Chapter Nine
The game was finally over, with Carly and Anthony winning. It took until 11 at night to end the game.
Damn Carly. Why didn't I just run? Oh yeah, she tackled me.
Anyway, the gang all said goodnight and went to bed. I was out by the lake thinking.
"What are you doing out here?" an amused voice startled me out of my thoughts.
I whipped around to find Mike smiling at me. "Oh just thinking. I wanted some time away from the girl drama."
Mike sat down next to me. "How are things with Mona?"
I looked over at him.
"She told me."
"Ah. We haven't talked since she tried to shoot me a few hours ago."
Mike hugged his knees as he chuckled. "You girls are crazy."
I stood up abruptly but jokingly laughing, "What? guys are so much crazier!"
He stood up too and nudged me with his shoulder. "Maybe we're all crazy. Cmon, lets walk around."
"You aren't gonna murder me, are you?"
"Hmmm, i'll think about it."

"Ladies! Time to get up!"
All of the girls groaned as Elliot strolled in.
"Get out, Elliot. Why are you in here?" Emily asked tiredly.
"Time for day two! The day when we could possibly beat your butts!"
Opal threw a pillow at Elliot, but he caught it easily.
"C'mon, get up!"
"It's 6:30! How in the hell are you up this early?" Mona asked wide-eyed.
Elliot walked up to Emily and I and yanked us up. "No, go away," I yelled as I fought back, "I need sleep!"
"Too bad, Lei. Get up!"
Elliot grabbed Emily and I's hand and dragged us to the door. Then he grabbed the others and pulled them over here too.
"Okay, okay, we're up. What do you want?" Sophie asked.
"Come outside for a second."
"Wait, are you pranking us?" Carly chimed in.
"Why would we prank you this early? Come on!"
We all finally gave in and moped outside. All of a sudden, a rush of hot water drenched us.
"AAHH!" yelled all of the girls.
"Elliot! You're still going to get it!" Emily screamed as she chased him around the cabins.
All of the guys came out laughing. "You deserved it!" Jacob cackled.
"You asshole! Just wait, watch your back," Opal steamed.
"Come at me, babe! You know you wan to!" Jacob replied smugly.
Opal flipped him off and stormed back inside.

"Welcome to day two of Camp Wars! Now, today will be a little different. Although the theme is 'Battle of the Sexes', each participating camper will work with the opposite sex to make it to day three!
"The big twist? At the end of the day, the last campers in each group standing will have to turn against each other! Good luck campers, and have a wonderful day two!"
The morning announcements ended as the gang and I finished up our breakfast.
"So ladies, who will you be working with today?" Opal questioned as she bit into her last piece of bacon.
"I'm thinking about partnering up with Anthony. He's got some smarts, right?" Emily asked.
"Yeah. He can be a big idiot and a big genius at the same time," I laughed.
"What about you, Lei?" Carly asked.
"She'll be partners with me," we heard a voice say.
"Alec?! What the hell?" I steamed.
"You guessed it! My group is back in the game. We pulled a few strings."
"And by strings, you mean the counselor's legs, don't you?" Sophie smirked, and Carly high-fived her.
I scoffed. "What makes you thing I'll be working with a douche like you?"
"Not like me, it is me. Now, we have to build a plan on how to beat all of these mother fu--"
"I am not partnering up with you, Alec, even if you were the last person here."
He grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my seat. "Well that's just too bad, isn't it?"
Before I had the chance to say something, I was out of the groups earshot and eyeshot.

"What do you want--"
"Shhhhhh," Alec put his hand over my mouth, "they'll hear us."
"Hmm?!"
"Relax, Lei. Were going to that lake," Alec pointed over to a secluded, yet beautiful lake.
He slowly took his hand away from my mouth. He took my hand and yanked me towards the lake.
Once we finally got there, I panted, "Why...are we...here?"
"To take the day off, silly!" Alec smiled smugly.
I finally caught my breath and replied as I crossed my arms,"You know, you could've chosen some other girl to make out with, because I'm not interested."
I started back up the hill, when Alec's voice stopped me.
"You know Lei, I wouldn't go back up there, considering we're in the part of camp that would get us in trouble. Plus, I'm not that idiotic."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means, I'm not going to drag you all the way over here just to kiss you when I could've just done it out there."
He had a point, but was he flirting with me?
I looked over at him, and sighed.
"Fine. I'll stay here, as long as you don't rape and kill me." I sighed again.
"You've got yourself a deal," Alec joked.

It finally reached evening, and Alec and I decided to rest.
All day, we played pranks on each other, talked, laughed, thought, and rested.
I got to know more about him, and vise-versa.
Turned out, Alec wasn't a jerk all his life after all. He only became a player because high school supposedly "changed him". God knows what he blabbed about.
"Lei, you awake?"
"Yeah."
"Look at this sunset, it's amazing."
I sat up, to find only a starry night sky, and a full moon brightly illuminating the lake. Did I fall asleep?
"Just kidding. But the night sky sure is beautiful too."
I sat up, acting surprised. "Wow, does the infamous Alec think there are more to things than women? Shocker!"
He nudged me, and I nudged him back.
I lied back down, and folded my arms behind my head.
"Hey Lei?"
"Yeah?"
"Should we head back?"
"Nope."
"I wouldn't have gone anyway."
I chuckled at that.
After a few seconds of silence, I heard Alec whisper-sing.
"You are out of my league, all the things I believe..."
I chimed in, "you are just the right kind, yeah, you are more than just a dream."
"You are out of my league, got my heartbeat racing, if I die don't wake me, yeah, you are more than just a dream!"
We were full on screaming the Fitz and the Tantrums song. As we concluded, we started dancing to nothing.
"Alec, you sure are a card," I laughed.
"I like to call it, charmer," he winked.
Well it worked, I thought.
"My charm worked?" Aled questioned as he chuckled.
"What? Did you hear me think?!" I gasped.
"No, I thought that only happened in those girly teen girl books. I just took a guess."
"Oh."
"Wait, you thought about me?" Alec smirked.
"What, no!" I shrieked.
He moved towards me, and I backed up against a tree.
His arms trapped me in between him and the tall Palm, and when he realized I couldn't get out, he smirked.
His face was a mere inch away from mine, and he whispered, "Maybe this will work too."
* * *
OH. MY. GOSH. Heave, heave, heave.
Will Alec kiss Lei?!?! asdfghjkl!!
(Soooo sorry I've been MIA for this long. )
And just when we thought Alec went bye-bye!
Should Alec be in the cast??? Lemme know, inmates!
