Chapter Three

This was it. Finally one more day until camp, and away from that disease, Blake.

Speaking of him, It had been a few days since the dinner, and when I told Mona about the mystery neighbor, she practically flipped out and called our friends ranting and raving to them. To me, it was pretty funny, seeing how Mona hadn't known him as long as I did, but still.

She'd said, "Well, on the bright side, he won't be at camp."

Now here I was, getting packed up for camp in the living room while Mona did some shopping for cameras. By the time I finally finished packing my large suitcase, and struggled with the zipper using some pretty colorful language, I managed to get a decent wardrobe for 2 months.

"Okay," I sighed in relief, "clothes, check. Next is--"

The door burst open, revealing a bright Blake Hemingway. Wait, why is he in here?!?

"Guess where I'm going for the summer?" he gleamed.

"Why are you in here?! you can't just burst through the front door like that! What if someone were naked?!" I practically shrieked.

"I don't get how a naked person would walk around the house. Unless..." Blake grinned mischievously.

"You're so disgusting. Get out," I pointed to the door. I started pushing him towards the front door. Of course, I couldn't drag him, so his feet moved along.

"Wait, you haven't heard my good news yet!"

"Well guess what?" I smiled sarcastically once he was outside," I don't care." Before I slam the door in his face, which by the way I seemed to make a habit of, he blabbed again.

"I'm pretty sure you'll care when I tell you that I'm going to this cool summer academy at Lake Tahoe. We won't see each other for two months, which is a dream come true..."

Wait a minute. Lake Tahoe? Camp? Months? Two? Summer? Oh. Hell. No.

I grabbed his shirt collar and dragged him back inside. He crossed his arms and smirked.

"Please don't tell me you're going to the same summer camp in Lake Tahoe as me."

He laughed and strolled over to my about-to-burst-open-suitcase. "Is that what this suitcase is for?"

He zipped it open before I had the chance to say otherwise, and all of its contents popped out like a jack in the box. He rummaged through it while I stood there like an idiot. Then he held up a few silver packets that looked almost exactly like...

"Are these condoms?" He laughed like a hyena.

I snatched them away from him as he doubled over cracking up. Once he composed himself slightly, he ruffled my blonde hair. "They're not condoms! They're emergency deodorant! Can't you read?!"

I shoved one in his face. Hell, I even ripped one open, and a...c-con--condom came out. That's what really got him laughing.

Shit! I must've bought CONDOMS instead of the deodorant! Why in the crap does the family planning have to be next to the emergency stuff?! Stupid CVS!

"I didn't even know that girls bought condoms! HAHA! YOU GOTTA SEE YOUR FACE!" Blake was on the floor now as my cheeks swelled up with anger and embarrassment like Tinker bell's.

"Get out. Get out, get out, GET OUT!!" I fumed as I swung the door open. In a way, I'm actually glad he rummaged through my stuff, otherwise I would've brought those to the camp. I still hated him for laughing.

He clutched his stomach and slammed the door behind him as he STILL howled over to his house.

After I, for the second time, finished zipping up my suitcase, Mona arrived with the gang. "Hey guys!" I smiled. Carly, Sophia, and Opal all rushed over to me and gave sympathetic hugs.

"Damn, I didn't know you had it that bad. Hemingway's back, huh?" Carly grimaced.

Carly had known Blake the longest of our group, aside from Mona and I. She met him in 7th grade. The other girls met him in 8th. Although Opal was the newest to our group, she was mostly mine and Blake's friend. The guys of course know him too.

"Oh come on, Lei. It's not that bad," Anthony rolled his eyes, and of course Sophie agreed. She's always had a crush on Blake. Don't get me wrong, Blake is not bad looking at all, but he's still an arrogant jerk.

"He's going to the same camp we are," I sighed.

"Oh, that's great! We should invite him over here for the camp out we're having here for our last day!" Mike suggested.

"NOOOOOOO." Mona and I yelled in unison.

Mona hadn't exactly hated Blake, but of course she hated his personality.

"Let's go invite him, Lei. Please?" Jacob pouted his lip.

I sighed a long, dramatic sigh. There were less guys than girls, so I guess it would've been fair. "Just keep him as far away from me as possible."

Anthony, Jacob, and Mike practically leaped at the front door.

Once they were out of earshot, Opal smiled mischievously. "Let's prank them!"

"Now you're talkin'," Carly clapped and rubbed hands together.

"Okay, how about once they come through that door, we attack them with cold water and ice!" Sophie remarked.

"Ugh, Sophia, of course you'd want to see Blake wet," Opal joked.

"Eww, okay, subject change. Let's hurry with the bowls!" Mona scrunched up her nose.

After what seemed like forever, we finally heard the guys nearing the door. "Okay, on my count," I whispered loudly. I was behind the couch, Opal was next to the doorway, Sophie and Mona were behind the bookshelf, and Carly was behind the counter in the open kitchen.

