Distance
Once sans calmed down from his panic attack... three days later he was a lot more distant than before. Sans flinched when papyrus touched him or when amilie even got a little to close. His eyes got black more often than not usually when he thought papyrus wasn't looking. Sans also went back to his studdery shy mess as before. Papyrus tried to break his shy shell once again but sans only laughed a few times before going back into his shell of shame. Papyrus even tried to ask undyne and gaster for help. Sans avoided gaster even more and undyne even thought she was calm at times she got irritated easily so sans hid when she came over.
He was honestly getting worried since sans refused to eat but he did see food disappear from the fridge so he knew sans was at least eating. One day though... Sans disappeared. Papyrus checked all of sanses favorite hiding spots and found nothing. He checked just about any place a small skeleton could hide but nothing, not a trace of sans anywhere. When papyrus however checked sanses spare room he saw the fluffy blue jacket he gave sans folded nicely on the bed with a note. When papyrus read it he panicked calling gaster shakily
"DAD! SANS IS GONE!"
<-------------------->
Gaster was working in the lab on one of his now major inventions that not many people knew of when he heard his phone ring. Curiously he looked up from the blueprints to stair down at his phone at the caller ID. Now what would get papyrus to call at this hour? He picked up the phone and answered it holding it not directly at his ear knowing how loud papyrus could get. "Pa-?" "DAD! SANS IS GONE!" Gaster froze instantly feeling his legs move to grab his stuff "What happened?" He asked scared of what would happen to sans. "I-I DON'T KNOW! HE JUST DISAPPEARED!" Papyrus whimpered on the other end gaster throwing his coat over his shoulders quickly "Where was the last place you saw him?" Gaster asked turning on a device that he grabbed heading out of the lab. "U-UM.... I THINK HEADING OUT INTO SNOWDEN FOREST?" He said nervously. While searching he found small footprints heading into the woods so that's what he guessed happened. He of course would of went after him but he wanted to gaster first for advice since papyrus had a feeling it was his fault.
Looking down at the screen he saw a red dot suddenly blip on the map gaster grunting. The ruins....
<-------------------->
Sans grunted pushing his way through the thick snow shaking hard from crying and from the cold. After papyrus went to bed he couldn't sleep... he almost killed papyrus! And papyrus didn't seem rattled about it at all like it's almost happened before. He couldn't just play fine until he forgot. What gaster said was true... he was a monster. He didn't deserve this freedom nor did he.... really deserve to live. Sighing sans rubbed his skull from tears when he crashed into something, yelping he backed up looking up at the huge door in front of him. Oh, he didn't know there was a door out here. He shakily leaned against it sinking to the ground nervously. He knew gaster had a tracker on him somewhere so he knew once papyrus found out he was gone he would use it in theory... Sans curled into a ball tears forming in his eyes. What was he doing? This was pointless, he should just head ho- A soft noise echoed behind him and sans turned confused slowly leaning his skull against the door.
He listened to the soft noises coming from the other side. Was that.... Sobbing? He nervously sat there looking at the door not sure if he could say something or not. "You ok?" Sans asked hearing the person on the other side shift suddenly before the sobbing slowly stopped to sniffling "O-Oh! I didn't know anyone was there." Sans blushed gently, even if the voice was muffled it still made his soul skip at how soft it was. "Sorry, did I startle you?" Sans asked resting his back against the door hearing the other creature it seems do the same. "No not really... heh I'm kinda glad your here." Sans was shocked blushing a little harder "Really?" Sans asked nervously. "Yes I well.... Haven't been having the best day." She said softly. Sans hesitated before closing his eyes wiping away his tears. "Wanna talk about it?" He asked with a hum. "Not really, but I don't wanna talk with my family really, I don't think they would understand." She said
"So why talk to a stranger?" Sans asked curiously. "Because you don't know me or my past.... So I feel like you would judge me differently." She said sans guessing that made sense? He wasn't really sure "Well, I guess try and shoot, I think I could understand just about anything." He said. It wasn't a lie in the slightest either, He had... done things he wasn't proud of, pretty much anything she said wouldn't shock him. "We'll... i'm a human" Almost.... Anything "A human?" He asked shocked, didn't gaster say something about needing 7 human souls to break the barrier? But then again didn't he say something about there a human living in the underground with the queen and king? "H-Heh yeah... strange huh?" The soft voice said. "A bit sure... but not the strangest thing ever." Sans mumbled that.... Dra.... Draconequus? Right? Scientist still weirded him out a bit but papyrus explained what one was. "My um... father just got sick after me and my brother made him a cake." The small voice said, he noticed that the humans voice was high pitched but didn't sound female nor male. "And I feel really bad..." Sans hesitated before letting a dry laugh escape him looking at the tall trees around this part of the forest "I know how that feels.... My brother was training with a friend of his and his friend wanted me to practice my magic with her... I went a little overboard and almost...." He couldn't bring himself to say it. he teared up remembering how papyrus looked so shocked and... fearful.... "My brother always said people make mistakes, that's just how living works but..." "I've done things im not proud of..." The two blinked before both of them started to laugh... He felt a bit better "I guess that's right but... I just don't want to hurt him" Sans mumbled gently rubbing a tear that streamed down his face
"Same with my father and brother... but they still forgive me like I did nothing wrong.." "Same... my brother is so kind... to kind for his own good." Sans said softly but sighed "Guess misteaks happen..." 'even to experiments...' his brain finished bitterly "Just got to live with them..." The young voice sighed "until you get over them or the thoughts kill you..." Sans mumbled back with a sigh closing his eyes. For a bit they sat in a comfortable silence... One that either would break easily if they wanted. A burden on sanses soul seemed to ease the more he sat there. "I should head to bed." The young human said and sans hummed "ok..." He said "uh-! My name is sans by the way!" sans said quickly realizing he never told his name to this stranger. The human hesitated, sounds of them getting up before a voice shown from the other side. Sans could hear the smile in there voice "my name is chara..." And then footsteps heading away from the door. Sans hummed watching as snow started to drift down around him. Sleep... Sleep sounded pretty good right now. He almost forgot about his situation, hungry and now numb from the snow. He really wished he brought his jacket know... Snowden was really cold. He huddled by the door feeling his mind started to turn into wet mush. Maybe he should get some sleep as well... yeah sleep sounded... Good. Sans closed his eyes weakly with a small shiver. Sans felt himself start to drift barely hearing a high pitched whine (A gaster blaster perhaps?) and rapid crunching of snow. He was able to hear a yell but he didn't understand what they said.
"Sans!...... -ns! ............... SA-........ SANS!!!"
"SANS!!"
