-rupture
-one: love me
I stared out into the cold, my hands shivering as I looked at the empty umbrella racks. Someone took mine. I sighed. I elevated my palm to test the tumbling rain's forte. It is not that dreading, maybe a dash would not be so bad. After inhaling for courage, I readied myself to dart when someone seized my rucksack's handle attached at the top. I glared mercilessly into whoever it is that halted my bravery from coursing.
"I am not one to mess with, you brat." I spat at the seemingly smaller boy who still gripped onto the lever.
"only wanted to help, Mr grumpypants." He answered as he offered a brolly.
My eyes lingered on the ground-hued parasol as my hand reached for it only for it to be distanced by that brat. "did you not say you wanted to help?"
"well, I did. But since you acted pretty cruelly, I might take back the proposal." He pouted as he accented on each term.
I smiled before turning my back to him, preparing for a run.
"jez, you really want to catch a cold?" he asked as I merely neglected him. I despise it when someone teases me.
I took a deep breath in, before seeping into the hammering rain.
"wait!" the same irritating voice shouted as I simply gushed faster.
Why is today so lengthy- ah I know. It is due to that shorty's appearance at the end of an elongated study session.
Attaining my bus shop, I shielded myself from further drainage by slipping under the shade of the block.
"-h-hey." A panting boy sounded, as I eyed him, doubting his mentality.
He straightened his posture afore handing me it, "take it. You might need it."
I rolled my eyes, "not anymore."
"you never know." He worded, "just give me back it tomorrow or something."
I shook my head at him, "you take it. I don't like owing people."
"don't worry, I hate being payable." He uttered as he shoved his procession to my chest as he vanished into the heavying rain.
"hold up!" I screamed as I clung onto his property, "name and form!"
He paused as he gazed back at me with a slightly ingenuous smile. His orange hair soaking more in the outpour. "Jimin! Park Jimin! M!"
I smiled a jiffy at his childishness. "thanks! Get home safely, brat!"
And with that call, his frame grew smaller into afar.
-
He was correct, I ended up using the bare-tinted umbrella. In fact- it helped me very much. My house's nearest stop was closed so I had to walk back from the woods. I wonder if he is alright, if he managed to get home quicker than I did.
"I'm home."
"welcome home, Taehyung sweetheart." My mother's tone resonated in the house.
I paced into the bathroom, hastily placing the umbrella into the bathtub to prevent the creation of a slippery floor.
"how was school?"
"it was okay."
"come in and eat, sweetheart."
-
It was dawn by the time I awoken, the sun appeared additionally auburn today, reminding me of the umbrella and the brat. I drifted to the lavatory for a quick freshening up before grabbing the breakfast I made yesterday from the kitchen and chewed on it as I packed my lunch.
Checking one last time to see if I have forgotten anything, I left the house, locking it as I headed for the bus stop. The ride was longer than usual- at least it was, in my perspective. The music playing beside my ears eased me as I leaned my head against the window of the bus. Perhaps, I am looking forward to seeing him again. A small smile tugged at my lips.
-
Guilt rushed through me as the words were spoken, "he has a frightful fever. So, he is not in. I think he is at the hospital from pneumonia."
Bowing in courtesy, I speeded through the hallway. It is my fault, is it not? What should I do? What can I do? Finding peace in the library, I hid myself from the world.
Maybe I should never interact with people. Every solitary time, when I do, something bad happens. I promised to never weep again, but this is difficult. Yoongi hyung, what should I do? I buried my head into the knees.
-
"don't worry, tae." He whispered as he ran his cold hand on my cheek, wiping away the waterworks formed.
"b-b-but..."
"hyung will be okay..." he said, "it's just a scratch, as long as you are okay, hyung will be okay..."
"h-hyung..."
"I am very sorry for your loss, we tried our very best."
-
I sniffled.
I picked myself up from the carpeted ground afore dragging myself up to the next class as the bell rang.
"taehyung, would you mind giving this copy of worksheets to Jimin?" a tutor asked me.
I nodded, why did they ask someone not even close to him to give it to him.
"thank god." She released a huff, "the others thought they would be infected if they went to drop this at Seoul hospital."
I nodded in understanding. That answered my question.
I never knew, but I am in the same class as Jimin in most subjects.
-
I was in front of his hospice room access, but something was repelling me from turning the knob- ah perchance it is the culpability. Swirling from the door, I planned to ask the nurse to transfer it when I was met face to face with him.
"well, what a pleasant surprise?" he phrased as he coughed, leaning onto his bed.
My head sunk, "I-I'm sorry."
I could not perceive his façade but from his tenor, he seemed concern, "hey, are you okay?"
I nodded, tears threatening to spill. I kept my head low.
He chuckled, "it's funny, my 'close' friends did not bother visiting me ever since they knew about my conditions. It was as if I had lost everything over the span of a day- actually maybe less."
