C2-The End
C2- The End
The last thing Terry thought he would see in the crowds of the zoo while he battled an angry mech man was a stringy crown of electric blue hair. He actually paused a moment from fighting to stare at the bobbing head to make sure he wasn't just imagining things. The boy turned and stared back, the two locking eyes for a brief moment amongst the chaos. He looked different without the domino mask, Terry thought, but the kid's glaring green eyed gaze was immediately recognizable.
Huh. What are the odds. Terry thought.
Another bellow from a the man inside the suit ripped Terry back into focus just in time to dodge a fatal blast of raw energy that shot from the suit's arm. He rolled out of the way before pushing himself up in a half hand spring to pull himself back to his feet. That was close. So close he actually felt some heat from the ray.
The scarred man laughed from inside the glass, his raspy voice grating on Terry's nerves like sandpaper. But, the Bat had to admit the dude knew how to equip, the robotic armor around his flesh was more than impressive. It might have even been close to Terry's own suit, though no where near as intelligent. It was bulky and heavy, hard to move around, yet also a lot harder to penetrate or even dent. It stood almost nine feet up, painted with orange and white to stick out against the dark Gotham atmosphere. It's right arm had a built in laser gun that took up most of its forearm, while its left had long robotic fingers that could smash rock with little damage. At the top there was a thin pane of thick glass where the criminal's face could be seen, a wicked man with a crooked ugly smile and jagged nose.
The man had no background that Terry knew of, no reason to be rampaging through the city, and by his words he didn't plan on saying his plan out loud. But he did seem to by a kick out of fighting with Batman, and Terry noted that the robot had tried to grab Terry multiple times with an odd blue scanner prepared. Luckily, Terry had escaped each time before getting snapped. Unluckily, Bruce still wasn't answering his communicator and Terry still wasn't sure how to take the colossal down.
What a lovely day at to spend a Saturday. Terry mentally grumbled, sneering at the laughing man.
Terry wasted no more time, ripping a batarang from his belt and sprinting underneath the robot's legs, swiftly sticking them into the metal as he leapt away. Two seconds later the mini explosion echoed through the air, flashing red light as it did as much damage to the robot as it could. But, as the dust cleared and the fire ceased Terry was only greeted with the sight of two completely intact legs and more laughter from the suited man.
"Ha!" He scoffed, "you really think your little toys can do anything?"
Growling, Terry whipped out his grappling hook, shooting it directly at the pane of glass. It stuck, creating a crack in front of the mans surprised face. The string tightened and suddenly dragged Terry off the ground and up on the amor's shoulders.
"I'll let you be a the judge of that." Terry spoke gruffly, glaring through the cut glass.
Scowling the man bellowed and attempted to shake the Bat off, Terry just smirked and began smashing the metal and wire between the shoulder and neck; a common weak point. The man caught on to Terry's strategy quickly, and geared into action. He stomped his massive metal foot and jutted forward, running strait at one of the animal enclosures. Thinking fast, Terry hurtled the giant shoulder and dug his claws into the armor's back. But this wasn't enough incentive for the scarred man to stop, and he crashed through the cement and glass regardless. He didn't stop there either, dashing through the habitat right at another wall. This time the left arm reached over and snapped at Terry, catching the Batman off guard and managing to lock onto his wrist and fling him into the wall.
The bitter flood of pain rushed over Terry, but more so the burning frustration of taking a blow. As the dust clouded the air, Terry prepared another attack, but was stopped when a ringing sung inside his ear.
Bruce, finally. Terry thought, and immediately answered the call with a click of the button on his left ear.
"Terry?" The voice of a woman sent a bolt of shock and panic down Terry's spine.
"M-Mom?!" He blurted.
"Terry! You finally picked up. You know, just because you're living in your own apartment and all that doesn't mean you can't answer a call from your mother."
Definitely his mother.
"Uh, mom this is...kinda a bad time-" The robot man didn't seem to notice Terry's new conversation, shouting and raising a mechanical fist to crush Batman.
Terry dived out of the way, barely missing the experience of getting smashed into a million pieces.
Terry's Mother went on, "Oh no, every time is a bad time for you. Talk to me here, we miss you, Terry!"
"Look, I miss you too but-" Another ray of hot laser, narrowly hitting him as he side hand sprig away. "This is a really, really bad time."
Terry got behind the massive Robot, using the habitat to his advantage. He pushed off a slanted fake rock, curving his body mid air to land a heavy and powerful two footed kick into the Robot's back. The Robot lurched forward, and the criminal inside groaned loudly.
"What are you doing what could possibly be that bad? And what was that noise?!" Mother demanded in Terry's ear, making him wince.