Once the door opened revealing the four guys, I started counting quietly.

"Where are the girls?" Mike asked.

Jacob shrugged. "They're probably--"

That's when we doused the water all over them. We of course set up a camera to capture the looks on their faces.

We all came out cackling and crying with laughter. "YOU GOTTA SEE YOUR FACES!" I shouted mostly at Blake, using his words against him. His mouth was wide open, while Jacob nodded his head repeatedly, looking weirdly calm. Mike and Anthony screamed like little bratty girls when the water reached them.

There was an awkward silence, but then Blake smiled. "Why don't we give these young ladies some appreciation, hmm? How about a hug, Lei?"

"No. No, no, no, no!!" I shrieked as his arms wrapped around me. The other guys did the same thing to the other girls who were screaming too.

Blake whispered in my hair as he squeezed the life out of me, "You should've seen your face."

* * *

"Your boobs are so saggy, I'm surprised you haven't tripped over them trying to answer the door," Carly sneered through her vibrant mask. Once the lady slammed the door in her face, I'm pretty sure all of our faces were stained with tears from so much laughter.

Even though summer just started, we played the infamous Halloween game. Opal had found some costumes in my storage room, and got the idea of the game. Were all supposed to come on a group to someone's door, disguised of course, and the ones who lasted by the door the longest had to say something stupid or insulting, while the others hid from view.

It was only a couple of times where 2 or more lasted by the door. Carly had been racking up points, but Jacob was a close second.

"Okay...alright, I think we should go back to Lei's house now," Opal wheezed from laughing so hard.

As we made our way back to my house, Mona and I trailed behind. "How're you holding up, Lei?"

"I'm fine. After that hug, Blake hasn't acknowledged me, so I'm good. I'm just devastated that he's going to the same camp, but the guys need someone to hang out with."

Mona nodded.

* * *

My eyes fluttered open to find a cluttered house, and 8 scattered bodies fast asleep on the floor and furniture. We didn't drink, but we stayed up until at least 5:30am playing a bunch of games, eating, and talking. For most of the talking part, Blake and I ignored each other.

I yawned quietly and stretched. I tiptoed to the kitchen to check the time. 11:30. We weren't supposed to be at Lake Tahoe until midnight. Weird hours, but opening night, they had some bonfire. We we flying there, but we didn't have to be at the airport until 5 or so. Lake Tahoe was a mere 2 1/2 hours via plane.

As I made some cereal and brushed my hair, I stared blankly at all the sleeping figures in the large living room.

I turned to face the stove to make a second bowl, when a tap on the shoulder nearly made me throw the cereal all over the place.

"Morning," Mike sleepily smiled.

"Gosh, you scared the cereal out of me," I huffed.

"Sorry 'bout that. Anyway, ready for the camp?!"

"Definitely. Are you packed?" I asked.

"Yeah. I wanted to ask you something," Mike scratched his arm.

"What's up?"

"What's up with you and Blake? It's like you guys hate each other, don't get me wrong, but you guys seem to be all bipolar about it."

I pressed my lips into a thin line, and my hand held my spoon tighter.

"I'd really rather not talk about him, Mike. I only let you guys bring him over because I thought it'd be fair that there was one more guy."

"Oh. Alright. Well at that note, I think you should be a little easier on him. I feel like he's trying to put that stuff behind you guys, but you shut him out." Mike lectured.

"I'm not going to 'take it easy' on a person that called me a bitch. In several occasions, actually. The only bipolar one around here is him, so why don't you talk to him about it?"

Mike shrugged and turned to leave.

* * *

Finally, the plane.

After many, many...many hours of last minute preparations, screaming arguments about sharing 4 bathrooms, and rushing to the airport, we finally arrived.

Here I was sitting in my seat. My friends and I were all in the same aisle, but nobody had sat next to me yet. Opal, Jacob, Carly, Sophie, Mike, Tony, and Mona already sat down, but the only person left was...oh no.

Blake took a seat next to me, and stretched out on purpose, just to annoy me. That's it. "Um, miss flight attendant? Can I please move? Please?"

She must've sensed my desperation, so she moved me to the next aisle. I would've thought she was a normal flight attendant, but right when I was about to thank her, the inevitable happened.

Not that I was too surprised, but she was bent over a little more than usual, with her DD's spilled out, practically on Blake's face. Instead of being jealous like normal "enemies" in books and movies, Blake and I were actual enemies. I was not jealous of that cave woman.

Instead, I started laughing. Cracking up actually. The gang looked over at me like I was nuts, but I managed to point over at Blake and the too close for comfort flight attendant.

"They...look so--ridiculous!" I choked out.

The flight attendant, who I learned was named Kelly, glared at me. She pretty much twerked her way over here, considering how much her butt was sticking out in front of a now annoyed-at-me Blake.

"Excuse me, but you're making a little too much noise, ma'am."

"So are you. Keep it down will ya? I'm trying to sleep," I sneered, referring to her moans as she spoke to Blake before coming over here.

