Dear JJ

Dear JJ,

Every time you say in a video that you "used to be introverted" it makes me upset. Introversion isn't a disease. It's not something that changes. You may have been shy, or timid, or ignorant, but comparing those things to introversion is just plain wrong. Being an introvert only means that being in the presence of people causes you to lose energy, where extroverts gain energy. As an introvert who is completely stolid in my admittance of how I am, I can say that I enjoy parties, I am friendly to strangers, and I am generally not an extremely shy person. I've been an introvert my whole life, and just because I transitioned from hating parties to enjoying them doesn't make me any less of an introvert. I can love parties but still be exhausted by them. I can greet strangers but I can't spend too much time with even my own family.

I'm not really angry, it just makes me sigh at how little you actually understand about what you're saying.

Love forever,
Leah