This made me drown rumbling into a bottomless ocean of blame. "s-sorr-"
"listen..."
"Taehyung." I told him. "Kim Taehyung."
"listen here, tae." He said, sorrow laced in his voice, "it is not your fault. Don't think it is."
He coughed as I approached him, but I was stopped by his stretching arm. "I have a frailer immune system and to be honest with you, Tae. I am thankful, thankful for you, a person that I barely know, risking your life to come visit me, though not willingly. That is enough."
My eyes gave in, the salted water leaked.
"that is enough, knowing that you would come..." Jimin finished, his voice wavering.
"plus, it was my stupidity that led to me being bedded yet again."
I shook my head, "that's not true. You are truly the kindest person that I know, gambling your health for someone like me..."
Jimin laughed half-heartedly, "what do you mean, 'someone like you.' you are the sweetest human being ever."
-
It was mayhaps a few months later, but our bond grew so much firmer, with me being a constant visitor and Jimin getting stronger and stronger each time. Every time we meet up, it just ends up like a euphoria, whether or not a word was exchanged.
Today was Christmas eve and Jimin was at last permitted outside. So, I brought him to the bulky mistletoe by the woods, which was ornamented by fairy lights then. I got him to be seated on the snow with his eyes concealed by my hands.
"three. Two. One. And you may open your eyes." I announced as I removed my palms from his eyes.
He smiled upon seeing the beautiful sight of the Christmas tree. That was enough to make me beam with joy as my effort embellishing it did not go to waste.
"you did this?" he asked, looking at me with wonders in his orbs. It was as if the whole galaxy was in those brown eyes of his.
I hummed, as t turned my gaze to my successfully beautified tree.
"thank you, tae." He said.
Although I did not want to cry, a tear dripped down my cheek. I made him elated, I did that. For once I did not ruin anything at all.
-
"jez, tae." He moaned at we looked at the tumbled Christmas tree.
"s-sorry, hyung."
"accepted." He said as he embraced me.
"sorry, tae. I-I have to go."
"what did I do wrong?"
"it's not you. I promise. I just found someone better than you."
-
Perhaps noticing my melancholy, he pulled me against his chest as his breath warmed my neck.
"p-please don't leave me." I whimpered, I messed it up, I promised to not decay anything and yet I did. I devastated this wondrous night.
"never." Jimin assured me, "nothing will ever make me leave you, angel."
I felt him lightly blessing my hair with a smooch.
-
It was my birthday.
My mother was at work that day. So, I cuddled myself with blankets stolen from all over the house, until my doorbell chimed.
Hauling myself to open the door, it revealed Jimin.
I smiled, "what's up?"
"the heck do you mean 'what's up?' it's Mr grumpypant's birthday!" he questioned, glaring at me as if I was not sane.
"so?"
At this point, Jimin was a freeman again. no need to stay in the hospice twenty four-seven.
"it's important!"
He forced his way through my house before he set up all the festive looking things.
I heaved a breath, this will be chaos to clean afterwards.
-
"happy birthday to taehyung~" he sang.
"happy birthday to you~"
I smiled a tad, "alright, alright brat. That's the end of this mayhem."
I was about to begin cleaning the confetti scattered around me when he pulled me to his laps. "what do you-"
Without any warning, he kissed my neck, causing a hundred of cells exploding in me. I pushed his head away. "Jim-"
This time, his lips found its way to mine. His citrus scent intoxicating me as I began responding to him.
A door creaked open.
And we stopped.
-
"so, you two are friends?" my mother asked.
We nodded.
"then why the kiss?" she queried.
"it was his birthday, so I kissed him." Jimin replied.
"it's fine if you like each other, tae sweetheart." She began her speech as she ruffled my hair, "you can get together as well as long as he treats you right."
-
Since that incidence, we pretended nothing has happened although we know it did.
It was a wintry January morning when we bumped into each other on the streets on a sunday, reminding me that time when I planned his birthday surprise last October.
"so, how are you?" Jimin asked.
"fairly well, what about you?"
"good." He said, "you know that time."
I tilted my head, "which one?"
"when w-we kissed."
I nodded, "yeah."
"I meant it." He said. "I meant what I did, I like you, Taehyung."
I was not shaken, but kind of contented?
"I will give you some time..." he rushed off into the snow after saying that.
-
It had been a while since his confession and I planned to give him an answer tonight.
"Jimin, I love you. I love you too."
He smiled ever so happily.
"but promise me a thing."
"sure." He responded.
"it is not easy, so don't agree to it without even knowing what I want."
His expression turned serious, cueing for me to say it.
"please don't break my heart like the others." I said it. I released the breath that I was holding.
He lifted his pinky.
"pinky promise." He said with his usual lovable smile.
I smiled, gladly accepting it.
-
The end.
