The morning of my escape finally arrived, and I woke up with a sense of determination and relief. After a final breakfast with everyone, I packed up my car with a few essentials, gave Jake and the others heartfelt goodbyes, and hit the road. My plan was to drive out of the city and spend the weekend in a quiet cabin I had booked in the mountains. The solitude was exactly what I needed.

I turned up the volume on my car stereo, letting the upbeat tunes fill the space as I drove. The cityscape quickly gave way to rolling hills and open fields, and I felt the tension in my shoulders ease with every mile. The road stretched out before me, and the hum of the engine was oddly soothing. I sang along to my favorite songs, feeling a little lighter with each chorus.

Everything felt right, like I was finally on my way to reclaiming my peace. The music was perfect, the weather was clear, and the scenery was picturesque. I allowed myself to enjoy the simple pleasure of being alone, away from the noise and expectations that had been crowding my life.

But then, without warning, everything changed.

I was lost in a particularly uplifting song when I noticed a car in the distance, heading straight toward me. At first, it seemed like a mirage, but as it came closer, my heart started racing. The car was moving erratically, swerving across the road. I tried to maneuver to avoid it, but it was as if time had slowed down. The oncoming vehicle was heading straight for me.

In a split second, the reality of the situation crashed into me. There was no way to escape. I braced myself, gripping the steering wheel tightly, but the impact came faster than I could process. The world spun violently as metal crumpled and glass shattered.

I heard the deafening sound of the collision, felt a sharp, searing pain, and then—darkness.

The last thing I remember was the cacophony of screeching tires and blaring horns, followed by a profound, overwhelming sense of emptiness. My vision blurred, and consciousness slipped away like sand through my fingers.

Everything went black.