Her cheeks heated up, and Carly gave me an air-five. Kelly scurried off in her heels.

"What the hell was that for?" Blake seethed.

I shrugged, "I want to actually stay awake for the bonfire tonight. I wouldn't get any sleep with all that noise coming from that lady who practically had an orgasm just talking to you."

With that, I put on my earphones, and sent a satisfied smirk to a furious Blake, and shocked Mona and them.

An hour later, I woke up from my nap. Guess who was back? Tits McGee. Yep, I went there with Grown Ups 2. She was in my face, and her gross boobs were suffocating me. "Did you want something?" she plastered on a fake smile, and I shook my head, returning the gesture.

"Psst! Mona!" I heard someone whisper behind me. Since the plane's seat was taller than me, I managed to take a sneak peek. It was Opal, and she looked a little frantic. She gestured towards Jacob, who was fast asleep on her shoulder. Aww.

Mona smirked and turned back to her magazine. Opal sighed and rested her head on top of his.

I looked at everyone else who were fast asleep. I glanced at Blake, and he was curled up in his chair. Pfft, jerk.

After another hour went by slowly with me partying in my chair to sound of the music in my earbuds, the pilot finally made the announcement that we were landing. Once the plane slowed to a stop, I practically leaped out of my chair, yelling at everyone to wake up. "We're here! Lake Tahoe!"

We grabbed our luggage, and Mona and I shrieked in excitement like we were tourists on vacation to an exotic island. "Summer camp, here we come!" Sophie grinned.

* * *

As waited for the camp's shuttle bus to arrive, we made decent conversation. Mike was still eyeing me suspiciously because if what I did in the plane, but I shrugged it off.

I finally spotted a fairly new bus slowly screeching to a stop. Maybe I was wrong about it being new. Oh well!

We all piled on, and I decided to sit next to someone I didn't know, because I wanted mo make some new friends. I ended up more towards the back next to a boy that seemed really quiet, or in his own little world. I tapped on his shoulder, and he turned to face me. He put in a small smile, and introduced himself.

"Oh, hi! I didn't see you. I'm Elliot. And you are?"

Just as I was about to answer, I heard an annoying male sneer, "Desperate."

I gave Elliot and apologetic look and whipped around to see Blake. I gave him a glare with as much evilness as I could muster. "Do you mind?" I hissed.

"Sorry, that's annoying Blake. I'm Leighla, but everyone calls me Lei," I stood up to point out my other friends, "That's Mona, Opal, Sophie, Carly, and the guys are Mike, Jacob, and Anthony."

"Cool. I guess I'll get to have a more formal meeting when we get out of this claustrophobic box on wheels," Elliot laughed.

Elliot was kind of adorable. He had super straight jet black hair that came down to just above his ears. He was obviously a little shy, but he was probably one of those people who warmed up to you the more they got to know you. His tan skin matched his light brown eyes, which looked like they had little flecks of dark green from the sun. He wasn't totally buff, but he wasn't scrawny, that's for sure. His striped muscle shirt surprisingly toned his not-so-burly physique.

"So who did you come with for camp?" I asked after I laughed along with his joke.

"Oh, just a couple of friends. You'll meet Emily and David later," Elliot replied.

I nodded in acceptance and drowned myself out into my music until we arrived.

* * *

"Lei. Lei? LEI! We're here," I felt someone shake my shoulders. I must've dozed off, because I groaned and turned over in the bus seat. All of a sudden, I ended up on the floor of the bus. I looked over and saw Elliot smirking at me.

"Everyone else left, so you better get up before we miss our first day at camp!"

He helped me up, but let me fall back down again, and cracked up when my butt hit the floor with an echoing thud. I got up quickly, and dusted myself off, before giving him a playful glare.

"That's not a very nice way to treat a stranger," I joked as I stepped off the bus, "Anyway, let's go meet my friends, and vise-versa!"

I grabbed Elliot's arm and dragged him to where I immediately spotted my friends and a couple of others by the bonfire.

When we arrived, I introduced them to him. "Guys, this is Elliot. Elliot, this is Carly, Jacob, Tony, Mona, Opal, Sophie, and Mike."

"And Blake," I heard Mike say.

"Meh meh," I mocked Mike. I took a seat between Jacob and Sophie.

Elliot waves to us. "Hey guys! And as I could see, you've already met Emily and David."

"Hi, I'm Leighla, but everyone calls me Lei," I smiled to them as they waved.

I scanned the bonfire and saw there were at least 70+ people here. A lot of them were in their own groups, while others wandered aimlessly.

"Oh great," I heard Emily mutter, "Guess who's here?"

"Who's here?" Mona asked.

David nodded his head over to-yep, definitely cliché-a clique of spoiled rich kids. And they were headed straight towards us.

Hey...

Yep, that emergency deodorant thing that I wrote about is real. And it does look like a C-word. (Ms. & Mrs. Minimergency Kit)
