Chapter Twenty-Three

"Okay so I'm thinking like a soft creme color - Ben !" Rey said .

He looked up from the paint swatches in hand "huh?"

"You're nose is bleeding!" She said and ran to grab a towel to stop his blood from getting all over the couch and him.

"Keep your head back" she said as he held the tissue to his nose .

"I used to get these all the time when I was a kid" Ben said as his head stayed back.

"You've been sick lately -"

"What do you mean ? I haven't " he said .

"You've been sleeping and coughing and you've been dizzy and you're nose is bleeding ... Ben... I had think you should see the doctor"

"Rey I'm fine" he said shaking it off.

"Ben Solo you are going to see a doctor don't make me force you !" Rey glared at him.

"This isn't want I wanted to see Ben" his doctor said reading a chart .

"Look what is it ?" Ben asked.

"We wanna test you... there's a high chance that the cancer may be back" he said.

"But you said that I was cancer free !" Ben responded.

"There's always a .01 percent chance ... the last time you came in you where 13. You're 17 now Ben it's been four years"

"Look my life is great now and my wife forced me to come in fine -"

"You're married ?" The doctor said.

"Yeah... I got a girl pregnant and we're married" Ben said.

"You got a girl pregnant ? We said it would be impossible for you conceive ... "

"Never say never" Ben laughed.

"Which means very well that you could have your cancer back ... we'd like to admit you to a treatment center ... that way we could test you, it's very unlikely but we'd like to "

"When ?" Ben asked .

"This afternoon-"

"I can't ! My wife is having an ultrasound ! Look I understand and all but ... this is my kid and I haven't missed an ultrasound yet-"

"Ben listen to me" the doctor said "let us test you know so we know it isn't something serious ... and if it is then we can take care of it before your child is born so you can be there for them !"

"Okay... I just need to make a call" he said .

"Don't tell Rey ... I don't care Mom she can't know ! She has enough stress already as it is and this could be the edge ... I'll be home tomorrow"

"Tell her it got late and I'll be home tomorrow I'm fine"

Ben was laying in a hospital bed and had his eyes closed "okay... Ben we're gonna take you under ... just to see ... when you wake up we should have some tests done"

"Uh-huh" and he fell into a deep dark sleep.