Unexpectedly, something alive leaped up and landed next to the Bat, and when he looked over Terry was surprised to see a monkey tilting its head and hanging off the back of the Robot with one arm.
He was in a zoo.
Ignoring his new friend, Terry activated a mini rocket in his elbow, giving the punch to the Robot's shoulder blades an extra boost.
"It's-uh- just the news!" Terry answered, punching again, this time knocking a little chunk of metal away.
It was just the chunk away he needed, the hole revealing a layer of tight wires.
Mother wasn't very pleased with Terry's rushed answer, "the news? So the news is more important than your mother now?"
Terry planted his hand into the wires, ripping them out of the hole with a hefty tug and a parade of sparks. "No, mom, of course not I just-" He tried to answer through the yelling of the Criminal who wasn't happy about the loss of power in his laser arm.
Unfortunately, Terry had disabled the wrong arm. The clawed left arm arched back and grabbed onto the back of Terry's suit, lifting him up and moving him to face the Criminal like a sad puppy.
"You just what, Terry?" Mother questioned on.
Before Terry could think to do anything, answer, escape or even take a breath the Robot arm hoisted him up and tossed him up in the air. And before he could kick in his boot's rockets the hand clamped around his ankle holding him upside down. The Criminal laughed manically as the tiny blue light pointed towards the Batman.
"Terry, for the love of- turn off the tv!"
Terry's eyes widened at the blue light, whatever it was preparing to do, it wasn't good. But the screeching of a certain curious monkey distracted him long enough to glance up and see the creature poking at Batman's captured foot. Thinking fast, he reached up and grabbed the squirming monkey with one hand.
"Sorry, monkey." He muttered right before flinging the tiny beast at the blinking blue light.
The monkey screamed and landed on top of the device, only now it was mad.
Unfortunately, so was Terry's mother, "Did you just call me monkey?!"
The monkey smacked the glass of the surprised criminal and barred its teeth letting another screech into the air. It dug its small hand in one of the grooves in the armor, clawing at the wiring inside. The hand crushing Terry's ankle loosened its grip just enough for him to squeeze out, and run along the arm to the glass.
"No mom, look I'm sorry, I'll call you back, okay?" Terry replied to his mother, raising a fist to punch the glass again.
"No, not o-"
"Thanks, love you mom!" In one swift motion Terry flicked the button to hang up and pounded on the glass. "Oh, I am so dead..."
The scarred criminal hollered some muffled curse and glowered at Batman, but his hatred lasted only a few seconds because on his second well placed punch Terry busted through the glass and hit the man square in the face. The Robot jolted, then teetered backwards until it crashed onto its back with The Batman standing tall on top of it.
The monkey showed its fangs again at Terry before jumping off the lifeless pile of metal. The criminal was out cold, and Terry almost wished he could have that same bliss. He sighed and jumped off the Robots chest.
Ring! Ring!
Terry hesitated at the ringing in his ear-com, he wasn't sure if he could talk to his mother at that moment. But when it kept buzzing he gave in and clicked the answer button.
He was relieved to hear Bruce's deep voice, "Terry! What's going on that you had to call me fifteen times?"
It took all of his inner strength for Terry not to roll his eyes, "Well, your a little late now. Let's just say I got some company at the Zoo."
"Someone we know?"
Terry glanced over his shoulder at the unconscious and nameless man in the suit. "No. And that's the weird thing, he didn't seem to have any reason for attacking. No stealing, no revenge story...just a lot of violence and laughter."
"Laughter?" Bruce repeated.
"Yeah. But he's nothing like Drake." Terry approached the Robot to examine it further. "Oh, and he also kept trying to scan me with this little blue light."
"Let me see." Commanded Bruce.
Leaning down, Terry snatched off the dangling gadget and snapped a photo of it with the cameras in his suit eyes. The photo send immediately to Bruce's computer in the Batcave.
"Alright, good work." Bruce went on, "The cops should be there soon. I'll call Barba, I want you to help get answers from this guy. In the meantime, start picking up the mess you made."
"Mess I made?" Terry scoffed, "You think I ask for crazy mega powered dudes to rampage the city? I just enjoy getting thrown through walls and shot at with laser guns?"
"It's possible." The smirk Bruce sported could be heard even through the scratchy ear pieces. "Just get on it."
With that, Bruce hung up.
Sighing, Terry turned to the rubble around him. Through the hole in the habitat he stood in a powerful, brightly striped orange tiger stalked in. It casually glanced around, making its way inside.
His mother was definitely upset at him. The criminal at his feet made Bruce suspicious. And now there was a tiger.
"Being Batman is the best..." He mumbled under his breath.
