"Are we ever gonna tell him about his break down? I mean he obviously doesn't know. Yet, he should before it happens again..I mean we're supposed to go back to that village in a few days..."Diane sighed looking down. She seemed upset. Then again everyone was when remembering that. No one had ever seen him before like that. At least no one alive. It was terrifying to think about it happening again and it ending in Meliodas hurting someone. Or dare anyone think hurt himself.
"I...I mean I don't think we should. If it were me I'd be to terrified to talk about it or even mention it. I would drop dead knowing someone knew my best kept secret." King spoke up feeling guilty. He had been avoiding Meliodas all day. Yet, only because he didn't wanna bring up what happened three nights ago. However it was the only thing he could think off. It was all he wanted to talk about with his friend yet, he didn't want to upset him anymore.
"But, what if he's been so scared to tell us because of how we might react? He might have thought we would all blame him or something like that. I mean the mind's thoughts aren't very nice and make no sense after you lose a loved one. Trust me, my thoughts made no sense after my adopted mother died. I blamed my self for her death for years but, I couldn't have known that she would die when she did. I couldn't have even caused her death. Yet, my kind made me think it was my fault. I think we should tell sir Meliodas so we can support him." Elizabeth sighed heading downstairs. She had double checked that he was asleep. Once she knew he was for sure, everyone had begun talking. Yet, she was still on edge. She didn't know what he would react like if he over heard them talking about this.
"Okay fair point but, what if we make the issue worse by bring it up? What if bring up her mind make shim break again and he hurts not us but, himself in some way? When we were holy knights for the first time, we had thus knight whom was so powerful everyone he worked with, feared him. H..his wife and children died in a fire. If you brought up his wife after that, he would break down and sob and attack you...we were called to capture him so he could get help yet, someone had mentioned his youngest daughter an hour before we went up...when we got to his house..."King trailed off, face darkening at the memory.
"He had slit his throat long entire we got there. And there was no prof that's what happened King." Diane spoke up looking just as upset as he was.
"I know but what if we bring it up and the same thing happens to the Captain? What if he seems fine when we go to bed and then in the morning we find that the ended his own life so his mind didn't keep playing tricks on him? Or what if he almost ended his own life and his body is permanently damaged because of it? How would any of us react if our captain did that because of something we said?" King asks slowly. He must have been thinking about this a lot just judging by his face and how upset he looked. Diane just rested her hand on his shoulder, now tiny as everyone else now due to a spell head Merlin had given her. He glance up at her as she gave a comforting smile.
"King, the Captain is much stronger than any of us. I mean he always comforted us and worked others we know to work through other issues. I mean he talked with you about your feelings when that holy knight you liked died. And he talked with Ban about his guilt of Elaine before any of us knew about it. Heck he's even helped me over my own guilt over all my past actions that resulted in a death. And believe me, I've needed help over that more than once." Diane smiled trying to cheer him up.
"But what if he's lying about how good his mental health is? He could just be pulling a wall up over our eyes. And this could cause it to break so badly that we could lose him." King exclaimed looking up at Diane, seeming fearful. It was like he was afraid that they would lose him no matter what. Like no matter the actions they took Meliodas would die.
"Well he might not. He could work on his issues with us. Or he could just accept it and work on it. In that sense wouldn't it be better to tell him about it? I mean it's better than letting his mind eating away at him. I think we should tell him so we can support him." Diane explained slowly. King sighed looking down seeming to just think. He didn't know what to do. No one did. After all it was a tough decision.
"Okay what about you Sir Gowther? What do you think we should do?" Elizabeth asks softly. Gowther looked up from his drink. He took a swig before speaking.
"Doesn't matter to me. Either way no matter what we do it could always result in the something bad happening to the captain. I can think of 2 different scenarios where Meliodas kills one of us, 7 where he at least hurts someone, 18 where he some how died weather by his own hand or by accident and 28 where it ends well." Gowther explained. The room fell silent for a while after hearing that.
"Okay Gowther thank you for that...well odd piece of news..Ban what about you?" Diane asks.
"What about me?" Ban asked confused drinking a bit more of his ale.
"You calmed him down last time he had a break down. I mean you could calm him down again if it happens again."
"Diane, I caused his break down."
"I know but you helped keep him calm. So you'll have the deciding vote here since Merlin is in Camelot and Escanor is who the hell knows where. So what do you wanna do?"
