Wonwoo
Imagine for BlackBird0103
"You have to do it Y/N. Might as well get it over with."
Your manager stands in the corner of the dressing room, talking to you while rapidly texting on her phone. You sigh in annoyance and stare at yourself in the mirror in front of you, watching the stylist do your hair to perfection.
You're a solo artist, preparing for a performance in front of a large audience. You were always nervous before these things but today we especially bad due to the fact you had to do a duet with another, more famous idol. One of the members of the increasingly popular boy group Seventeen, the one called...
"What was his name again?" You ask your manager.
"Jeon Wonwoo. He raps usually, so don't ask me why he's suddenly interested in singing." She replies.
"Wonwoo, huh?" You try to recall his face in your mind but you just couldn't remember. You sigh again. "Why do I have to do this? I prefer to sing alone. I get intimidated."
"I know honey, you're just gonna have to do it."
"Don't call me 'honey'."
"Deal with it honey."
You ignore her as the stylist starts on your makeup. You try not to think about it but you still feel extremely nervous. You know that Seventeen is a group that is much more popular than you are, meaning this guy is bound to outshine you.
More than half an hour later, your hair and makeup is done and your manger comes up behind your chair. She looks at you through the mirror, an encouraging smile on her face.
"You'll do great honey. Even if you don't, at least you get to say you sung with Wonwoo of Seventeen." She says in what was supposed to be an optimistic tone.
"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." You reply, packing as much sarcasm as possible into the sentence.
"Good good." Her phone beeps and she checks it immediately. "The show is starting honey. Go back stage and wait for your turn. Break a leg!" She says in an annoying singsong voice.
"Will do." You mumble under your breath.
You get up from your chair and make your way out the door. You find backstage and look at all the artists and groups waiting for their turn to go on. You spot Seventeen in the corner and look away quickly. Seeing them just made you even more nervous.
You stand near the opening to the stage, watching the group that's currently performing. You get so lost in their performance that you don't notice someone coming up behind you until he speaks.
"Excuse me, but are you Y/N?" You hear a deep voice say.
You whip around to see a tallish, extremely good looking boy standing on front of you. He looks curiously at you and you nod slowly.
"Uh, yep. That's me." You say.
His face breaks into a warm smile "Hey! I'm Jeon Wonwoo if Seventeen. We're gonna do a song together, right?" He says cheerfully, holding out his hand to you.
You take it and shake it once. "Yeah, that's right."
"Awesome! I've heard some of your music, it's really good. And you have an amazing voice." He says to you eagerly.
"Thank you. You too, by the way. Your group is really good." You say, trying to sound as if you knew then really well. You had listened to some of their songs but only because your manager made you.
"Ah, don't worry yourself, it's okay if you don't know us." He says sheepishly.
"I do, though." You mutter and he laughs.
"Anyway, I'm excited to sing with you. I don't know, if I'll be able to match up to your level though." You laugh a little under your breath and he looks at you, confused. "What's funny?"
"Oh, it's just I was thinking the exact same thing back in my dressing room. That I might not be able to be as good as you."
"Well, if we're both awful, I'll give the signal and we'll both run off stage, kay?"
You laugh and he grins, clearly pleased. "Sure, what's the signal?"
He reaches over and flicks you lightly on the forehead. "That."
"That's not very subtle." You say, laughing and rubbing your forehead.
"Then how about..." He crosses his eyes and sticks out his tongue and you let out a snort of laughter. He laughs and then smiles fondly at you. "You're cute when you snort." He says quietly.
"And you're cute when you try to be funny." You reply, smiling.
"Hey! I am funny! I made you laugh."
"Beginners luck."
"Well I-"
He gets cut off by your manager suddenly rushing toward you both.
"Y/N! You're on next! Are you ready?" She says frantically.
"Wha-? Yeah, sure. Of course I'm ready." You reply, nodding to try to convince yourself. Your manager leaves satisfied and you take several deep breaths.
"Nervous?" Wonwoo asks you gently. You nod. Next thing you know he reaches down and takes your hand, squeezing it tightly. "Don't worry. I'll be up there with you."
"That makes me feel worse."
"Well, if joking makes you feel better." He shrugs casually.
"Actually-"
"And next up Y/N and Wonwoo from Seventeen!" The announcer bellows.
"Here we go." Wonwoo whispers to you.
You both walk onto the stage and the crowd screams your name and then his. He bows down low and waves, encouraging even more applause.
"Hello everyone!" He calls out. "Please give my good friend Y/N a nice round of welcome applause. She's very nervous tonight."
The crowd erupts and you roll your eyes toward Wonwoo who gives you a wink in return.
"Thank you! I love you too!" You yell into the audience.
You catch a glimpse of your manager backstage and she gestures for you to hurry with the song. You nod and cue the music guy and the song starts to play.
It's a slow song, one that required a powerful voice to sing and you nailed the first lyrics perfectly. You glance at Wonwoo with an almost smug expression but he doesn't flinch. He starts to sing and you're captivated. You didn't think he would be as good as he was but his voice was beautiful and you immediately felt like a piece of crap.
But he does something that surprises you. While still singing, he walks over to you and takes your hand, resulting in the crowd screaming once more. You join in on the song so both of your voices sing together, perfectly.
The song ends and you and Wonwoo breathe deeply, smiling at the cheering people in front of you. You realise that your hands are still entwined together and look down, blushing.
Wonwoo suddenly moves so that he stands directly in front of you. He lifts up your head with his fingers and starts to lean in.
"What are you doing?" You whisper, looking right into his eyes.
"Just go with it. They love it." He whispers back, eagerly. You take a sideways glance at the audience and you see that they do, in fact, love it. So you face him again and let him press his lips to yours, briefly. He pulls back but doesn't wave at the audience like you expect. Instead he smiles at you and gently brushes a piece of your hair out of your face.
"Wonwoo! Y/N! Get off the stage!" Your manager hisses to you both.
You blush furiously and run off, dragging Wonwoo behind you. You pant back stage, unable to keep the smile off your face.
"So what'd ya think?" Wonwoo asks you.
"Of what?" You reply.
"My smooth moves back there." He grins and gestures toward the stage.
"About as smooth as a mountain." You say, raising an eyebrow.
"Eh, I'll take it." He says and you laugh. He steps closer to you and sighs. "Hey listen, I feel bad." He says, pulling an exaggerated frown.
"About what?"
"Kissing you so suddenly. It was rude of me."
"Oh was it?"
"Yeah. Yeah it was." He nods knowingly. "You're gonna have to let me make amends. How about dinner Friday night?" His frown quickly turned into a grin and you couldn't resist grinning back.
"Do I have a choice?" You ask.
"Nope. I'll pick you up after seven. Don't be late."
He leans in a slowly plants a kiss on your cheek. He then straightens up and returns to his group, grin in place.
"Still not smooth." You mutter. Even though he can't you hear you, you smile."Still not gonna be late for that date, though."

Didn't know how to end.
This took me days to write, so if it's not up to our usual standard, that's why.
