After what felt like externality, we left the ceiler and the floor closed behind us, as if we weren't even there. We go back home and by then it is dark out. "I'm going to go to bed now Shadow, night." Melody says. She waves when she says night and walks off to her room. I, on the other hand, head to the roof to relax and think to myself for awhile.

The night sky is beautiful. There are no clouds in the sky and the stars are shining bright. I lay on my back, my arms behind my head and one leg hanging over the other. It is stunning out here. I close my eyes and relax, enjoying the silence. "There you are, I begin to wonder where you ran off to." I open my eyes to see Rogue flying above me. I roll my eyes and give her my grumpy look, I was having such I nice time before she came.

"What do you want Rogue?" I ask, my tone showing a hint of annoyance. "When I heard Eggman betrayed you, I didn't think you would join a human girl especially a human girl with those eyes. Who is she?" Rogue asks me, jumping a little when I growl at Eggman's name. "Her names Melody and I think you should wait to hear her story. She told me just today and I'm sure it felt like salt on an open wound." I tell her, my tone now flat.
"Alright then I'll ask her tomorrow." She jumps into the air and fly's off as I give her my usual grumpy look. I groan and stand up, heading down from the roof and to bed myself. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

I am standing out side of Melody's bedroom, waiting for Rogue to finish breaking her heart. I warned her that Melody might cry, and that she would feel like her heart was being pulled out of her chest. I stayed up all night because I couldn't wrap my head around one thing. I was supposed to protect her. I don't know how I feel about that, but I guess I'm not going anywhere. Staying with her may prove helpful to her, at least until she and her brother reunite.

I'm pulled out of my thoughts when the door squeaks and a slightly red faced Rogue comes out of the room. I told her she was going to cry. "You might want to go in there to calm her down. Can you point me in the direction of the washroom?" She asks me. I point down the hall and head into Melody's room.

I walk in and she is sitting on the edge of her bed, hands covering her eyes and silently weeping. I walk over and sit beside her on the bed. She removes her hands and looks over at me. "You must think I'm not worth you time, don't you." She says, her voice hoards from crying so much. I look at her in shock. Why would she think that? "I am strong in power, but I am emotionally weak. I cry all the time, in fact every night I cry myself to sleep, last night I pulled the sheets over myself so I would not wake you up or worry you. But that is always how the night goes. I am haunted by my memorys every night. I just.... I just...." Tears run down her face as she looks back to the ground hardly able to speak. "I miss brother... I miss him so much." And with that she starts to sob, a puddle on tears forming on the floor.

I just stare at her. This poor girl, for her to have it that bad mentally. I can't imagine what she deals with in her dreams. Did Blaze and Sliver know about this? I reach my arm out and start to rub her back. I've seen others do this before when someone was crying so maybe it will help. I don't know why but it hurts to see her upset like this. She tenses for a minute, but then she relaxes and stops crying. "Shadow, could I have some time to myself?" She asks me as I let my arm fall to my side. "Sure." I tell her. I walk to the door and close it behind me, the door squeaking shut.

I turn away from her door to find Rogue waiting for me. Her face gives off no clues of what she wants as she signals for us to go in the stage room (room with giant stage). When get there she turns to face me. "So, what are you planning to do?" She asks me. I glace back at the hallway which leads to Melody's room. I'm not leaving her, Maria asked me to protect her, so that's what I am going to do. Turning back to Rogue I say, "I'm staying with her." I say. "What are you going to do?" "Well, if all goes as planned I will also be staying." She says.

"Great. I would be glad if you would stay, i'd like some company."

We both jump a little and turn around to see the source of the voice, who is now laughing quite a lot, is Melody. We are quite embarrassed but Rogue just sort of laughs after getting over the embarrassment. I suddenly feel something in my throat, it's hard to explain. Its feels like a burp or hicup, but its not one of those things. Melody and Rogue are still laughing, I wonder, is this laughter I am feeling? It has been since Maria was alive that I have laughed happily. I can't hold it in any longer. The laughter explodes out of me, for a minute Melody and Rogue just look at me, then continue laughing. A beeping interrupts our laughing spree as Melody goes over to a different room that I have never been in.

Rogue: Why did you put her through so much?
Me: I wanted Shadow to have someone to relate to and to be honest it is a little obvious who her brother is.
Rogue: I have no clue. Can you give me a hint?
Me: Nope you are going to have to wait and see.
