Chapter Three
Adam's POV
"And here's the last of the letters." The recruit set the box down next to my desk. "Do you need anything else?"
I smiled at the girl. "No, I think I can handle these. Thanks again Eve."
She smiled back at me. "You're welcome. Just call me or William if you need some help."
The recruit moved towards the door as my eyes landed on a certain navy letter. "Actually, can you grab a few people for me? I need to discuss something with the generals."
Eve stopped with a hand on the door. "Of course Commander. Who do you want?" she asked as she turned around.
"I need Mitch, Jerome, Quentin, Ian, and TrueMU. Ty left a while ago with his patrol, so I'll talk to him later."
The girl nodded. "Got it. I'll have William help me find them." She left the room as I stood up.
I walked over to the bookshelves and pushed aside a few books to reveal 5 books. "I still don't know why you entrusted these with me." I murmured. "But I'll do everything I can to protect these." I looked at the calendar next to the door. "You only have one more week Father. Only one week to find me." I chuckled. "Best game of Hide-and-Seek ever."
"Get back here Mitch!" And there's Merome. That was fast. I didn't expect for Eve to find the others so quickly. I carefully hid the 5 books in the bookshelf as the door to my office opened.
Mitch ran into the room with Jerome at his heels. "Adam, help me!" Mitch yelled, laughing. I noticed the diamond axe in Mitch's hand as he fended off Jerome.
I smirked. "Nah, I think you can handle him." Jerome managed to pin Mitch to the ground and took his axe back from Mitch, who was still laughing. The duo stood up as the other generals walked into the room.
"Did Mitch take Betty again?" Ian asked, noticing the axe in Jerome's paws.
"Maybe..." Mitch said. "So, Adam, what did you need?"
Everyone turned to look at me. "The squids sent another letter."
They all groaned. "So when is the next battle?" TrueMU asked.
I grinned. "Actually, it's a letter of temporary peace." That got everyone's attention. "Apparently, next month is when the 'Meeting' takes place. Whatever that is."
TrueMU's eyes lit up. "Ooh, I know what that is!" We all looked at him. "The Meeting is something that supposedly takes place every thousand years. The gods of Minecraftia all come together for a meeting that lasts for 24 hours."
Quentin looked confused. "But how does that have to do with a peace letter from the squids?"
TrueMU grinned. "It's supposed to be a time of peace. All wars are supposed to stop during this meeting. I think they wanted the meeting to be a neutral zone if they ever fought against each other."
How did he know all that? I don't think we wrote any of this down, everyone just memorized the rules. Unless... if he is who I think he may be... "Hey TrueMU, how do you know all that?"
He looked at me. "I've always been interested in stuff about the gods. I found a book a couple years ago in a village about Minecraftian history, and it mentioned the Meeting. I wanted to learn more about it, so I spent a few months researching as much as I could about the Meeting."
"You actually read a book? I didn't think you knew how to read," I teased. Everyone laughed, including TrueMU. His answer seemed genuine, so I guess he wasn't Jason. If TrueMU was Jason, I would be screwed.
"So what do you want us to do Sky?" TrueMU asked.
I flinched. Did he really have to call me that? I was trying to stay hidden for Notch's sake! "Can you not call me that? I would rather be called Adam, that's my real name."
He nodded. "Sorry Adam. I just wanted to see what you would do if I called you that." He snickered. "What if you were actually Sky, the founder of the Sky Army? That would be pretty cool."
I smiled, even though on the inside I was freaking out. "Yeah, that would be pretty cool."
"So, what do you want us to do about the letter?" Jerome asked. Whoops, I guess I got a little distracted.
"I need you guys to give a message to the squids." I grabbed a letter from my desk. "I'd rather not send a group of recruits, just in case it's a trick. I trust you all to give them a letter and get back safely. After all you have Merome with you." I chuckled. "Are you guys up for it?"
Mitch and Jerome nodded eagerly. "I would love to see the looks on their faces when we show up," Mitch said.
"The hospital has been pretty empty lately, so the others can take care of it while I'm gone. I'm in," Quentin said.
"I don't see any reason why I can't go. I haven't gone outside the base in a while, so I'm definitely going." TrueMU said.
I turned to Ian, who had a doubtful look on his face. "Is something wrong Ian?"
He looked at me. "What about Derp? Will he be okay at the base without me?" I forgot about him!
Derp Ssundee is Ian's twin brother. Honestly, he kinda scares me.The squids captured Derp a few years ago, when they still did their experiments. They did something to him to make him insane, and Derp won't tell us what happened. He needs to be under constant watch at the base's hospital. Ian visits his twin almost every day, it's obvious he cares about Derp.
"Derp is fine Ian. The workers at the hospital know exactly what to do if he does something crazy." Quentin reassured. Thank Notch for good friends.
Ian relaxed. "Then I'm coming too."
"Great!" I exclaimed. I handed TrueMU the letter in my hand. "Just give this to the first squid you see and tell it to give the letter to their leader."
He took the letter. "What does it say?" TrueMU asked.
"It's just my approval for the temporary peace. The peace will last for a month, starting today." I answered.
Mitch grinned. "Then we should get going. Let's go!" The group walked out of my office. Well, most of them. Mitch and Jerome were racing each other to the gates.
