighed and stood up. Mom grabbed her purse and hurried out to her little car while I trudged toward the door with the keys to the minivan in hand.
Just as I was leaving, the phone rang.
"Logan!" Anthony called. "Get the stupid phone!"
"Dude! You get it. I'm leaving."
"It's Walmart!"
I groaned loudly and stepped back in the house to pick up the phone.
"Hello?"
"Is Mr. Evans home?"
"Which one?"
"Logan?"
"Yeah. That's me."
"Hello, Logan. I'm calling to tell you that your application has been accepted and you can begin working as an employee at Walmart next week, after a few days of training."
"Oh, uh, cool. Thanks."
He went on to tell me the dates I needed to be there and when, and we'd work out a work schedule later.
"You'll receive your first paycheck on December 21st. Have a nice day."
Are you serious? I almost said it out loud. "Um, you too, sir."
The line went dead.
I might as well have just asked for a charger for Christmas. Oh well. Now I have a job at Walmart.
I continued in my task to pick the kids up from school. All in all, Lily was ticked because her school lets out before the elementary school, and I was supposed to get her first. Instead I ended up waiting for Anna and Presley and by the time I got to the middle school, Lily had been waiting for thirty minutes.
She could definitely use a lesson in patience.

Yo. Wassup?
Anyway, you can see now more of Logan's life than just the reunion. It's kind of weird for me to write because I'm used to it being so boxed in around that one event.
But here it is! Deeper, rounder...and such.
Don't forget to vote! Thanks for reading!
Things will get more interesting in chapter three. ;) And intense....
And I'm excited for chapter four!
Ahhhhhh I wanna post it all but it doesn't exist yet. Lol. Ok bye.
