Dark colours are much easier to paint

Black rage can never be too black

For an inexperienced eye

Pink roofs and off-white hallways

Pose the difficulty

Like a french kiss on the cheek

Half-blushing with disgust

Half smiling with respect to cannibalism

Like cut-off tails of the lizards

From a few decades ago

Now kept under the glass in my bedroom:

A relic of childhood's idiosyncrasies

Like myself now;

Frozen to the telephone post

Just outside Grand Central-

A shivering question mark.