I turned towards my desk, which was full of letters I needed to answer. I sighed. Today is going to be a long day, isn't it?
Time Skip brought to you by Flashlight Eyes
I threw the paper across the room. Does King Nestor not understand the concept of no? I don't have the time to help a kingdom that is 21,000 blocks away. Oh cool, the distance of the kingdom to the base is the current year. Wait, why do I hear someone running this way?
The door to my office slammed open. I jumped and fell onto the floor. "Commander! General Deadl- what are you doing on the ground?" the recruit asked me.
"I fell from my seat, that's it." I answered as I stood up. "So, Zachary, what's going on?"
"General Deadlox said he wanted to speak with you as soon as possible. He said something about an Ender." Zachary replied. He looked frightened. I guess he was scared of Enders. We should probably fix that next month. I think Ender and Ty are getting tired of the terror they keep receiving from the mortals. At the least, it's getting to be extremely annoying.
"I'm assuming Deadlox is at the gates?" I asked.
"Yes, he's waiting for you there." Zachary responded. I thanked the recruit, and rushed to the gates. If Ty wanted to talk to me about an Ender, it must be an emergency. Either that, or he just wanted permission to look for an Ender he found.
I spotted Ty at the gates, where he was dismissing the patrol. "Ty! Is something wrong?"
He looked at me. "Not exactly. A recruit has a request for you though." I finally noticed the recruit standing next to him. At a closer glance, I realized that it was Seto. "We found an Ender attacking Seto during the patrol. The Ender had disappeared shortly after we arrived. He claims that she didn't mean any harm, and he wants to have a search to find her."
I acted confused. "Why? Is there something special about her?"
Seto decided to speak up. "She's a sorceress, and one of my best friends. She was under an enchantment when she was attacking me, and it should have worn off by now." Seto looked up at me. "She can be a huge help to the base. Can we have permission to start a search party for her?"
I thought carefully about this. He was most likely talking about Selene, who could easily come to the base if she wanted. If he was wanting to go and search for her though, that means she was most likely in trouble. "How long do you want the search to last? It's almost noon," I calmly questioned Seto.
"Just for today? I don't want to take up too much of the base's time." Seto pleaded.
"Sounds fair to me. However," I said as Seto grinned, "you and Ty will have to organize the search party. The other generals are out on a small mission, and I have a lot of paperwork I need to do."
Seto happily thanked me as I turned around to return to my office. As much as I would love to help, I needed to finish answering those letters. Maybe Selene could help me when she came back. She certainly seems to have a way with words. She wrote 5 books in less than 6 years! I sighed as I walked into my office.
Just one more week, and I can go back home.
A/N
Thank you all so much for reading my book! 61 reads already? I've only posted 2 chapters! That's insane! I hope you enjoyed this chapter, even if it was shorter than usual. The upload schedule is back on track, so the next chapter will be posted on April 30. Here is this chapter's dose of information!
Time in the universe of Minecraftia is known as Minecraftian Time, or MCT (I'm so creative...). There is no such thing as Leap Year, every year is 365 days long. Every 20 minutes on Earth is equal to 1 day (24 hours) in Minecraftia. So basically...
1 minute on Earth is equal to 72 minutes in Minecraftia
1 hour is 3 days
1 day is 72 days
1 week is 504 days (72 weeks or 1 year 139 days)
1 month (30 days) is 2,160 days
1 year (365 days) is 72 years (26,280 days)
On Earth, it is currently June 20, 2040. I think. In Minecraftia, it is Yam 24, 21000.
The Meeting was mentioned in this chapter. TrueMU told the truth about the Meeting. It takes place every 1,000 years and lasts for 24 hours. It is a time of peace, and all wars must be halted during this meeting. However, there are a lot more details about this Meeting that TrueMU and Adam didn't tell the others.
There is a room in the Aether specifically for the Meeting
All 12 members of the Council must be in the same room for the Meeting to begin
No god can leave the room during the Meeting
Anyone else can walk in and out of the Meeting to bring news and send messages
The whole point of the Meeting was originally to be used to sort out problems. Doesn't usually work out in this way
Weapons are allowed in the room, but cannot be used
Creating is allowed
The last rule is a strange one, but I just find it pretty funny. I'll explain why it's even a rule later. I haven't told you who the gods were yet, have I? The gods of Minecraftia form the Council. I won't give you the current Council, but I'll let you know what the original Council was.
Notch, ruler of the Aether, Creator
Herobrine, ruler of the Nether, Creator
Steve, god of the Overworld
Jason, prince of the Aether
Skybrine, prince of the Nether
Shadow, ruler of the End
Ender, princess of the End (And no, Ender is not Selene. They are two different people)
Jeb, god of nature
Dinnerbone, god of technology
Grumm, god of peaceful mobs
Entity 303, god of shadows
Oceanus, god of water
I'm currently making a map of the Sky Army Base. I've already made an example of what the Meeting Room looks like on Omega Realm (it's a Minecraft server I like to play on). In fact, I've made a bunch of things for this, stuff that could possibly give spoilers.
Also, I was tagged earlier today. I will take care of that tomorrow, I have too much to do today.
See you guys tomorrow!
