The Devil
Did you ever wonder if you were bad enough to go to hell? Ever wondered what your punishment would be if you got down there?
Not me. I wonder what it would be like to BE the devil. That's where the inspiration comes from. I hope I don't slaughter it, but it's also kind of loosely based on one of my dreams... I'll be slowly giving clues for something. I dare all of you to try and figure it out. Happy hunting! Also guys, try not to get triggered. I know it's not an accurate representation of these characters, but it's my own version, alright?
I sit on the couch, concentrating on my phone and reading through Wattpad comments. The other couch is adjacent to the one I'm on, but is at a slight obtuse slant.
My phone dings, indicating that I had a notification. I instantly check it out, being the author I am.
"Awe, the dedicated Storm has returned to kill me with her comments" I smile, awaiting the unavoidable laughing fits to come.
The message does exactly that, and I burst into a fit of laughter. I wipe a rogue tear from my eye and hear a deep cough.
Looking around my phone, I see a nicely dressed man in a business suit sitting on the other couch watching me.
"Hello Miss *insert my last name here*, I am the one most commonly known as The Devil."
My eyes widen. "Satan? Hades? Hel but a guy?"
He smirks, a look that only enhances his natural charm. "The one and only. Well, not for long."
Thousands of questions flow through my head, only a few catching my immediate attention. "What do you mean?" I ask, that sounding like the most generic and pathetic question I could've asked.
"I'm glad you asked young one."
My eyes roll, vision moving away then back to him. "I'm not that young, just not as old as you."
"I am aware, but I have been alive since the creation, you have not. I have been in existence for all eternity, you definitely have not. Yet the weight is upon your shoulders..."
I force my gaze to the floor. "Let's not talk about that."
He nods. "I understand. It is a huge responsibility after all. Anyways, I would like you to come to hell with me for a few days. Run the place for a little."
"Really?" I look at him. His smirk, perfectly straight teeth, snazzy suit. Everything practically begging me to just accept the offer.
"Of course really. I mean I know I am the devil, but I cannot lie to you. It isn't... Allowed." He very carefully chooses his words.
I think on it for a moment. "That sounds like a good opportunity. I don't understand why I didn't think of it in the first place, considering I'm already on your side."
He smiles brightly. "That's good. We're happy to have you."
I was about to respond when the back door opened. Satan groans loudly, visibly irritated.
A large, very old, very shiny man walks in, burdened by a long frosty beard. I would guess Santa Claus because I'm very childish, but his clothes were greek-looking and made from golden thread.
"Hello, God." He sneered at the last word, twisting it's sounds to sound as evil as his own self often sounded.
The old man nodded at his exact opposite before facing me. He tossed a happy look at my form before sitting himself down next to me.
"How are you, my child?"
I groan, very much equivalent to Satan's own. "For one, I'm not your child. For two, I was doing pretty good til you randomly walking into my house."
"Would you rather I had just appeared uninvited?" He says, somewhat shakily, making the devil snicker.
I nod. "Especially if you had the intention of inviting me to control hell for a few days."
Hel-but-a-guy smirks happily at God's surprised expression, impressed with my ability to make the almighty one afraid.
"He's going to let you run hell?" God's voice was cracked and betrayed his uncomfortableness.
"Yep, I am. After all, it's where the majority of today's people are going. Isn't that right?"
I nod, knowing it to be true.
"But what about the ones who are righteous? Don't they deserve a chance as well?" He argues, unhappy with how swayed I am.
I again nod, but ultimately already have mostly made my decision. "Do you know how to tell when someone has been good all their life?"
He nods. "I am God after all."
Satan smirks at God. "Your about to get lectured by a--"
I cut him off with a glare.
"You ask them if they believed they were good. The guilty ones have a chance to redeem themselves in the trial. The ones who say they don't are being honest. I know this because no human can lie in the face of God. I, for example, do not believe that the things I have done are truly wrong. They are just frowned upon. The ones who are guilty will tell you they are, they know what they do is wrong. The ones who don't believe what they are doing is wrong are right. If it isn't wrong to them, it isn't wrong."
The old man look severely shaken, while the devil prided in my showing up the almighty one. Then he disappeared, leaving me and the well dressed man alone in my living room.
"I knew you could do it. How long did you rehearse that before getting it right?"
I smirk. "I came up with it on the spot. Thanks for the courage boost by the way."
He waves his hand dismissively. "You just needed a little. I think he won't be bothering you for a while."
He stood up and walked over to me, his hand outstretched. "To hell, interning Devil?"
I smile at him and take his hand. "To hell."
And there ya have it, the first story. Also the first few clues. Nothing too vague, I promise. It was all right there. Anyways, this didn't continue because my dream ended here. Yes of course I wanted to go to hell, run it for a little while, but I have the feeling that will get more hate than this will. Anyways, hope you caught the clues, and until next time, *insert Dark's personal catch-phrase*!
