Skyfall
As I open my eyes slowly, very slowly,
I feel like an Infant.
I feel small and insignificant,
And all I see is gray.
It appears that I am color-blind,
And perhaps I am.
After all, infants are.
But I only begin to panic because,
I don't know how I got here.
But I am falling.
And falling fast,
So fast that I can hear the wind rushing past my wee little ears.
And then I start to see buildings.
Tall buildings.
Skyscrapers even.
One of which, I most likely fell off of.
Or jumped off of.
And suddenly,
The sky is baby-blue, and the skyscrapers are forest-green and dark-blue in places.
And I feel...
Older.
I feel like I could simply get up and walk,
And I wish for having something underneath me to walk on,
More than anything in the world.
As I fall, I seem to be gaining teeth.
They seem to grow in as fast as the speed of light,
And soon,
I have almost all of them.
And then I start developing,
And I feel more mature,
Like I could scale one of the skyscrapers that are staring me in the face.
I feel free.
The air around me is thin, but I still manage to gulp down a few breaths.
And soon the skyscrapers turn into trees,
And trees turn into small,
Run-in-the-mill stores that sell anything from shoes,
To hamburgers,
To hand gliders.
Oh how I wish I had one of those right now.
A few more moments pass,
And I feel as if I could get a job somewhere,
If I get done falling, that is.
And suddenly I feel worn,
And I start to feel my skin shriveling up.
And my teeth spring from my mouth,
Until I am only left with about ten.
Is this my future?
My future that will come to pass when I am done with my fall?
I have no idea,
But what I want to know more than anything is,
How am I aging?
When all I am is falling?
It is a mystery that I hope to find out,
If I don't die when I am done with my fall.
Soon I am only about twenty feet off of the ground,
And I feel the ground rushing up to greet me.
And the sky turns from baby-blue to pinkish orange to midnight black,
And to baby-blue again.
And I can practically feel the ground coming.
I want to stop it, but have no way to.
So I simply let myself fall.
And then it all fades.
And all that is there is light.
Suddenly I know what light it is.
The lights of the heavens.
Which means I'm dead,
And I did not survive my perilous fall.
But I am no way at peace.
For I still do not know how I started to fall in the first place.
