Chapter Nine ➳
Bill's was transferred into his mindscape, whether or not he wanted to be there. Mabel had forced him to enter there. It was his own fault for closing his eyes for so long and communicating with her. Will was probably panicking at the moment, crying out his brother's name.
Bill prayed that he didn't go and fetch Grunkle Stan.
The blonde was still in the kitchen, just devoid of color. It was completely empty, besides Mabel standing behind him, bright pink and still bearing her red devil's tail.
"Hey, BT!" she exclaimed, hopping over the kitchen table. "Thanks for joining me!"
Bill crossed his arms. "I didn't have much of a choice," he spat sourly.
Mabel pouted, her white eyes emotionless. "What a pity. At least it's only me here. Imagine what Dipper and I could do together."
Bill lowered his gaze from her pupil-less ones.
"Oh, and just so you know," the she-demon started, "Will is freaking out right now."
Bill growled, stomping his foot down on the kitchen floor. "Just perfect."
Mabel giggled, floating up into the air, her hair hovering around her. "I know right!"
The boy scoffed, exasperated. "Ok, get on with it. What do you want to know?"
She smiled a toothy grin, eyes flashing. "Tell me what Dipper does to make you uncomfortable."
Embarrassment settled over the blonde. "W-well- wait, why do you want to know?"
Mabel let out a huff of laughter. "I have trouble making people 'uncomfortable'. I tend to have a more friendly appeal. Tell me!"
"He's just a touchy person, like Will. And, it's simple, I'm not."
Understanding lit up in the demon's eyes. "Oh... Like this?"
Suddenly, Bill was pressed up against the wall by her, no way for him to escape for her body was a wall.
Bill knew he had to answer earnestly or she'd shred him. "Y-yes," he swallowed nervously.
"Hmm," she hummed, drawing back quicker than Bill expected. "That's most definitely strange. I guess that's Dipper for you." Mabel tapped her chin, giving Bill time to breath. "Has he ever crawled on you?"
Bill's ears were hot as heck. "Yes," he managed to get out without stuttering.
Mabel huffed. "Figures."
"Can I go back now since question time is over?" Bill asked angrily.
"One more question," she hissed, flicking her tail. "How long do you think you can hold us off? Because, after a while, I'll start taking a more Dipper-like approach on you. Dipper is all about, blood, no mercy, seduction and possession." She giggled a little. "He's certainly the scariest demon I know, and the most clever."
Is she trying to scare me? Bill thought, horrified.
"Well, I wouldn't say that..." she murmured, reading Bill's thoughts.
The blonde averted his gaze. "I—"
"What's your answer?" the Dream Demon persisted.
"I...I don't know," he muttered.
Mabel sneered. "Yes you do... You think you're not going to last long, right? That's believable. You'll probably give into Dipper before you'll give into me. You will see. It's obvious."
Bill balled his fists. "I'm not helping any of you! I'm not bringing either of you into reality! You'll just destroy it! I know you will!"
Mabel made a face. "I guess you throughly read the rest of the summoning page in the journal, by the sound of it."
Bill had a momentary staring contest with her, before the boy nodded. "Yes, I did."
"You'll need more than that to be assured and know everything about us," Mabel sighed. "I swear, you humans are so stupid sometimes."
Bill decided to not be offended by that comment. "Well, sorry to disappoint you, but I'm never giving in."
Mabel rolled her eyes and grabbed her tail. "Yes you will, silly. You have to eventually." The tone in her voice seriously unnerved the blonde. "Bill, you can't keep passing out into the Mind Scape forever... You're sleeping more and more as time drags on. After time, you'll be stuck in the Mind Scape for eternity. You're family will think your dead - not to mention all the panic you'll cause inbetween events - and they'll probably bury you alive. They'll be heartbroken and you'll live a life of eternal torture."
Bill's blood had run cold, it being ice in his veins. "Th-that's not true," he stuttered, mortified.
"How do you know?" she whispered.
Bill took deep breaths, ignoring the tempting panic that he wanted to fall into. "I-I just do, ok?"
Mabel laughed. "You doubt even your own words. Pathetic. Now that I've scared the crap out of you, I might as well let you go. And remember, what I said it true. Why would any human keep a 'corpse' above ground. Six feet below is much more suitable for someone trapped in the Mind Scape for the rest of their lives." the she-demon giggled and snapped her fingers, waking Bill up.
The blonde's eyes flung open and he felt the cold, wood floor beneath him.
"—and h-he just passed out f-for no reason!" Will was saying in a panicky tone.
Bill managed to get feeling in his hands and hefted himself off the ground.
"Bill?!" his brother exclaimed in shock.
He groaned, rubbing his head and looked up at Will and found Grunkle Stan standing not far behind the blue-haired boy. "I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to fall asleep like that," Bill said unsteadily.
"Y-you need to be taken t-to a hospital or-or something," Will suggested immediately.
"No!" Bill stopped his brother quickly. "I've just been tired lately, you know that."
Will's blue eyes were filled to the brim with absolute worry. "I-I'm worried about you, th-though. If-if you are in trouble or-or got hurt, I'd-"
"You'd what?" Bill spat, rubbing his eyes. "I'm the one who protects you, Will. Stop this heroic act. I'm fine."
The twin flinched back, hurt. Will loved his brother more than the blonde would ever know because Bill was too busy being so blind. "But-"
"But nothing," Bill interrupted Will once again. "We're supposed to hang out later today, Will. Don't blow it by arguing with me."
