Prologue
"Choosing your heart is easy, Choosing where your heart is is hard."
Barricade looked out at the wreckage of his home. A home he no longer cares for. He walked down a road that once bursted with life, only now to never be used again. He stopped his musing: he had to find and kill any survivors. Megatron wanted this to be the biggest massacre to show his power. To show it as a warning to anyone of will stand in his way. Barricade didn't have to guess that it wouldn't work. Optimus will be as stubborn as ever, but Barricade could care less.
After for hours of searching, he couldn't find a single living being in the mass destruction. He might as will leave. As he started to leave, he heard a soft cry. Barricade froze. It sounded like a sparkling. A new spark by it. He started to follow the sound of the noise. What he found was a sparkling trembling under a pile of debris. He slowly inched his way to the sparkling. He could tell it was a femme and it had little damage. There were a few dents and scratches but the femme was still alive.
The sparkling was a black color with purple stripes along her chassis. Her chevon was white and was in a normal shape like all praxians. Her optics were still closed, showing she was extremely young.
Barricade careful started crawling under the debris and picked up the sparkling. Once out from under the rumble, Barricade stared down at the little form in his arms. Remembering the words from Megatron, he lifted a servo to snap the sparkling's helm. But some force was keeping him from doing so. Barricade felt a strange fondness toward the weak femme he was holding.
Barricade knew he would probably get killed or exile by the decepticons but it will be worth it. The sparkling could be a noble fighter in this war. He also knew that he needed to name the sparkling. He thought about it for awhile until he finally came up with it.
"Shadowblade. That would your name young one." Barricade said. The sparkling seem to respond to it. Shadowblade curled up closer to Barricade's chassis.
Barricade gently stood up, cradling Shadowblade in his arms. As he started to head back to base, he heard the sound of a gun.
"Stay where you are Barricade." A menacing voice said behind.
Barricade smirked. Of course. "Well, well Prowl. I hope your enjoying the view?" He said in a devious way.
Barricade heard a low growl coming from Prowl. "Turn around." Prowl said.
Barricade knew better than not to listen. That'll get him killed. He slowly turned to face Prowl. And noticed there was spilled Energon on the bot's armor. "I'm guessing you found a survivor?"
Prowl looked at him with a ridged optic. Sure enough, Smokescreen was behind him. With their younger brother in his arms. They all saw Shadowblade in his arms.
"Where did you find that sparkling?" Smokescreen asked.
Barricade couldn't help but let his smirk grow bigger. "Where do you think? Under the debris." Barricade scoffed.
Prowl narrowed his optics. "Give us the sparkling and I'll let you leave."
Barricade snickered. Prowl truly expected him to give up the child? "Not a chance Prowler." He said leaning in to put his face closer to the autobot's face. "If you do try to stop me though," he leans into Prowl's audio receptor." I'll kill this little one right here."
Barricade wasn't actually going to kill Shadowblade. He somehow already feels a strange fondness for the little femme. He also wanted to see the horror in Prowl's optics. This gave Barricade the chance to use his free hand and grab the Praxian by the neck.
"Hey!" Smokescreen's exclaim noted Barricade of the charging mech. He lifted Prowl and threw him into his brother, knocking them both down. He than turn his attention to the shivering form of Bluestreak. Bluestreak had both doorwings damage enough where they were mostly gone. He was drenched in his own spilled Energon.
Bluestreak looked as if he was half expecting Cade to jump at him and rip the praxian to pieces. Instead, Barricade smirked. "I'll make sure this little sparkling proves she's stronger then you, Blue bot."
With that, Barricade turned heel and started to leave. Half way gone, he turned around to take a last look of the autobots. He saw Bluestreak rush to his brothers and try to wake them. He could tell they were just dazed. Poor, dumb little blue. He looked down at Shadowblade, peacefully curled up in his arms.
"You'll end that idiot of a praxian one day."
