Prologue
(A/N): Surprise surprise! Here's another story to my lovely followers! Hope you enjoy the first chapter.
Disclaimer: You know how this works...

Your POV
"So now you move the one here on this side and..." The rest of Mrs. Vivian's lecture was tuned out as you stared out the window.
What a bore...
You sighed as you look at the scenery behind the window. A squirrel resting on one of the branches suddenly scurries down the tree and starts digging up the ground at the base of the tree.
You payed little mind to it and groan in boredom, already tired of high school. You spent about a month in 12th grade and you were already exhausted and yearning to go home and watch TV already. You knew most of the content that your math teacher was projecting, so you decided to take out your notebook and doodle a bit.
You quietly went through your school bag and stopped when you come across your notebook. You peeked a quick glance Mrs. Vivian to see that she's still facing the other way. You took it out and gingerly flip the pages until you finally face an empty page. You think back to that squirrel and draw it to the best of your artistic ability.
*RIIING*
The school bell rung, signaling that class was over, briefly stopping you in your actions. Without any hesitation, you start to gather your school materials and pack up.
Thank god this is the last class for the day...
"Attention students!" Mrs. Vivian caught the attention of the students, including you. "You may remember that your Language Arts teacher gave you Spelling Bee flyers a month ago. We are required to choose the students who would like to participate at the end of the day. Who would like to go?" Nobody raises their hand.
"At least one student has to go. Anyone?" You sighed as no one yet again wants to go and start heading for the door.
She somehow gets in front of you before you could walk out and grabs you firmly by the shoulders.
What's going on?!
"Aha! [Y/N] will go to the Spelling Bee!" Mrs. Vivian grinned victoriously as she pats me on the head and shoves me out the door with a flyer, leaving you flabbergasted.
...What just happened?
You couldn't wrap your head around the last few seconds as you stood out of the hallway, still as a statue. You finally took a look at the flyer to see the same flyer handed out a month ago with the same vocabulary words. They seemed easy enough, but you see a note written in red off to the side.
Thought that you were going to get away with drawing in the middle of class? There is a reason why I have my reputation. Just go to class a-5 during third period on Friday.
You crumpled the note and tossed it in a nearby trash can, not caring if the recycling bin was right next to the trash can. That's how you know you're in a bad mood.
Cleaning time now...
You moved some desks in your classroom and grabbed some towels and a spray bottle containing some sort of weird cleaning liquid.
As you started sweeping the school floors, a random group of girls purposely trashtalked about you only a couple of feet away. You wanted to talk back so bad, but you couldn't bring yourself to do it. The group then laughed, probably talking about how weak and pathetic you were, like what the other students thought...
You started your way back home, hoping that you might calm down a bit.
It's a Wednesday [Y/N]! Don't get mad in the middle of the week...
You passed by other students on the sidewalk, hearing faint whispers of 'weak' and 'pathetic.' You only ignored them, blocking out their conversations completely. To reassure yourself, you smiled, though it was crooked.
Finally, at home, you took off your shoes and placed them on the front mat, with two pairs of shoes noticeably gone.
You took out your spare key and placed it in the keyhole, your wrist twisting a sharp left. The door unlocks and, sure enough, there is a sticky note on the fridge.
Your father and I are out on an errand. Please take care of yourself and help yourself to the leftovers inside.
Love,
Mom ♡
You only nod to yourself, this happening enough times for you to know what to do.
You slowly walked upstairs, arriving to your bedroom. It was a typical bedroom, with the necessities and a few details added to your style. You changed out of your uncomfortable uniform- plaid navy skirt, navy blue tie, navy blazer, and white blouse- and dressed into some shorts and a plain [F/C] shirt. You took a seat on your bed, examining the vocabulary words again.
You squinted your eyes in frustration as you tried your best to test yourself, wishing that you had a friend to help you out. You then started on your homework, which was hard to complete since you kept on trying to remember some of the concepts from class.
After a while, your eyes struggle to keep you up and your vision was hazy. You finally fall asleep, causing your notebook that you at some point took out to turn to the picture of that squirrel.
This was a typical end to the day for you.

(A/N): The next chapter will be posted tomorrow so stay tuned for that! Please correct me on anything in the story as you follow along. I'm not sure that there is a Spelling Bee for students in Japan, but I just wrote this since it is important to the story. Also, the school is going along the school year system, not the credits system.