Grunkle Stan crossed his arm. "Bill, if you aren't feeling well then just say so. If you end up dying on my watch your parents would probably sue me."
The blonde scoffed. "I'm not going to die. I'm just sleep deprived, that's all. Forget about it."
Will didn't believe a single word his brother said. "F-fine. I'm not h-hungry anymore." He stood up from the table huffily and stomped up to his room.
"You should really be kinder to your brother, you'll never know when you might loose him..." Stan said almost remorsefully.
Bill watched as his great uncle left him and the blonde sat on the ground with his legs sprawled out as if he were seven again. "Whatever," he muttered in an irritated manor. He got to his feet and stormed up to the attic, not having any idea of what he was going to say to Will. He threw open the door, ignoring his brother on his bed.
"Will?" the blonde asked quietly.
"What?" his tone was sour and angry.
Bill sighed. "How...how long was I out for?"
"H-half an hour," Will muttered.
Bill's heart jumped in shock. That long? Does time flow differently in the Mind Scape or something? The blonde's hand traveled to the journal in his sweater pocket curiously. He hadn't really studied the book in a while. Maybe there were answers somewhere else inside it. But he couldn't tell Will about it. The twin felt that would only endanger his brother.
"Oh," he finally managed to say, guilt gnawing at his insides. If only Will knew what was really going on. If only he knew that two ferocious demons were terrorizing him and threatening to murder him and destroy the world. If only...
"A-are you sick?" Will asked meekly.
"No." Bill sighed hotly. "I'm not."
The twin averted his eyes, crossing his arms in the process. "Sure."
"Would you stop doubting me already?!" Bill exploded, stomping his foot down, making Will flinch away in shock.
"N-no..." the blue-haired boy said stubbornly. "I want t-to know what's g-going on with you."
The blonde rolled his eyes. "God, since when did you care? I watch out for you, not the other way around."
Will furrowed his eyebrows. "Wh-why can't I watch ou-out for you?"
"Because I can take care of myself, unlike you," Bill responded rather harshly.
The shy twin's face went white. "Y-you think that I-I can't..." his voice trailed off.
Bill felt a twinge of regret twist inside of him, but he shoved it away. He had said it and it's not like he could retract his answer.
"I...I don't think w-we should hang out l-later," Will whispered.
Bill swallowed, holding his arm. Dammit. He had hurt Will. "I'm...sorry..." he murmured. "Just, pretend I didn't say that."
Will raised his blue gaze up to his twin's golden one. "No, I c-can't. Because you d-did say it. Bill, I f-feel like you h-hate me!"
He stepped backwards, away from his brother. "I don't hate you."
"But I a-annoy you, d-don't I?" Will's tone held a foreign anger to it.
"Well," Bill guiltily scrunched up, glancing away since he wasn't used to his twin having such an authoritive voice, "sometimes..."
Will hung his head. "J-just leave me alone. I c-can take care of myself, th-thank you very much."
Bill bit his tongue lightly. "Will, come on, bro. Don't get mad or anything."
His brother turned away so his back was facing Bill.
Bill knew he was going to have to shove away his usual act and put on a softer one for Will's sake. He put on a playful smile and stalked up to the blue-haired boy. "Come on...don't make me force you," he chuckled, but Will didn't turn around.
He only squared his shoulders.
"Come on," he said a little louder and lunged forward, wrapping his arms around Will's waist.
Will went rigged, blush dusting his cheeks. "Th-that's not going to work, B—" he broke off when Bill flipped around his brother and forcibly pinned him down. Will glared at his brother, embarrassed and nervous as usual. "I-I'm not kidding!"
Bill forced himself to not cringe at being so touchy, but he did this because he couldn't stand to see Will so depressed. "I know you're not kidding," he laughed and poked his brother's sides.
Will squirmed around. Will knew that Bill knew he was ticklish practically everywhere. "Bill, I-I swear—" Will snapped off into a fit of laughter when Bill began to tickle his sides. "N-NO! PL-PLEASE! ST- HAHAHA!"
Bill laughed as he watched Will curl up, cackling his head off, and feebly trying to slap his twin away. "This is what you get for not listening!" Bill declared and chuckled.
"I C-CAN'T BREATH!" Will screamed, heaving in short breaths of air.
Bill finally receded the tickling and sat back on Will's legs, smiling widely.
The shy twin stared up at the roof for a bit, catching his breath before he sighed, looking down at his brother. "Y-you suck," he muttered, but a smile climbed onto his face.
"Aw, don't be so rude," Bill joked and Will smiled sheepishly.
"I-I'm telling the tr-truth," he stammered jokingly and motioned for Bill to get off him, but the blonde payed no mind.
"See? Do you forgive me?" Bill asked, pouting his lip.
Will glanced downwards and pursed his lips. "S-sure."
"Good." Bill nodded stiffly, leaning over and booping his brother's nose.
Will suddenly sat up, wrapping his arms around Bill's neck, causing Bill's arms to give out and fall on top of the shy twin.
"Whoa, hey, you know I don't appreciate hugs, Will," Bill said unsteadily.
"I d-don't care," Will murmured, pressing into Bill.
"Yeah, kay, I'm done..." Bill said uncomfortably.
Will blushed and unhooked his arms and dropped back. "S-sorry. Not everyday y-you're nice to me."
"Hey," Bill retorted, "I'm nice enough."
Will played it off nervously. "Sure, wh-whatever."
Bill crawled off his twin and dropped onto the floor, straightening out his sweater. "So, about that hang out?"
Will smiled.
