Trials and Executions
"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. You have distort viking tradition that has not been ruined for seven generation . You are charged for holding a dragon in the Island of Berk and to this it is a treason. The chief and councils has decided your fate."
This is really happening isn't it?
Hiccup thought, he was standing in the middle of the dragon arena before his father and the councils, hands tied behind his back. Gobber, who was supposed to be on Stoick's side, could never be seen around. Instead, he saw Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut and Snotlout a few feet away from Stoick. He wondered where could have the young blonde tough viking lass had gone to.
Behind him was Toothless being tamed roughly by four huge vikings. They had wrapped his mouth with thick ropes and his wings were chained. Toothless was using all his strength to get free from the vikings' hold but could not simply work it out. Hiccup stared at him.
He's afraid, afraid being tied, afraid being captured, afraid to die and afraid to loose me too.
Toothless starred back at Hiccup, he could say his companion was saying something like "I'm sorry bud" It had been a few short weeks since they have first met. True he was afraid to die but he was more afraid to loose his companion who made him a new tail. It had come to the dragon that not all humans have no soul to a dragon like him and Hiccup had proven that back at the cove, where they first bonded.
Hiccup sighed and faced the chief, today would be the day he won't consider himself a viking.
"We have marked you as traitor young Hiccup and we decided that we should banish you from this island."
Bash announced inside the arena, Hiccup gave out a heavy sigh. He knew Bash never wanted Hiccup ever in his life, along with Scar, Aren and Rosh. The four of them had been in the council for ten years ever since Stoick needed help governing the whole village.
Originally the four aren't Berk citizens. Ten years ago they were nomads searching for a place to stay. Once they have found Berk, Stoick happily took them in until they formed a good system to handle the village towards dragon problems. Stoick brought them in and made them Officials of Berk under Chief Stoick
"However, the chief and the rest of us has also thought of a compensation of your 'dragon problems' to clear your name as guilty-"
Hiccup was pushed back to reality when Bash had said that there is another way to clear his name, but it seems that it isn't a good idea. Bash slowly walked closer to Hiccup.
"-lucky you for being the chief's son" Bash mumbled loud enough for Hiccup to hear. "If were I would just follow and STAY OUT of trouble, you're father could have been more proud of you" He gave Hiccup a sly glare before continuing announcing his trials to all Berk.
"To clear your name, you must slay the dragon behind you and do repairing of buildings around Berk. Your trial will end as when we are all fully satisfied with your work. You are to work alone, no close contact with the Berkians, sleep at the far edge of the island. This will prove and show that you are truly among us."
Everybody roared as Bash finished. Hiccup was assigned to slay Toothless and be a slave at his very own home.
Home.....
Is Berk really his home? This people who judge him very much? The people who wanted him out of Berk? And this people, this...this VIKINGS who hated him so much because he's not a viking material.
And maybe that's what they want me to be.
"Show no mercy!!"
"Slay that monster!"
"Kill the beast!"
Everyone shouted around him as he looked above. He looked at every viking who wants the dragon dead before his hands. Including the teens, except for Fishlegs though who looked rat rather sad of what's happening right now.
Little did he know that the blonde viking he was searching for was at the entrance of the arena, gates close in front of her, watching him from his back. Astrid came out from her axe-throwing-cool-off minutes before the sun started to set. She was planning not to attend his trial but a part of her just wanted to check if the auburn boy had given up to kill the dragon.
Yes she knew the people too well, a captured dragon could not surpass Berk villagers. It has always been that way, but she had never seen a Berkian been awarded to be banished from the tribe. Not that if you are the chief's son.
Stoick was sitting on his chair while he looked at his son. He could see from the looks fro Hiccup that he didn't like the agreement that they had planned earlier for him. Stoick wanted his son to be not a traitor, but look at him now he's acting like one.
He should have seen this coming indeed, his suspicions, he did not believe them until now. The only blood and body that he could pass his power and chiefdom has never been the model he always want him to be.
After all he is Stoick tha Vast, a mighty viking, Chief of Berk, dragon slayer........And his son, his own blood and flesh is traitor to him.
"HICCUP YOUR ARE TO KILL THAT DRAGON BEFORE MY EYES!"
Hiccup's head shot up to his father. So as did Astrid and the the rest of the crowd. He showed no concern on his father's eyes which made him angrier with his antics.
"You have done nothing good on this island y. Don't you understand that WE CANT BE WITH THIS PUTRID ANIMALS. You and your ideas are USELESS"
Those last words hit him so hard that it ignited him to talk back at him.
"I know you're disappointed at me and I've caused YOU a lot of trouble. But let me tell you....CHIEF-"
Both Hiccup and Stoick were shocked as the word CHIEF was said a cold and heavy. Hiccup did not mind at all in the end.
"You want to throw me into trial of something I have done marking me as a traitor. But I have done something that none has ever done before."
Stoick was taken back, Hiccup had gained confidence from a dragon he is willing to save. He won't allow it though. He stood up and grabbed a dagger that had come from the guards. The guards said it came from the dragon's saddle. He recognized the dagger was the one he gave to Hiccup before. He jumped into the arena to give the dagger to Hiccup hoping this would end the dilemma.
As he closed in to his son he reached the dagger to him. "End it"
Hiccup knew they were both stubborn, but his father had no space in his head to understand and listen.
"No" was all he replied.
Stoick's blood boiled the minute he refused. He shoved him away merely next to Toothless then shouted. "Could anyone kill this dragon before him!"
Everyone cheered
"Traitor!"
"Let us show him Stoick!"
Astrid, by the way, wasn't among the people who were cheering. She stood before the arena gates worriedly watching Hiccup being shoved off by his father. She didn't wish this to happen on him, he's been treated like an outcast. Warmth of guilt had came to her again.
Gobber had finally shown up behind Stoick's chair wherr he had come from. He too wasn't among the people who called his apprentice a traitor. Gobber treated Hiccup as his son too, he didn't want to see him being downgraded like this especially by his own father.
He sighed wishing that he should have convinced his bestfriend to reconsider his decisions. Stoick was influenced by Bash and his men and the rest of the council. He had nothing to do to save his young apprentice.
Stoick was looking for the right viking to show Hiccup what it is like to be a viking. He wanted to chose the people who are in his age. He saw Snotlout cheering madly so he chose him to kill the dragon.
"Snotlout come down here and kill the dragon. Show to us the viking spirit"
"Go on son make me proud!" Hiccup heard Spitelout as his buffed cousin jumped in to the arena. He wished his father could be proud for just once.
Stoick handed the dagger to his nephew but refused because he was already carrying a sword with him. "Don't worry chief this won't take long. He then gave a smirk at Hiccup "I'll make sure he's dead before your eyes, good thing YOU sharpened my sword real good"
Slowly he moved towards Toothless, Hiccup wished he left his cousin's sword in a dull state, why oh why did he have to sharpen his sword earlier. Hiccup needed to formulate a plan fast before his brute cousin reaches Toothless. He checked on Toothless, his mouth was tied by ropes, wings chained and held by guards. If only they had not taken his dagger that were now at Stoick's hands. He studied carefully for possible solutions, he checked again. One of the guards holding Toothless has a fake leg and the other was a bit skimpy, the rest were fine but two can't handle a dragon like the Night Furt.
After a few looks around him, a plan has finally come to Hiccup.
